This is why Republicans win elections. They stand firm against anything the Democratic party supports, even when it is legislation the Republicans previously suypported. Dems cave.
The real sad truth is that both parties are to blame. The only thing they truly care about is getting re-elected. Nothing is ever going to change. It will only get worse. Tell me I'm wrong.

I actually agree somewhat with both questions, except that I'd pay more to bring jobs back in addition to saving lives, although I think the first question would accomplish both?
Great article but when is anyone going to actually do something about it. Why hasn't anyone attacked the big boys by calling a boycott of products their companies sell. Stain Master Carpets for example by the Koch Brothers. The only way to get their attention is to affect their income.

Ken Ware ~ Sorry I have been so busy I haven't had a chance to respond. Yes, I accept your apology. I too would like to apologize for snapping back. I apologize to you and everyone else for my behavior. A fine example of turning the other cheek that was. You, I and everyone here have strong feelings for our Country and we sometimes vent those feelings on each other. A true waste of energy. Besides, everything I said before was only pure conjecture--not one ounce of concrete evidence. Let's hope I was wrong.
By the way, I also managed to catch that heartfelt and sober rant of yours yesterday about student lunch programs. Bravo, brother! You hit that nail right on the head. When people of means in our society seek to deny a child necessary food it is a sad statement about our society indeed. Education is the number one priority in every species. You must be very proud of you daughter's vocation. You are so right to invoke Karma in this situation because that is exactly the energy field that listens to such ignorant, greedy, and indecent complaints. Like the song says, "I believe that children are the future, teach them well and let them lead the way..." Anything less is symptomatic of a species being on the path toward extinction.

What we all realize in our politics is different people are from the same places. These people can always be characterized as rich, well connected, and geared to make more money then you or I ever dreamed of. Projecting into the future the America system has the same ‘kind” of educated guess that has been extrapolated across the Gaussian Laplacian academic trail speed bump or what is called “common ground bell curve” throughout the American economic plane for decades.
Actually this year marks the hundredth anniversary of the famous Jekyll Island banksters system of America. The start of the Federal Reserve banking system the money pit of secret money deals happened at this small island off Georgia. No wonder Georgia is solid Republican.

Since I just voted for the board of directors for Shell, I would like to inform you it is not an American company. As a matter of fact, it is called Royal Dutch Shell and the Americans on the board seem to be tokens and sleazy private equity firm guys.
The only reason they want to run that pipeline through the USA is because the Canadian citizens, led by the 1st citizens(?), do not want that pipeline destroying their environment. According to details provided by Greg Palast based on events from most other pipelines, a clean pipeline is an imaginary fantasy.
The democrats in our congress tried to amend the Keystone pipeline legislation, to demand that some small percentage of the refined product remain in the US. Republicans blocked it from happening. As a Canadian you should be against the pipeline also because, per Thom, in the Trans-Canada proposal they said the exporting of all that oil would cause a price increase of 20 cents per gallon of gasoline. I'll bet that 20 cents is one of the lowest lower bounds ever stated.

A new poll by Pew Research indicates firearm homocides decreased markedly between 1993 and 2011. This runs against my preconceptions. I wonder what's up with that? I consider Pew one of our more reliable sources. The "more guns is better" crowd will no doubt pick this finding up to support their position.

Yes, but do you really think that our own military (our own sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles, nephews, or nieces) would kill their own sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles, nephews, or nieces in the streets of America? As has happened in other countries..soldiers have refused to fire on their own populations...that tank in Tiananmen Square didn't run over that protester standing in front of it. Of course there are always exceptions...like Rachael Cory being run over by a bulldozer in Israel. But hey, the Israelis fired on and torpedoed the USS Liberty...and Israel was supposed to be our ally. They probably even used weapons that the US supplied to them. Talk about "pay back". It was no accident. They knew full well who they were firing at.
