@Maxrot: Illinois has had this law on the books since 1994. It was a reaction to a politician whose comments were recorded. Embarrassing a politition is a felony.

Exemptions written in to allow police to record you without your permission. Of course, the cops can record you.

//@Gene, how in the hell can they seriously call recording public servants acting in public, with the public, eavesdropping.//

That's Another thing conservatives and liberals should agree on.

    We should make a list!

Now the new Muslim Miss USA's crown is being challenged 'cause she earlier did a pole dance (while clad in t-shirt and shorts) . That will pave the way for the (assumed) Christian Miss Mobilhoma to assume the crown.

Harry Reid is the guy who has been doing this behind the scenes.

And we ought to get rid of him once they pull this scam.

This was done purposely to mislead the progressive community.

Free Speech advocate Chris Drew is in court today to file motions on his arrest for "eavesdropping" on the Chicago police officer who arrested him. The charge is a felony in Illinois.

Chris has the support of the ACLU in this, and has said he will try to get the law declared unconstitutional.

Rodney King didn't mind someone eavesdropping on the police. Oscar Grant didn't get a chance to appreciate someone recording audio/video on the BART platform in Oakland, CA. He was handcuffed and face down on the platform when a cop shot him in the back.

This has been the play all along.

It's why progressives ought to pause about re-electing Harry Reid.

If this guy gets re-elected we can kiss any reforms that benefit ordinary Americans bye, bye.

We need grass roots progressives not Corporate progressives in the congress.

Through the centuries civilizations and empires have risen and fallen. I will be discussing the death of the United States of Hell. History does repeat itself. Historians often look to the Roman Empire and I will be no different.

The Roman Empire fell for a variety reasons, such as lead poisoning through their use of lead pots and pans, the possible rise of Christianity, the hiring of mercenaries to fight their endless wars, and the slaves to do the domestic work.

Let us look closely at the demise of the United States of America. Our death is similar and yet very complex because our death occurs in the twenty-first century. The twenty-first century was supposedly more advanced and yet it was probably less advanced in terms of humanitarian reasons.

We can look at our deregulations of the environment that is killing off life from animal to human life. It is the United States of Hell’s fall from Christianity that has also aided in our demise. We turned our backs on Jesus Christ and accepted false prophets. These false prophets in our religions are clinging to the eight pillars for its strength. These eight pillars are hatred, murders, torture, war crimes, corruption, decadence, greed, and lies. These eight pillars gradually destroyed the mind, body, and souls of our citizens and our nation as a whole. We also hired mercenaries to fight our endless wars because the goose-stepping elitists have systematically killed off our children. We have also destroyed our middle class and hired people at slave wages. American corporations have also been instrumentally involved with our goose-stepping government by destroying the middle class with outsourcing our jobs and the hiring foreigners for less money. American lives have diminished steadily for decades.

Average Americans have developed a sense of hopelessness from our children to our adults. Our citizens and politicians have preferred screwing around and not parenting. Our teenagers are a great resource for us because they are into fairness and idealism. Fairness is not just for themselves but also for their friends and other people. They are also idealistic because they believe in a better world. Our country cannot be a role model for other countries because we have demoralized our people to the point that hopelessness and fear are rampant in our nation and among our people. We are already into the abyss of hell.

Goose-stepping Americans have a unique way of behavior toward people whom we consider different. We are great at stigmatizing people by bias, distrust, stereotyping, fear, embarrassment, anger, and/or avoidance.

Our evil and immoral ways have brought to us what we deserve our demise as a nation. People usually get what they deserve and goose-stepping Americans deserve death.

@harry, in all truth, I don't think the earth gives a damn one way or another. Nature as we know it is really nothing more than a thin web of life at and just below the earth surface. A mere residue of filth on its face.

No these idiots are just like people who play with fire and start a forest wildfire. They dare to act foolishly and before you know it all sort's of people are affected.

How people can't believe in evolution is beyond me, obviously the missing links are all around us. From stupid chimp-men running coal mines, to foolish monkey-men playing on oil rigs.

Hey Thom, why would an Executive party necessary cause this accident? I mean they were going to a working oil rig, I doubt that they would want to be on a quiet non-working rig. I mean, these people are going out there to pretend to be real Oil Workers, I would think they would prefer the machinery to be humming along and the little people running hither and dither working hard, so they could feel that just by being there their partipating in real work. I mean, it isn't like they were having a golf banquet at the country club. Imagine men in 3 piece suits and hard hats, that's how execs dress for these gatherings, they're reliving their days of playing with Tonka Trucks in the backyard, they're drinking hi-balls not Champagne, they're real men and they're not afraid to proove it. If you're holding a party with a certain backdrop chosen, you want that environment to be in full effect.

I just have a hard time believing that the oil rig was cutting corners for the party, I can believe they we're doing it to save a few bucks though.

I'm not saying you must be wrong, I just think some research needs to be done on how these shindigs and wingdings are presented.

Before the budget cuts of the '80s, There was an East Moline State Hospital in Illinois. After they were emptied out, former patients were taken off the streets for whatever crimes, and then sentenced to the same building, which is now called East Moline Correctional Institution.

Jail staff is much cheaper than hospital staff.

Is jailing sex offenders really helping society in the first place? I somehow think that since its obvious that there is in most cases a mental derangement associated with the perpetrators, wouldn't placing them in secure mental institutions be better for both them and society? I mean at least in such an institution mental health professionals, Doctors and Psychiatrists, can both study and treat them.

I suppose there could be an argument for almost any criminal being in need of mental health treatment though. However, I'm not so certain that criminals aren't at some level mentally disturbed in the first place. I think our society is overly concerned about revenge and punishment and not rehabilitation.

While I have absolutely zero sympathy for sexual predators, I have grave suspicion about giving the government the power to lock people up forever without facing a jury of their peers.

On this, libertarians and civil libertarians should be allies.

But it is natural for this to be a very emotional issue, especially considering the high likelihood of crimes occurring if we don't lock up the predators. And it must be tempting for politicians to use the emotions of this issue for advantage.

    Children and Prisons

We have many personal prisons. For example, we can be incarcerated in a county, state, or federal prison. We can stay in our home afraid to go out in the public. The most significant prison is the chains around our heart. I have shared with you that we are destroying our children through mind control and operant conditioning. Children are numbing their brains through video games and violent movies. We are teaching and training our children to hate at an earlier age. The beauty of their belief in fairness and idealism is being lost. Children are being programmed to grow up sooner and detour around their teenage years. We are preparing our children to be misfits and sociopaths.

I believe that in a 5-4 decision the Supreme Court that children cannot be imprisoned for life. I wonder if the four votes were from Catholics. The Catholic Mafia on the Supreme Court is a disgrace to Catholicism.

The United States of Hell will NEVER lose militarily but her soul will be DAMNED for eternity.

California has juvenile detention centers. There have cases of girls saying that her boyfriend raped her after breaking up. The boys are always guilty and they go to these detention centers. They will for life be considered a sex offender.

OK in my perusal of the BP Oil Spill I keep coming across this Gulf of Mexico accident, Ixtoc I. Its stated that it was the worst spill (at least in the Gulf) ever. Does anyone know to what extent this killed the Gulf, what the clean up effort was and the results of it, where it was located, and how its location effected the spill pattern. I'm only seeing a comparison in passing, but no real data on the Ixtoc I and I'm wondering how valid the comparison is.
