Also discussed: a councilwoman's plea to the president to bail out her city, a college student's efforts to create a whites-only student union and Thom takes viewer phone calls in "Your Take, My Take Live." In tonight's "Daily Take" Thom asks what happens to a nation when one political party goes completely insane.

One Party Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest

Chances are - if there's a conspiracy theory out there - Republicans are going to fall hook - line and sinker for it. But what are the consequences for America when one of its political parties has gone totally insane? Tune in....

Your Calls/My Take LIVE - Racism in America

Thom Hartmann speaks with viewers and listeners.

Geeky Science - Sparrows use Cigarettes to Survive...

Walk down a city street - and you'll be hard pressed not to find dozens of cigarette butts lining the pavement. But what you see as garbage and litter - sparrows see as a tool for survival. I'll tell you how these little birds have adapted to living in the big city in tonight's Geeky Science segment.

The Good, The Bad and the Very Very Potomaniacly Ugly!

The Good! *Florida Democratic State Legislators* Take that Rick Scott. Two Democratic State Senators in the Sunshine State have introduced two bills that would re-institute the 14 days of early voting in Florida - that Governor Scott had reduced to only 8. Both bills could also increase the number of voting hours on each early-voting day. Unfortunately - Republicans control both chambers of the state legislature - but incoming Republican leaders have suggested that they would be amenable to changing voting laws in Florida. Let's hope that's the case - so that every Floridian that has the right to vote is able to in upcoming elections.

Is the white race under threat in America?

Matthew Heimbach, White Student Union, joins Thom Hartmann. Are white college students around the nation at a disadvantage because of their skin color? Is the entire nation headed for a critical moment in the near future when minorities overtake whites - and all hell will break loose? My next guest thinks so. And he's already taking steps to prepare - including trying to form a whites-only student union where he goes to school at Towson University.

Detroit had a Deathblow when Banksters Crashed America - They Need Help

Pastor D. Alexander Bullock, Rainbow PUSH, NAACP, join Thom Hartmann. Cities like Detroit, Michigan bore the brunt of the 2007 collapse of the nation's financial industry. Isn't it time the federal government stepped up - and helped get cities like Detroit back on their feet?

This $5.50 per hour worker in NYC demands a union!

Juan Campis, former car wash worker, joins Thom Hartmann. Hundreds of low-wage workers took to the streets of New York City - protesting for better working conditions and better salaries. We'll talk to someone who took part in today's events - and ask him where he sees the fight for a living wage going from here.

If at first you don't succeed...bribe, bribe again

Sheldon Adelson - the casino tycoon who helped bankroll the Romney campaign - is coming to Washington - even though his man isn't in the White House. Why is Adelson meeting with Republican lawmakers - and does he have alternative motives in mind?

The Good, The Bad and the Very Very Kedogenously Ugly!

The Good! *Elizabeth Warren* It was revealed yesterday that Senator-Elect Warren will have a seat on the highly influentional Senate Banking Committee - which is probably the worst nightmare of Wall Street fat cats. In fact - the finance industry is so afraid of Warren that it spent a whopping $6 million dollars trying to defeat her in the election. With a seat on the Banking Committee - Warren will be able to help protect the landmark Dodd-Frank financial reform law from being watered down. If I were a CEO on Wall Street - I'd be pretty scared right now - because Senator-Elect Warren is ready and willing to protect the American people from the harmful actions of the big banks.

Something more sinister is in the GOP plans for the 2016 Election...

The 2012 election may have come and gone - but Republicans across the country are already laying out their plans to rig the 2016 Presidential election. What needs to happen in this country so that everyone's right to vote is protected from the Right's never-ending war on voting.

Is it Time to Ditch the GDP?

everyone is always GDP this and GDP that. But - is obsessing over our nation's gross domestic product really the best way to talk about the growth and state of the American economy? In 1968 - Kennedy said this of measures like GDP and GNP: "Our Gross National Product, now, is over $800 billion dollars a year...if we judge the United States of America by that - that Gross National Product counts air pollution and cigarette advertising, and ambulances to clear our highways of carnage...

How dare someone speak up about gun violence in America!

Neil McCabe, Human Events Online, joins Thom Hartmann. Well - that's exactly what NBC Sports commentator Bob Costas did during Sunday's broadcast of Sunday Night Football. Costas was addressing the tragic murder-suicide involving Kansas City Chiefs player Javon Belcher. Here's what Costas didn't say... He didn't say the government should take away people's guns. He didn't say we should repeal the 2nd Amendment. And he didn't call for limits on gun ownership. Still - the conservative media and blogosphere lit up with fiery outrage towards Costas and Fox So-Called News is still talking about it today. So - have we really come to a point in this country where uttering the word "gun" is akin to screaming out the F word for all to hear?

Lone Liberal Rumble - 25% of GOP want their states to secede??
