Since epidemiology has figured out that we can afford up to 6% of the population to go without vaccination, we can set up a compromise. Let there be a waiting list for not getting each vaccination (organized by what month the children are born in), and prioritize anyone with an individual medical reason (such as "bubble boys"). Then, because we can't take religion into account directly, have a lottery for who gets to be exempted. We might have to have someone from HHS go on TV and discourage people from putting their kids on the list just because they feel like it, so that people with religious objections (or some other semi-legitimate concern) have a greater chance of getting picked. I would hope, however, that kids whose parents object would amount to less than 6% of the population.

While there is a large consensus that parents should vaccinate their children, there is also, and should be a large distrust of big pharma. Their primary function is to make money and that they do.

Where Big Pharma makes money unnecessarily is primarily on things that treat but don't cure, so that you pay at a steady rate for decades. Vaccines are not in that arena.

"Giles" is most likely pronounced with a /j/ sound. George Martin, the Beatles' producer, has a son named Giles, and I know that's how he pronounces it.

So was Bush successfully in stealing oil from the Middle East?
