"Government isn't capable of regulating"? What? They sure are if they're allowed to do their jobs without corporate-owned legislators putting up obstacles every step of the way. Why is there such a notion that our government is so stupid that they can't find their way out of a paper bag? Fund them, let them do their job, and they'll do it.

Incredible that right wingers say the solution to all of our problems is to allow the "self-regulation" that has worked so well.

When someone starts with the "free market" talk, I suggest that they move to Somolia or Afghanistan.

I commend Portland's Mayor for promoting being able to walk to all of the retail and restaurants within 20 minutes. The only problem is I lived 10 minutes walk from Costco but if I bought anything I couldn't carry it home without a truck.

How come conservatives always cut Prez Bush so much slack as he was ordering rapes, torture, and murders as part of his "War on Terror" all the while calling himself a Pro-Lifer? Even if he didn't want torture to happen (although he did), it did happen on his watch. Were you calling out Bush then?

I'm for the Second Amendment, too. I'm for every amendment. Heck, I'm for the entire Constitution. But I'm also for putting limits on gun ownership. The way I read the Second Amendment, it does not entitle every individual to own any arm. Otherwise, no one would be able to restrain people from planning to build bombs. They're just another form of arms, aren't they?

I'm getting awfully tired of people opposed to gun control skewing the debate to imply that those of us in favor of it are opposed to portions of our Constitution.

I'm expecting that we're going to get looowww voter turn out for the next several years. The Democratic Party didn't get it when Bush was able to walk away with the PResidency in 2000, that fact of the matter was, most of the electorate didn't care who won and didn't show up, history is going to repeat either in 2012, or 2016.

Lack of Health Care is one of those symptomatic issues that will precipitate this, especially when people start realizing that the "Health Reform" bill is nothing more than the Health Insurance companies being handed customers they can screw as they wish. We both live in California, I'm sure you know as I do, what the Insurance companies did with mandatory Car Insurance. "Sure we'll cover you if you have a pre-existing condition, we'll only charge you 5,000 a month, when you go bankrupt, perhaps you can get government assistance."

I am not a conservative. I guess I consider myself a lefty idealist progressive. I'd like to see the two-party system replaced with a system that permits a plurality of views and forbids profiteers from financing politicians. I want this nation to get out of the deathgrip of these bought and paid for politicians.

Therefore, I cut slack for neither Bush nor Obama. (I wish I had a nickel for everytime I posted rant-y items on Bush and examples of his sociopathic behavior as part of a sociopathic family, sociopathic secret society (Skull&Bones), and sociopathic enclave hidden in our government's bureaucracy ever since the Bushes got a toehold via J.P. Morgan railroad scams and via the War Industries Board during World War I.)

I consider myself an Abolitionist of Political Exploitation by Corporations, since it IS a form of Slavery.

In order to really comply with the spirit of the second ammendment we need to form well regulated Militias. We have ignored this for decades we have wound up with militias as we see them today. What I think was intended would be more like our States National Guard units, which are now being used as they were never intended.

If we had been more diligent we would have promoted participation in local NG units by all of our citizens. We would be properly trained in the use of firearms of all types including automatic weapons, artillery, and whatever else is available to defend our communities in worst case situations. All of the "Good Stuff" would be stored at the community Armory and personal weapons would be kept by the people for their personal protection.

The National guard militias would be organized to respond to all situations unique to their respective States, people helping and protecting their families and neighbors. And in a threat to our nation they would be combined with other State militias to defend the Country.

We seem to have forgot the part of the Constitution that says basically that there will be no standing armies maintained by the Federal government.

To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;

To provide and maintain a Navy;

To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings;--
