Great review and commentary ... I'm going to promote this book. I went through it all, arrested once for some threatening emails to my Dad (stepdad, but only Dad for life). Got three weeks of a month sentence. Was amazed that there were payments that had to be made to pay for your probation "services", and it was indeed a misdemeanor to not pay them, and the court fees. Granted it wasn't much, and my gf paid them for me so as to not have to worry. I think it was like $300 total in Seattle, WA. But the plea agreement I agreed to in Court two days after being arrested was for 2 years probation, with a no leaving WA state stipulation, or a move for a legit job, or to move in with a relative maybe for financial reasons, but it had to be approved. When I got out I had 48 hours toreport to my pb officer, so I went straight there to get it over with, and he had 5 years probation, a mental health eval, and submitting to random UA's, and alcohol was a violation. First time I'd ever heard of this for sure. I also had to report to him, every 2-3-month intervals, where they could UA me, but never did. But just having to go to the Courthouse, and all the cops, and strange offices, and lockups, and miltary grade defense system against anyone shotting them or whatever, Like a 24 hr. gas station in a big city's bad area. But even more seemingly defended with 4 ft. thick concrete walls, and all the bauhaus architecture, to seem imposingly the establishment. But I did get called up on a UA out of the blue at a different location and failed it for weed and booze. ( I have a problem, it's true. As soon as I get back from Jazzfest and seeing New orleans for the first time, I'm back in AA full time and not touching the stuff.) But anyway, it's up to the probation officer to interpret things and their valuation as a breach of the terms of probation, in which I was lucky and I think my pb officer could see that I was well educated and had never been arrested before (which doesn't matter as much as you think.) But his job ultimately is to play both good and bad cop, and keep yu feeling threatened obviously to diminish repeat offenses. My problem is I had no idea you could get in that much trouble, and was blind drunk when I wrote those emails, and the tiny premonition or suspicion that they could be intercepted and used as automatic black and white evidence, which I wasn't too sure how all that worked, now I know for sure. But my Dad forwarded them to the police. Genius I am. You're definitely completely at the mercy of the Court, and if you don't have any money or kinder wealthier friends. You're fucked. Because three weeks in jail will cost you your job, in my case my place to live. And the $6 grand that my friend paid to a lawyer, didn't do a dman thing, and she was useless shit talking insulting the whole time. But I swear it's true that having an good lawyer gives you credit to the Court that you have money, and are therefore less of a threat to society? IDK. Remember, 'Affluenza'? Wtf was really going on there? Anyway headed to the dinner and jazz bars. I hate having to live in a society with so many obvious hipocracies that seemingly the good people of America, the majority can't do anything about it. I'm from Louisville, KY and I have strong suspisions of corruption in the criminal judicial system. I've worked at the PD office here in Seattle, and for criminal defense cases in Louisville. And have a few "freinds" in the field. Arrogant scrupulous people for the most part. Feeling above the law, and knowing you can't do much for your client anyways, only caring about the money, are the norm from what I've seen. Very few judges I've met are as cool or fair, or transparent seeming as any we see on tv. There usually very secretive, authoritatively dismissive of anything accept for they believe or have ordered. And, yes, it's perfectly within the Courts right to change a plea agreement after one has been offerend and agreed to in a hearing or court date. And Dear fucking God what a charade and waste of fucking time and money the whole thing is too. Over usually very minor bullshit. Cheers. You tube some Professor Longhair and have a cold one.
Where are the common law and equity courts?
The significance of THIS question continues to elude you. ( actually, there are a number of options regarding WHAT precisely your "problem" is......clearly, you seem to have bought into your own hype.......but to imagine that your "smarminess" is a sufficient mask for your self centered mediocrity and your intellectual cowardice or that it is "sustainable" is quite foolish.)
Did you know ( rhetorical?) that both common law and equity require that in order for crime to have been commited, there must be either a victim or that evidence of harm or damage must exist?
Did you know ( rhetorical?) those "rights" in the "bill of same", are rights in "common law and equity", and if there are no courts available which operate in accordance with the "rules of evidence and procedure" of "common law and equity", that maybe you have no rights?
How is it that someone who...."speaks with the straight talking clarity and brilliance of a modern day Tom Paine as he exposes".......whatever it is YOU imagine you are "exposing"........has totally missed......the abscence of two of the four "available" jurisdictions in the Constitution........while presenting yourself as any kind of "intellect" at all? ( definitely rhetorical!!!!!! )
I had hoped that you would get better.......that you could LEARN, that you would adapt....but you're just a "smarmy" pretender........and the sooner you are gone, the better........because you are not a "solution"....you are THE PROBLEM.

