Romans:13 is an interesting read for those needing a Biblical basis for government assistance to the poor and paying taxes. Thanks to Soujourner's for this: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans+13&version=NIV

When it comes to lying, the Republicans are going big and going long. I can only hope they'll also be going home.

Dinesh D'Souza remains the purveyor of the lowest . . . There are no kind words . . . Seeking to embody the "Douchetastic" is a waste of human genetic material.

The Earth receives about 174,000,000 gigawatts of sunlight. Obviously, we couldn't harness a decent fraction of that without seriously altering the face fo the planet.

Obama runs the risk of being a whiner if he points out that the Republicans have blocked him at every move. However, I think they might have a chance to get the message out if team Obama uses the theme that it is much easier to destroy than it is to build, much easier to do nothing than it is to do something. They could use stories that everyone can relate to to illustrate this truth. Then they could illustrate, with a few stories how the Republicans have done this. Finally, they could ask what would Mittens do differently than Obama.

From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"Thom Hartmann seeks out interesting subjects from such disparate outposts of curiosity that you have to wonder whether or not he uncovered them or they selected him."
Leonardo DiCaprio, actor, producer, and environmental activist
From Cracking the Code:
"No one communicates more thoughtfully or effectively on the radio airwaves than Thom Hartmann. He gets inside the arguments and helps people to think them through—to understand how to respond when they’re talking about public issues with coworkers, neighbors, and friends. This book explores some of the key perspectives behind his approach, teaching us not just how to find the facts, but to talk about what they mean in a way that people will hear."
Paul Loeb, author of Soul of a Citizen
From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"Thom is a national treasure. Read him, embrace him, learn from him, and follow him as we all work for social change."
Robert Greenwald, political activist and founder and president of Brave New Films
