Surprise, Surprise a GOP led government shutdown just in time for tax day! That's their Magnum Opus and their Waterloo. Just figures, they're always so Orwellian.
The GOP and DLC memebers will not vote for a tax increase on the rich and closing corporate tax loopholes, but the message of "The rich must start paying their fair share" is on a streamroller mission! Eventually, hopefully sooner thatn later, we will elect representatives who will raise taxes on the rich and force them, and the corporations they hide behind, to pay their fair share of taxes and then some.
Blatent unfair/illegal actions induce a 'shock response': "This CAN'T be true or actually happening!?!". This initial response delays or mutes outrage; and, more often than not, this delay allows time for our personal life-events to distract our attention from the issue. Bottom line: yeah, Walker will probably get away with this...at least until the time the reportedly drunken, incompetent son screws up enough so that thoes who work under him gather together and revolt.
Senator Sanders is wrong, the Democratic message fails not because of the Republican media machine, it fails because the message itself is flawed. The yet too close to call election between Wisconsin's Supreme Court Justice candidates, JoAnne Klonppenburg and David Prosser should have been a landslide. The liberal campaign works for a well informed, political savvy constituency, not for the majority of any political demography.
Two ads dominated the Madison area airwaves, and I will presume they were the major attraction across the state. “Klonppenburg put an 80 year old farmer in jail” from the Prosser campaign brought no response from the Klonppenburg corner. What impression would any low information voter from rural Wisconsin be left with? And the Klonppenburg knock out punch? “Prosser is just a rubber stamp for Governor Walker”. Everybody knows what Walker stands for…..lowering ‘my’ taxes (who doesn’t want lower taxes) and for creating jobs for the unemployed by making Wisconsin industry more competitive (why should those union workers get paid more than I do?). Klonppenburg’s ‘right’ hook was just the knock out punch Prossor needed.
The anti-Walker demonstrations and Union campaign was about workers “rights”. There is no understanding, even by Wisconsin liberals, that the outcome to make “Wisconsin Industry Competitive”, or any states’ industry competitive, is be competitive with China, Indonesia, India, or Viet Nam. And what wages do they pay? What benefits do they offer? I believe the Progressive movement realizes this. So, when will we get tariffs? The Republican neo-conservative movement will initiate tariffs when they have driven their cost of labor and government down as far as possible. And who will benefit from this new movement to protect America’s Industry? Labor?
If Klonppenburg loses, it was because the intellectual’s running Wisconsin’s may have a good message, but not for low information voters. The Republican’s have figured it out. They understand who listens to Fox…just look at those Bud Light commercials. Listen to Thom Hartman debating with a neo-con. Logic? .....Facts? .....Economics? .....History? ...... I remember one Young Republican; she changed the subject 3 times before Thom Democratic Party don’t understand that “Madison is 25 square miles surrounded by Reality”.....Ditto Washington D.C.
Hey the former premier of British Columbia, Gordon Campbell was caught drinking and driving while on vacation in Hawaii a few yrs back.He was only forced to resign a few weeks ago over lying about the Hated Sales Tax (HST).Had he not lied about it, his party the Greasy Fiberals (BC Liberals), would have either barely won or lost and not won re-election by the landslide they did.This big lie has lead to many recall campaigns throughout the province.The worst Cdn politician ever was the drunken ex premier of Alberta, Ralph Klein, who yelled at guests of an Edmonton homeless shelter after a midnight drinking binge, threw coins at them and told them to get as job.He admitted afterwards that he had been in a drunken stupor for 30 yrs of public service.Not as bad as ex Saskatchewan premier Colin Thatcher who hired a hitman to kill his ex-wife, but pretty bad nonetheless.This pisstank has retired with $500 million due to his support of the petroleum industry.Good news is that he is dying of emphysema.
Outrageously unjust INDEED! How out of touch are these republicans, and how long will the American people stay silent?
They get away with it because the plain poor American citizens are too overehelmed to meet their both ends ..................... to bring the basic needs of the family together......................... they don't have the energy left at the end of the day to read, listen or watch what these 'R'ascals are doing. .................... and that is where the 'R' ascals want average American to be so that they cannot be brought face to face with the Average Educated American and have to Answer them!..........................

I studied my head off throughout college making A's in Marine Geology, Phytoplankton, Marine Chemistry, Coastal Pollution, and Wetlands Protection, as top of my class in two colleges, and I clear $12,000/yr. if anything at all. Plus, I don't drink or even dine out.

The question, "Will the republicans get away with it," presupposes that there is no such thing as karma, which is what those sociopaths believe. However, belief isn't necessarily the same thing as truth. There are things we can do that will speed the process of them getting faced with the facts, but even if we do nothing, they are creating their own hell world in their own minds. I feel so sorry for those miserable fools.

If Exxon, Bank of America and GE, etc would pay their taxes your children would be in debt. NPR 5 million dollars vs 4 Billon for Exxon, do you not understand that 1 billion is a 1,000 times larger than a million so if you cut Exxon tax payer paid welfare payment of 4 billion dollars you could have 1,000 NPR's. Please stop quoting Glenn Beck with out thinking.

This must become a lesson to all of us. You get what you vote for ( or didn't vote for).THis is extremism at it's finest! I can't believe the average American voted for this republican objective of attacks on the middle class, senior citizens and poor while protecting the special interests of corporations, wall street and the super rich.

They get away with it because they don't have a thing to lose and it enhances their personal power. If Scott Walker loses his job in the recall, the day after he'll be a corporate lobbyist or a fellow at one of their think tanks making a lot more money, and he doesn't have a college degree either.
