Is It Time To Invoke The 25th Amendment And Remove Trump From Office?

After spending a year-and-a-half calling for Hillary Clinton to be sent to jail for disclosing classified information, Donald Trump now appears to be guilty of doing just that.

Is time to invoke the 25th Amendment and remove him from office?

According to a blockbuster story in the Washington Post, Donald Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian ambassador Sergey Kysliak when the two visited the White House last week.

According to the Post,

"Trump... discuss[ed] aspects of the threat that the United States only learned through the espionage capabilities of a key partner... [and] described how the Islamic State was pursuing elements of a specific plot and how much harm such an attack could cause."

As if that wasn't bad enough, this disclosure apparently came about about because Trump wanted to impress the Russians.

As the Post reports:

"In his meeting with Lavrov, Trump seemed to be boasting about his inside knowledge of the looming threat. 'I get great intel. I have people brief me on great intel every day'."

Is it seriously time Pence and other Republicans consider invoking the 25th Amendment? This is starting to remind me of Reagan's final years in office but without the stabilizing influence of Nancy Reagan.

As bad as Trump IS, Pence would be even worse. Why? Because Pence knows what he's doing, and is far better at the game of politics than Trump could ever dream of being.

So, impeach Trump, shoot Pence.

Does the 25th amendment include those that voted for Trump? I actually blame them more than Trump. It's not like anyone with a brain, eyes and ears could not know who this man was and what he is. No doubt, these were many of the same people that voted for Bush. They seem to have an obsession for shoving their heads up some lying authoritarian-oligarch's ass and gobbling up all the shit that comes down and then regurgitating it, as if it it's the truth, etched in stone.

Realistically, there is very little difference between Bush and Trump. Bush was just smart enough to allow himself to be handled by experienced corrupt politians, at least presenting an iota of credibility.

stecoop01, so then you get Paul Ryan who knows way more than Pence.

Repubs will not put country ahead of Party. This is their chance to serve their supporters, the 1%. Until every tax cut for the 1% and medicare and Social Security cuts are done, they will continue supporting this Fascist Regime. They also need a war to lock in 2020.

The only thin thread of hope is that each passing day reveals to every eligible voter just how dishonest, corrupt, and immoral Republicans actually are -- not just in theory -- and how important it is to vote them out of power in 2018 and 2020. Sadly, Legend's prediction of [even more] war is most probable.

Gawd, No.

Biggest mistake possible.

We need for him to be dangling in the wind between repugs and Drumpf voters until we get the House and/or Senate back.

It is NOT POSSIBLE for Drumpf to accomplish ANYTHING given his sanctimonious relationship with the rest of th world.

We NEED to keep this BUFFOON in the Oval Office as long as possible.

We don't want a pres Pence and his even-worse veep running the next election cycle machinery from the Bully pulpit.

We HAVE the best BULLY in the pulpit right now.

Hunker down.

Use him for what he is - a fly in the repug ointment.

Thanks.

I have to agree strongly with joebhed and especially last night's post by hephaestus, that being that there is a grand plan involving Pence replacing Trump. You may recall the mortification displayed by the Republican establishment when it became clear that Trump would be their nominee. But the bastards are very crafty and light on their feet. With a Pence in the wings, they stand to gain tremendous ground by letting Trump self destruct, and then, acting out this kabuki theater of regretfully rescuing the nation from its grievous error, installing yet another mindless ideologue in the Oval Office. One who is even now being portrayed as very “presidential”. One who will carry out the most draconian agenda of the far right more effectively than Trumple Thinskin ever could, because Pence, at least, has an IQ of over 85 and can presumably follow orders and stay on script. But as joebhed notes, time is of the essence. If we can just keep Trump in place until we approach the midterms, there is a slim chance that things will improve in the legislative branch. This assuming the earth doesn't become a charred and lifeless rock in the interim.

In an attempt to gain popular support Trump will do something desperate and extremely dangerous very soon. Israel wants Trump to bomb Iran, but a Korea hit, nuke an ISIS stronghold are both possible too? Who knows?

Putin only wants the oil deal with Tillerson's Exxon....other than that he's happy as hell that he ffdd our country up. He knows Trump is a complete fool.

This was all so predictable...we all saw it coming. Why the vast majority didn't demand the election be declared invalid I'll never know. We had our chance to stop this madness. Crooked Donny committed treason to become president...that makes Pence invalid too. "We the People" need to demand a new election.

What do you think the Teapublicans would be doing right now if the shoe were on the other foot? ..seriously!

Why is there silence about the Assad's crematorium activity? Didn't we learn anything from the last century? Putin supports Assad and Trump loves Putin, need I say more.

Methinks stopgap and 2950-10K are right: it's the plague of Bush/Trump's Foxmerized voters who are the true blight on the land, even more than the gilded scions who feed the faithful the content of their bowels.

