If want your house not to burn down or your body to survive, you need socialized fire department or health. You have the right to choose own health provider and people should be free to offer services. A free market produces better, cheaper computers. They define freedom as economic. "A necessitous man is not a free man". If you don't have a base line level of Maslow needs, you are not free. He says trying that has not worked. Thom says it has in other countries. He said Ayn Rand knew more about freedom than FDR. What chance would a child with spina bifida have without rich parents? Society is a collection of individuals.

  • Right wingers give constant positive feedback, they are more emotional, it is a self confirming group, and Democrats are more cerebral? Fox is 24/7, MSNBC is not - it has non-liberal stuff, not the same sense of community. Community fills a basic human need. Murdoch lost $100m a year for 5 years before Hannity, etc. made the first penny for Fox News. AAR lost much less and a much bigger fuss was made, they did not have the funder. Thom was just picked up by AAR affiliate in Washington, DC.

"Why do the health insurance companies and Republicans want to kill President Obama’s health insurance reform? Because they like things the way they are now. Ed Hanway, CEO of insurance giant Cigna, makes $12.2 million a year. That’s $5,883 an hour. Ed makes more in one day, than the average worker makes all year long. Now Ed's retiring with a $73 million golden parachute. The Republican prescription for the health insurance crisis — be as rich as Ed. You'll be happy too."
  • Article: Healthcare FLASHBACKS (VIDEO).
"Now flash back to April 2008, when the Obama campaign put out this ad, in which Obama held Tauzin up as an example of everything that was wrong with the game-playing in Washington."

The pharmaceutical industry wrote into the prescription drug plan that Medicare could not negotiate with drug companies. And you know what the chairman of the committee, who pushed the law through went to work for the pharmaceutical industry making 2 million dollars a year.

    Imagine that.

That's an example of the same old game playing in Washington. You know I don't want to learn how to play the game better, I want to put an end to the game playing.

  • When you've got nothing to sell but trash, the status quo, making the corporations and rich get richer...
  • The ad that CNN refused to run.

  • ... you have to use fear and anger, hate and racism. Shouting down representatives at town halls. Being able to compete against a very rich guy or pharmaceutical company is not freedom. Freedom has to do with a society being functional.
  • Article: Cornyn: Public anger on healthcare a good opportunity for GOP.
" “Fear, I would say, precedes anger, and I think there are a lot of people who tell me they are scared of what they see coming out of Washington in terms of spending and the debt and muscular federal intervention on everything from financial institutions to healthcare,” Cornyn said. “It’s almost like a part of the grieving process.”

What’s more, he said, disappointment — whether driven by fear, anger or any other emotion — with the Democratic agenda has given Republicans a better platform from which to launch their assault on the Democratic majority in the Senate.

“No one would have ever thought six months ago we would be where we are today. I see real opportunities for us,” Cornyn said at a meeting with reporters. “2010 did not look like it was going to be a particularly friendly year for us.”
