When was the last time any of you all tried to check out your router/modem settings? I have found, a number of times, that the password on my DSL router/modem has been modified so I couldn't get into it to check the settings. It has worked ok online but have noticed some irregularities. Which is what prompted me to check my router/modem settings. I had to do a manual "reset" to reset my router/modem username and password to the default ones. Then, of course, I had to change to new ones. And I use rather lengthy passwords using numbers and letters (upper and lower case) and special characters. I know that my passwords have not just been reset because even the default passwords didn't work. So, this time, I have used a long totally nonsensical password with no pattern...random...something I would not be able to remember but have to write it down. Now, we'll see if they hack into my router/modem again. I'm going to have to start checking it every day and maybe even unplugging the phone line to it. No telling whether they can remotely activate my router/modem in the middle of the night to make changes. I normally turn my router/modem off when I'm not actually using it. But that shouldn't affect my password.

chuckle8 ~ Hey Chuck, don't knock those nanoparticles! I for one am grateful to find out about them! It explains all those stupid voices in my head. Especially that really annoying one that keeps reminding me to pay my taxes. Gee, for a while I thought I was going nuts.

Aliceinwonderland ~ I also agree with everything you said. However, I feel compelled as an American to give my current Commander and Chief the benefit of the doubt till the end. It is somewhat difficult to quantify that doubt though. All I can say is this, I wouldn't take your bet regardless of the odds you gave me.

chuckle8 ~ An even better argument for the 2nd amendment is that back in 1776 the new Republic was surrounded by a nation of indigenous people who were profoundly better fighters and hopelessly outnumbered Europeans settlers/invaders; and, the only way colonists could steal their land successfully is by making sure each and every invading European had been armed with superior weapons.

There were several greedy and shortsighted reasons for the 2nd amendment. That doesn't change the wording or meaning of the law. It is what it is; and, that is what we have to deal with today.

Marc, there's not a damn thing in your #26 post I disagree with. All excellent points!

Far as Obama is concerned, I hate to be a cynic but I'd bet $$ that when his term in office ends, he'll have done absolutely NOTHING to bring these sleazy, fascist war criminals to justice. Any president who targets journalists and whistle blowers like Barak the Betrayer has, and murders children with drones, is himself a criminal. With few exceptions, criminals don't prosecute criminals unless plea bargaining is involved, or some other form of bribery.

Chuck, thanks for pointing out who owns the Wall Street Journal! It figures. That little Aussie fascist prick owns so much of our "media" now, it's hard to keep track. And by the way, his name's Rupert Murdoch, not Robert… unless he's got a son or sibling I don't know about.

You guys rock. I love bloggin' with you! - AIW

truth springs e... ~ So the government wants to control and read my mind through nanotechnology? They really want to climb inside my mind and read it? They want to control my conscious? Really? Well good luck! I've been trying to figure it out how to do that now for over half a century and every year it just gets more discouraging than the last. If I wasn't lost and stuck in here I'd find the closest exit and abandon ship. They're more than welcome to try though. Drop in anytime--I'll leave the light on. Just better make sure to bring a map because I sure can't help them find their way out; and, I doubt they are going to want to stay very long.

PS Don't bring Dick Cheney! He's not invited!

tru springs -- Do you listen to Thom? Thom spends a lot of time on things not normally called political. On the other hand, have you mentioned anything that is not political?

  • Dick Cheney Should be Rotting in The Hague, Not Writing Editorials   11 years 5 weeks ago

    DAnneMarc -

We talk about the oligarchs and the never ending struggle against their oppression of citizen's rights. Thoms show looks at the single one dimensional system; the political arena. Our world operates far beyond this puppet show.

What do those in power want? More power.

Simple answer - Transhumanism, the power to control our consciousness.

Here is a good article on the subject -

"Just think Minority Report – utilizing nano-tech BioAPI, where your coherent thoughts are read and sampled by a supercomputer in real time, you can be controlled before you even act on your desire to overthrow a government or host a sit-in outside Monsanto’s annual shareholder meeting." - Christina Sarich

Quote truth springs e...:Did you know that the barium and aluminum oxide that is being dispersed by these atmospheric spray campaigns have nano particles that move right into our cellular structure?

Did you know that Monsanto is currently marketing an aluminum resistance gene?

    Coincidence?

What if we and the planet are being bio-engineered?

truth springs e... ~ Interesting information and hypothesis. Might I ask for what reason; and, to what ends?

  • Dick Cheney Should be Rotting in The Hague, Not Writing Editorials   11 years 5 weeks ago

Palin, your on the right track.

Now tell me, why does Thom consistenly ridicule so called 'conspiracy theories' as he says they are all formed by right wing wackos?

Maybe he doesn't quite understand the world outside of politics or maybe he does.

On this show he said he wasn't even quite sure what a pentagram was.