Since this is a new age of plunder by the overlords, we lowly swabbers need to think like pirates. 63 million bottom-feeders tis lots of worthless landlubbers but still a fraction of the 220 million eligible Jack Tars who did not vote for this crew of scurvy dogs.

Avast Ye, mateys, out of the doldrums and heave to! We ain't marooned yet! Git yer swagger and sword -- it's time to mutiny before Cap'n Trumpinski and his bilge rats steer onto the doldrums and run us aground. Aye, make 'em walk the plank and feed the fishes. While yer at it, grab the booty and wet me pipe. Yo-ho-ho!

Okay, okay, enough grog for tonight.

This is simply today's episode of a serial that began with the election, spinning from the predictable "Trump stole the election!" to "Russia stole the election!" within days.

What is known is that there was a high-level meeting between US and Russian officials regarding a mutual plan to deal with ISIS. This was not a public meeting, transcripts weren't released to the public, and we don't actually know what was discussed. Such meetings, however, have long been regarded as "the norm."

It's always wise to get enough facts before forming your conclusions. What we have at this point is a media that have gone into overdrive to connect dots and fill in blanks without the necessary facts. We should have learned something from the example of Bush's tales about Iraq's "stockpiles of WMD."

DO NOT IMPEACH TRUMP! (nor do I want any other calamity to befall him). It will only make him a Martyr to his supporters, and hardened them against any reasonable pleas. Think how black voters would have responded if anything had happened to Pres. Obama.

Now the trumpeters are wanting to know why the media did not report on Obama'a ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. No facts or proof. Like his Attorney General, National Security Advisor, Son in Law, Or any other aid actually met with them under convert actions. Like Trump is being mistreated by the 1% owned and operated mainstream media.

Diane: "Whatever happened, the fake engineered drama of the day must only apply to the individual the leftie/socialists did not vote for.

'Obama Ordered The U.S. Intelligence Community To Share Intel With Cuba'"

First. "The Federalist" is absolutely not a credible source by any standard of objective journalism. It is one of the most slanted, right-wing "think" tanks, funded almost exclusively by a heavily partisan network of millionaires and billionaires, who are pushing an extreme agenda far out of the mainstream and in violation of basic democratic principles. In other words, it is the digestive juices in the belly of the oligarchical beast. If you're citing material like theirs, it's no wonder most of your posts are so factually incorrect.

Second. A case in point: The deflecting, one-sided, false-news "story" you linked to leaves out the critical information that detracts from its transparent slant, which can be easily debunked by any rudimentary search, such as:

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-classified-intelligence-disclosure-ad-hoc-other-presidents-history/

(note: Of course CBS is mainstream corporate media, but pay particular attention to Kathryn Watson's sources for this article, which will lead you to further credible research.)

Third. I see you've glommed onto another cute little phrase, of which you seem very proud, having repeated it several times in your recent posts: "fake engineered drama." Nice! Very clever, and so new and shiny too! Now, don't wear it out too fast by repeating it over and over in every single post ad nauseam, like "leftie/socialists." (Remember, Medicare pays for therapy to help you cope with senility -- that is, until Paul Ryan cuts it.)

"Google" Trump neurosyphillis. or Trump Alzeimers..see endless comments from medical and nerospecialists.not just psycho;ogists..the word salad, the megalomania, flapping his mini-hands like a fish out of water..etc. Trump bragged about his STDs as his personal Viet Nam..He justified avoiding military obligations due to a foot deformity. He never has released data from medical records. He paraded a so-called MD who touted him as the most perfect human speciman that he ever has seen ..UFO= Unfit For office..He and his appointees need to get some 3 "Rs" not reading and riting and rithmatic" but removal, replacement and restricted movement. OutBack is right. The entire Trump candidacy and presidency is a scam. He is supposed to be in office for about 6months than resign because of some phony pretext than the Right wing koch fascists have what they have wanted all along a rightwing monster named Mike Pence. It is imperative that trump not leave office . We have him hung around the Republicans neck and we want him to stay right there. This plot was hatched and agreed to around March of 2015 . I was told by someone who was in the room and heard it. I was going to expose it after he got the nomination but I don't know how to operate on social media. I need for someone to take this information and make sure everyone knows about it. It is a fact .MAKE IT GO VIRAL.

Why is it that we keep getting Republicans elected and then they are a total disaster. Do we have to keep repeating this? Bush/Cheney ignored the fact that Osama Bin Laden wanted to attack us and allowed 9/11 to happen. Led us into a hunt for Bin Laden in Afghanistan, missed him, then changed the mission to bringing democracy to the middle east and we are still there. Cut taxes for the wealthy. Then led us into Iraq with a lie. 4500 soldiers killed, 20000 wounded, Trillions of dollars spent, 1 million Iraqis killed and displaced, No bid contracts for Cheney's Company Haliburton. Put the economy in the tank. Then the USA elects another Republican and 120 days later (all 120 days, every single one) we are a total embarrassment again. Same could be said for Nixon and Reagan. Why would you ever vote Republican? Especially when the Republican Party only supports the 1%.