When Bernie says you have to vote....
He isn't just talking about November of 2016.
If you want to vote for Bernie in 2016 you need to get involved in the Democratic nomination process now. It's complicated, different in almost every state, but crucial if Bernie is to be nominated as the Democratic candidate in 2016.
It's about caucuses, and primaries, and getting elected as a delegate to your state or district Democratic convention. If you are a Democrat stay a Democrat. If you are not a Democrat, in many states you will have to become a Democrat to participate. Even if that turns your stomach you have to take one for the team is this is going to work.
This starts in January in Iowa and runs through most of 2016. Get informed, pay attention, don't miss deadlines, and put your body into the polling place or caucus site. Otherwise it's all talk and no meaningful action.
I hope the Tom Hartman show will take up this as its mission: Taking the time to understand all the rules in each jurisdiction, and informing listeners in a timely manner what they have to do and when they have to do it to get Bernie to the Democratic National Convention with enough delegates to win this nomination.
There sure are a lot of clueless people on this blog. Where were they in defending property rights when the banks foreclosed on all those subprime mortgages that were peddled to the black community, stole their money and homes, only to let them rot all boarded up? At least those police cars and stores had insurance. Chances are those property owners will come out of this with brand new inventory, windows, doors, and paint--as well as compensation for their losses--way ahead of the game. If you really want to place blame for this riot, try the media. They are the ones who refused to cover the story until all hell broke loose. Thanks to the media you can also blame them for the next riot, and the next riot, and the next riot. Thanks to the media, now the people know exactly what they have to do to get any attention in this country. Thanks media. Public enemy #2.
Who is public enemy #3? If you seriously believe that blaming the victim is ever going to solve anything, look in the mirror. That was a really popular tactic in Nazi Germany. Look what that did to their country. No problem ever got solved by blaming the victims.
Finally, who is public enemy #1? Well if you took the time to listen to the protesters, that would be our economy and our Gestapo police force. If our economy was healthy enough for these minorities to get a good education and participate in it, there would be no need to hire a bunch of SS guards to oppress and harass them. Therefore, if I had to point a finger at the #1 enemy it would be income inequality. And the biggest offender right now is free trade. So if you really don't like what you see, I would suggest you address the real problems instead of pointing your racist fingers at the victims. Otherwise, don't be surprised when the riots break out in YOUR hometown; and, black people aren't the only shade of color running around in the streets.

Every trade union is against the TPP. That is not surprising except for the longshoremen's union being against it. The longshoremen should benefit from the TPP.
stecoop1 -- I hate to depress you more, but I can't help myself. We only break treaties if they are hurting "billionaires" or the 1%. It is beyond my imagination that we could break a treaty that was helping billionaires as much as the TPP does.
The TTP, and its Atlantic twin, the TTIP, are definitely bad news. But what's even worse is that there has been very little discussion of them in the mainstream press. Keeping the citizenry ignorant is an old trick of those who control a nation.
Repeating an earlier rant, though, modified:
If the TPP is so beneficial for America, why did it take Wiki Leaks to reveal segments of the proposal; why was Congress not allowed to discuss on the floor of the Senate and House; or even had access to the Agreement before voting on it until just recently (and it’s only because of the likes of Senator Warren, presidential candidate Bernie Saunders, Senator Sherrod Brown, etc. started to speak up and out about the Agreement); why was the so-called Agreement created in a cloak of secrecy and why no amendments allowed; why only an Up or Down vote by Congress if the Agreement is truly beneficial to the US as the president continues to claim; why, if most Republicans are in favor with the President, Democrats not so much – that tells you right there; why, is the document considered a “Trade Agreement” when it’s been continuously reported to be a Treaty, with only about 30% being about trade; are they framing it as an “Agreement” so the White House can get fast-track approval by usurping Constitutional voting powers of Congress ? ? ? The real truth – Senator Warren is correct, the POTUS + Republicans are wrong.
BTW, Thom, try asking presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton (and her stooge MSNBC Hardball Chris Matthews) what ‘white privilege’ really means for them personally and professionally.
Although the TPP (SHAFTA) is areally bad treaty, I take comfort in the knowledge that the United States has a long history of breaking treaties - just ask any Native American.
(Or for that matter, any American who's recently been screwed by the government.)
Two weeks ago today on Democracy Now, Rep Alan Grayson of Florida correctly characterized what action the American public could take if the TPP is Approved, "Pucker up and kiss your country goodbye !".

Hands down the only choice, Senator Bernie Sanders for President of the Democratic Republic of the United States of America 2016.
Give him a majority in both houses of the Congress of the Democratic Republic of the United States of America 2016 and begin once again promoting "the general welfare" of the working class majority, as we were for 50 years prior to Reagan.

THom...re Bernie sanders!...today (thurs) 5 pm easstern ...listened to NPR Hourly newscast on windows media. when they came to the bernie for president announcement.... the feed crapped out... 3 times! ... here's the letter i sent to NPR: hello! Please explain: at 5pm eastern... i listened to hourly newscast. When the Bernie Sanders announcement for President article started...the web cast stopped (windows media). I tried 3 times...each time...the webcast crashed at that point.... 40 minutes later..I tried again... the Bernie Sanders article had been excised! Please explain. Im reporting this to thom hartmann show and to bernie.... Please explain? thank you.

One of the guests on Bill Press' morning show - I think a US Rep, but I didn't catch the name - said that Obama warned that if we didn't do TPP, then China would become the dominant economy in the world.
My response is: Good! Let them take care of the world for awhile.
I hope we can get 2 things in the newsletter: 1) the video of Bernie Sanders' announcement, so we can share it on Facebook, 2) the list of issues and the percentage of the population that agrees with Sen. Sanders on them.
