@rladlof, nah it 'taint communistikal, it'd be one o' 'dem showsalist papers Groucho Marx wrote before 'e whint alls communist, or was 'dat Harpo 'dat whint n' writted it?
@Jeanie, home-un-schooled is more like it, more important to teach your kids what not to believe in many of those situations. I personally think the mother in the family is just addicted to having kids, her main interest seems to be just doting on the youngest, while the other kids do every other household chore. (Again thank you dear wife for the education and knowledge I never wanted). Completely unnatural too, they talk about God wants them to have children, then seek every medical advancement to ensure it, but take no standard precautions to avoid it. I understand doctors have told the mother to stop long ago, but she refuses to listen to that medical hoo-ha, "God will provide, and Doc Nutbutter will give me what I need to help God provide." Hypocrisy through and through.
@Meet Jon Doh!, I think many of us have had one side conversations with Mark. I mentioned my distaste for NAFTA once, and he went straight to the attack position on me being a racist. Couldn't reason with him, at all. After a lengthy back in forth, I finally got the point, nothing I said would be reasonable to him or non-racist. I pretty much just ignored him from then on, as most people seem to on the blog, rarely see anyone intentionally engage him. I don't know if he's been banned from the blog as you surmise, but he rarely seemed interested in give and take conversations, his point of view and personal conclusions were the only thing that mattered, so perhaps the moderators felt he was just better off being blocked... time will tell. Not that it'll matter to me, I never had the time or interest to read his lengthy postings.
The guy I believe you are referring to is Mark K, aka constantine. If I recall correctly, at one point last week, he mentioned that he'd grown tired of this blog in general, and would not be posting much here any more.
Gotta agree with ya that he had a sore spot with regard to Mexico. He always took anything said by anyone on the show or in the blog regarding Mexico or Mexicans as intentionally negative, stereortyping, profiling or somesuch. I don't agree, however, that his ranting went without comment - I, for one, often told him to take a step back, calm down, and try to re-parse the statements that got him so riled-up.
It is done all the time when GOPhers use the DoJ against Dems...It is only Dems who refuse to fight back. Witness Paul MInor and Dan Siegelman.
But, Rove runs free, John Yoo keeps his tenured position, Bybee remains on the Federal Bench, Laura Canary still holds a position as a Federal Prosecutor, etc. Ted Stevens gets a get out of jail free card, however.
We act as if elections held under the US occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan hold legitamacy, when the notion is (appears to me, E-prime ) laughable. "Vote for me and I'll set you free - Ball of Confusion...that's what the world is today. Hey Hey"
Hell, we act as if we could vote for a change. Anybody you know who supported the bank bailout? No, elections are theater..."it's money that matters."
I refuse to watch either that or the Jon & Kate show. It bothers me that people have so many kids just because they can. If you want a household of kids, then why not adopt? I just don't get it. And it is interesting to see the supporters of the Duggars (19-kid people)--they are all religious (they all say , "God bless them" and reference Jesus and the Bible). I wonder if they'd be as supportive if those people were not Caucasian and were not Christian. I am guessing not. You are right that they want to outnumber those who are not just like them. Which is why they need to keep them homeschooled and away from secular ideas.
@rladlof, if Gainor is a human animal like you and me, then perhaps it would be polite of me to send him happy hour times and discount coupons for bars that allow guns. Perhaps he'll find some enlightening conversation there to help bolster his philosophies.
@Jeanie, have you ever had the misfortune to see the 18 Kids and Counting reality TV show? Talk about lack of education, or more to the point foresaking education in the name of being addicted to breeding (and using religion as an excuse). My wife knows better than to leave that show on while I'm in the room, or in ear shot (thanks to her, I know way more about Jon and Kate plus 8 then I ever wanted to be afflicted with). Conservatives, don't want education, they just want to outnumber the minorities in the country.
@ MAXROT: Gainor is a human animal just like you and me. The words I have heard him utter just love corporations and fair the dissolution of social conventions . . . Unlike yours and mine.
The chap who couldn't understand what you said did that all the time. Some months ago he went off on Thom (in the blog) because he felt that Thom intentionally made disparaging remarks about Mexico. Here's what happened (and Quarkshould be able to verify this because she took part in the discussion on the blog).
A woman caller was concerned about what was going on in Yemen. The caller was trying to say that Yemen was near Saudi Arabia and Thom interjected that Yemen and Saudi Arabia share a border. The woman tried to say it again and Thom said, "Yemen is to Saudi Arabia as Mexico is to the United States".(I might not have the order correct.) Our friend posted an angry comment that Thom was intentionally demeaning Mexico. When people tried to say that he misunderstood or that wasn't what Thom was saying, he retreated to his "you don't know my world" position.
He has inspired me to coin two phrases.
1) Some people are born for certain careers, like Kobe Bryant was born to be an athlete. Our friend drives a tug at the airport which seems ideal for him because he seems to have been carrying baggage all his life.
2) I don't think all his ball bearings are round.
A big reason that I decided to create this membership was to confront and expose his mysogyny, homophobia, racial divisiveness and overall nastines that went with almost no comment for almost a year.
If the Rethugs can call the Democratic strategy for the mid-term elections "Race-Baiting" then can the Democrats call the Rethuglican's strategery "RACIST-Baiting"?
I appreciate diversity in conversation and in thought. The give and take of conversation is important developing a sane a rational understanding of the universe we live in. The deities know that I love a good argument and will readily jump into one without regard to the side I am defending simply ‘cuz” it is losing at the moment.
My continuing issue with Mr. Gainor is that his expressed points of view tend to stand diametrically opposed to the social nature of the human animal. One would have to literately espouse (and he has) that language is solely an expression of the individual. Language requires shared context . . . There can not be communication with the social. The root of the majority Gainor’s positions is deification of the individual . . . Sigh. I applaud the uniqueness of the individual . . . I just can’t make the mindless leap into worshipping that concept.
@harry, don't worry so much about the snakes, those purple bats and blue dogs are far more dangerous (people say I'm hallucinating when I talk about purple bats and blue dogs, but I tell you, I see blue dogs in congress all the time, the bats just seem to hover around my head mostly though).
CIA behind Mexico's drug war, probably pumping furiously away at it too.

Is the CIA behind Mexico's Bloody Drug War?

@MAXROT: Ain't that dar William o' Lefts a communistical document?
Gene, Thom, forget the birth certificates, just wear a copy of the Bill of Rights.
N
@harry, put a fig leaf on. Hey maybe that's why God hates figs, couldn't help but associate them with Adam.
I think we should scan our birth certificates and make iron-on transfers for our tee shirts.

@Wendy; you don't send your golf buddies to prison..its just not done!
Harry,
Are you literally talking about snakes, or are you using the word as a pejorative term for some political (or other) group? tee hee
@Jeanie, yeah, therefore more low-paid vegetable pickers and cannon fodder.
