Remember that Arizona rancher who was shot last summer, and how it lead to heated debate on the issue of "illegal" immigration? What was even more significant about the murder of Robert Krentz was the timing of it. Obama was notching one legislative victory after another, and with the passage of health care reform, right wing pundits and Republican law makers were actively inciting acts of violence against Democratic lawmakers.
When the press reported on Krentz's murder, the official story was that someone had crossed the border at Mexico, walked 20 miles to his ranch, killed him, and then walked 20 miles back over into Mexico. Here' the problem I have with that story. When Krentz's body was found, he was found slumped over in his ATV, with the motor running. Does anyone else see anything wrong with that official explanation? Thom must be doing something tight because the conservative crazies are blasting him. Thom must be getting under the skin of the conservative crazies. These conservative crazies are really pissed at him.
Thom, if you can set aside an hour to talk to people from Florida to inform us on the oil spillage problem, this hour will be helpful. With the conservative newspapers we receive no honest information.

I believe you identified one of the arguments from people that identify as conservatives, "that people are inherently lazy", of course they don't include themselves in this appraisal. The fact that a government or community who provides "tools", a path, rewards, to work hard, to accomplish, to improve, will create a "great society" eludes them.

The good news here is that the pollsters are starting to ask the questions that split the opposition to "Obamacare" into those that say it goes too far and those that see it as a Republican plan that doesn't really go anywhere. I have known for almost a year that the opposition to the plan because it doesn't go far enough plus the people who support the current reform far outnumber the direct opposition to health care reform. It is really good news that this fact is finally coming to light.
I think the Liberal Argument is winning over time.

Relating this to today's topic, just think of world civil society in 1810; repressive and reactionary compared to 2010; far more participatory and valuing (if not always respecting) human rights.
I hope you take the opportunity Beck has given you and really sum up and re-state your position. Pepper the show with some of you're revolutionary founding father histories. Would be a wonderful time to try to do Thom's All Star Guests, try to get the economist Ravi Batra on, see if Bernie can do a couple of extra shows etc... really expose these new listeners to common sense. You have taught your regular listeners so well over the years, if you could distill some of that knowledge and wisdom down to some easy to understand shows in the next few weeks, you may actually pick up some of those Tea Party types you believe are out there. The ones that know something is wrong with our political system, but aren't enlightened to how we got here and are lashing out ignorantly.
This is a huge opportunity Thom, hope you get the chance to make the best of it.

Thom, congratulations! You're on Beck's radar! Death threats aside, how awesome is that! Think of all the new listeners you're getting because of it. Sure the majority are moronic sheepeople, but you have an excellent opportunity to reach out to some who have a brain but have not be exposed to you.

I've had universal health care all my life and i'm 58 yrs old, so how did I do it?....I was born in Canada, dont let anyone tell you that it isn't great . Even though we pay slightly higher taxes in Canada I still pay less than the avarage American when you factor in the cost of an avarage american health insurance Plan. I would probably be broke or dead by now if it wasn't for the Canadian health care system.
Tranquilizers and prayers were my only options. I tried to watch some movies about MLK but it was too hard.

Like most double talking liberals, Thom Hartmann is the height of hypocrosy! Where is the proof that Sean Hannity, Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh incited this or any other violence. I heard you say on your show Friday the 14th that materials by Sean Hannity were found in the crazy killer, loughner's home. Those of us that believe in the Truth would like to see the facts on that. My guess is that you dreamed it up along with this phsychotic correlation between honest decent and criminal violence. Keep up your hateful targeting of innocent people. It just makes us stronger in our resolve. God Bless America!!!

I was searching for articles on being rich in a poor country and I found this very interesting blog entry, where the author makes the point that taxes are the price of admission into modern society by using Disney World as an example. Who wouldn't want to live in Disney World?, he asks...hmm. Whether you would or wouldn't I think it's an example that anyone can connect to.

Wow, I guess the author of this "article" holds her agenda and advancing her left wing idealogy over the truth. Incorrect fact #1: Trent Humphries NEVER made any statement that even closely resembles the claim the Gabrielle Giffords was responsible for her own shooting. Note how there is no specific link to a reference. That's because it DOES NOT EXIST. Check out the video link. No such statement even close. But why let the facts get in the way of a good propaganda opportunity. Incorrect fact #2: The lesson you arrogantly claim has not been learned by the American people is completely falacious. We've had strict gun laws on the books since Reagan was shot and it has not and will not ever stop a lunatic from obtaining a gun and murdering innocent people. But leave it to liberal Democratic socialists to want to try and control the masses with a massive, overbearing Federal government. I loathe people like you.
