In fact the name comes from an ancient mythic history of Britain by Geoffrey of Monmouth, in which the first humans to populate the island were refugee Trojans led by Brutus, whose name was lent to the island.
Indigenous peoples were a race of giants, the last of whom was hurled into the sea at Cornwall by, if memory serves, its first human duke. This last of the giants was Gogmagog.
By the way, the first large-scale study of resveratrol use by humans (appropriately enough in Chianti) shows no benefit in reducing heart disease, cancer, nor in promoting longevity.
As so often is the case, something which seems incredibly promising in vitro and in animal studies proves not so when applied to human beings.