It's interesting that he has interviewed Alex Jones but defers from any other 'controversial' speakers/researchers.

All this talk about climate change, but no one is willing to look up and see what's happening in our skies.

Was Rachel Carson a 'conspiracy nut' as well?

Did you know that the barium and aluminum oxide that is being dispersed by these atmospheric spray campaigns have nano particles that move right into our cellular structure?

Did you know that Monsanto is currently marketing an aluminum resistance gene?

    Coincidence?

What if we and the planet are being bio-engineered?

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

goat-on-a-stick -- Are you from the Mediterranean? In any case, when I (and OWS) speak of the 1%, we are speaking of the people whose personal income and/or wealth is great enough to influence political opinion. In small communities, being in the top 1% could be sufficient. For national policies, one may have to be in the top 0.01%, or higher, to influence policies. The NRA (i.e. gun manufacturers) is an example where the 0.01% are influencing national policy.

Palindromedary and Willie W ~ Seriously, what difference does it make whether the Bush cabal orchestrated 911 or simply allowed it to happen in the eyes of the law? Aiding and abetting a crime before or after the fact ALWAYS carries the same penalties as the crime itself. Ignoring the intelligence, failure to conduct security briefings after being warned by the previous administration and the intelligence community, destroying critical evidence at the scene, and going out of your way to allow the Bin Laden family to escape the country clearly qualifies as aiding and abetting before, during, and after the fact. (Mind you this is just 911 and doesn't even touch on the entire crime of intentionally lying this country into two illegal wars.) As far as I am concerned that incriminates everyone in both the Bush and the Obama administrations as accessories in the crime--regardless of who actually did it.

Thats right, the Obama administration too; perhaps especially so. Failure to do your job and investigate the obvious allegations for the previous administration when placed in that high office is nothing more than aiding and abetting the accessories in the crime to go free. That act should equally carry the same penalty. I will give Obama this much slack--he has until the end of his term to make good on his oath of office and conduct these investigations. It is understandable that he may have pushed this issue till the end because such an investigation would completely disrupt his ability to do anything else in office; and, clearly, he has much to do. I understand that. However, if he fails completely and tries to walk away from this with impunity like it never happened, he--and everyone else in his administration--becomes another accessory after the fact.

By the way, the same thing goes double for President Gerald Ford! Don't forget, Rumsfeld and Cheney both served as Chiefs of Staff under Ford. After getting away with the crime of pardoning Nixon see what they did to the country?

Mccowley, you make an excellent point. And the rage of the revenge seekers is absolutely justified. The tragedy of course is that those who become the targets of their revenge are not the ones to blame. It's always the innocents who pay the ultimate price.

Nothing would please me more than to see Cheney, Baby Bush and all those other fascist war criminals swinging in the gallows, as PD suggests. But in this environment, that ain't gonna happen. In the "eyes" of this corporate fascist media they will always be heroes. Until that changes and our media is de-corporatized, I will not tolerate TV in my house.

Whether it's pay-or-die healthcare we're talking about, or the "War on Drugs" or U.S. hegemony, it all boils down to one thing: millions of human lives sacrificed for corporate profit. Capitalism kills. It will take no less than worldwide resistance on a massive scale to put a stop to it. And that is a "right to life" movement I could definitely get behind!

In the meantime, discussions like this one help me stay sane. It is comforting to read these wonderful posts and see that I'm not the "lone ranger". I'm feeling connected with people in this forum who, in all likelihood, I'll never meet face-to-face. Because after all, nothing is more bonding than sharing a common enemy. - Aliceinwonderland

DAM -- Have you met Patrick Henry the largest slaveholder in Virginia?

Quote DAnneMarc:Secondly, you have to remember that the founding fathers were very educated and insiteful.

He forced the 2nd amendment into the constitution so he could control his slaves. He was part of the 1% of the day. He wanted the 2nd amendment to suppress "freedom and liberty".

Quote DAnneMarc:Whether that be against an oppressive government or someone trying to steal your slaves is irrelevant.

Article1, section 8 seems to say militias were never to be used against our government no matter how oppressive. Patrick Henry had no fear of anyone stealing his slaves. Pat was worried about his slaves trying to free themselves.

Well, the war-chicken-hawks could always pick up their weapons, charter their own airplane and war vehicels, spend their own treasure and lives, and try to fight for their oil profits/interests on their own. (How did our oil get under their sand?)

We should not spend anymore taxpayer (the people who actually PAY taxes) treasure or the lives of OUR children to protect THEIR interests. It's the best time for the United States to become dependent on renewable energy, create new jobs, and give science all the money used on the wars that protect business to advance cold fusion and wind and solar.

It's not like the current civil strife was an unknown quantity. The Iraqi people have to stand up for themselves. They have an army trained and equiped by the US--at taxpayer expense. They need to spend their own treasure to fight for their country.
