I think the fear-mongering is going the way of religious doomsday predictions and ancient sacrificial practices. When the predicted Obama dictatorship, or any aspect thereof, fails to materialize, the Republicans will just say they managed to fight it off rather than admit that it was never going to happen in the first place.

Thom was asking why, if there are good cops, they don't testify against the bad cops. The answer is, the police have their own "don't be a snitch" meme in their culture, and it's just as detrimental as the one prevalent in high-crime neighborhoods.

I've seen on Facebook a graphic (the sort of thing people think is a meme) that says, "I'll believe in good cops when they start turning in the bad ones." I have to agree.

Adam Curtis documentary "The Mayfair Set" and article "Financial Markets Now Control Everything"

Links to these I mentioned on your program today. Both are time well spent and very enlightening.

Regarding PBS caller:

The Capitol Steps, noted the changes in their 2006 CD 'I'm so Indicted' song for PBS titled 'GOP-BS'. This was because GW put one of his tools in charge (can't remember his name) to head this left wing station.

Thom's Blog Is On the Move

Hello All

Thom's blog in this space and moving to a new home.

Please follow us across to hartmannreport.com - this will be the only place going forward to read Thom's blog posts and articles.

From Cracking the Code:
"In Cracking the Code, Thom Hartmann, America’s most popular, informed, and articulate progressive talk show host and political analyst, tells us what makes humans vulnerable to unscrupulous propagandists and what we can do about it. It is essential reading for all Americans who are fed up with right-wing extremists manipulating our minds and politics to promote agendas contrary to our core values and interests."
David C. Korten, author of The Great Turning: From Empire to Earth Community and When Corporations Rule the World and board chair of YES! magazine
From Cracking the Code:
"Thom Hartmann ought to be bronzed. His new book sets off from the same high plane as the last and offers explicit tools and how-to advice that will allow you to see, hear, and feel propaganda when it's directed at you and use the same techniques to refute it. His book would make a deaf-mute a better communicator. I want him on my reading table every day, and if you try one of his books, so will you."
Peter Coyote, actor and author of Sleeping Where I Fall
From Screwed:
"If we are going to live in a Democracy, we need to have a healthy middle class. Thom Hartmann shows us how the ‘cons’ have wronged this country, and tells us what needs to be done to reclaim what it is to be American."
Eric Utne, Founder, Utne magazine
