  • Florida Governor Rick Scott doubles down on his illegal purge of Democratic voters   13 years 8 weeks ago

What's going on is shameful. But now people have to really get motivated. Everyone needs to check and make sure that they're on the rolls and that there isn't an excuse to be used to knock them off. And if that means that they have to jump through the hoops set up by people like Walker, then that's the case. It is unfortunate that it has been made so hard to vote. And yes, it is hard (or sometimes unnecessary) for some people to get to the DMV to get a license or a state ID. But that's the game the right is playing so people need to figure out a way to do it (and there is always a way to do it). And maybe there needs to be a drive of some sort to help those who can't easily obtain the required forms of ID get them. They need to be on the voter rolls. They need to be able to cast their votes so that hopefully sanity will win. Then perhaps this nonsense can be changed back. And those who've been knocked off the voter rolls should see what they can do about suiing the state of Florida for denying their civil rights. Everyone in the US can help with this stuff, but it's he people personally affected who need to get out there and shout.

This is the true election fraud. Pure 1920s corruption. And it's terrible that the people are now in the position to once again have to fight for our rights.

The REAL enemies of American Democracy are not in some far off country.

THEY'RE RIGHT HERE IN GOVERNORS MANSIONS, STATE AND US LEGISLATURES, AND THE MANSIONS OF THE FILTHY RICH.

    Why can't people see that???

    THOM,

You simply argue that government is better suited to deliver certain functions to the society it serves and that corporations are lliability shields that require a proper level of reasonable regulation.

It appears that Peter Ferrara lacks even a basic operational command of the English language, hence the his misapplication of the word "Fascist". Although I have no personal knowledge rearding his upbringing, his poor languaging points readily to the concept that . . . If Mr. Ferrara had had access to a good public education during his grammar school years, he would have avoided mislabeling you, personally, for making simple and logical statements.

I hate when paid idiocrats litter conversations with un-factual and unfounded ad hominem attacks and patronizing remarks when they are not allowed to mindless reiterate their idiocy infinitum or even the dimmest of light reveals the utter worthless of their argument. Additionally, their continual insistence that institutionalizing oppression through voiding laws is a choice that needs to be labeled “freedom” irks the crap out of me.

A few years ago, I heard someone on the radio say that it's an accident of history that schools depend on property tax, and this setup means poor neighborhoods have underfunded schools.

At the very least, it would make sense to have the police and fire departments use that money instead, since bigger homes require more of those services. (Although violent crime probably has a reverse correlation, so I wouldn't hold strictly to that one source of funds.)

Additionally (as with post-Prop 13 California), Property Taxes can be stymied by a corporation holding a hunk of dirt and any improvements . . . In the case of commercial and industrial real estate, “Real Property” never trades . . . The holding company is sold and the assets are sheltered from increased basis.

So . . . Nice try, but I think we have to address Property Taxes discrepancies another way.

Unfortunately, suspending Property Taxes on folk who have been financially "wiped-out" means government would be suspending Property Taxes for Donald Trump every three years or so.

This, also, revisits the basic taxation fallacy of Income Taxes:

    1. Laborers pay taxes based upon their gross income; Income Taxes for workers are REVENUE taxes.

    2. Wealth-hoarders and corporations pay taxes based upon NET PROFITS with specific codified income and/or taxation offsets. A well prepared balance sheet will show low or no income.

So suspending Property Taxes on folk who have been financially "wiped-out" means government would never collect Property Taxes.

We really need the press to take on this issue by challenging politicians to identify the basis upon which they hold their economic beliefs. Some of these policy prescriptions are irrational and they are making vague references to theories that are completely out of context to the circumstances at hand.

The press must help the voters understand when this is happening, and expose the ulterior motives that politicans have when they hold irrational positions.

THOM! Your poll for today missed the answer that is true:

No, Skeletor Snyder's pretense at a showdown means nothing; it is idiocracy at its worst.

Yes, Re/TEApublicans have been purging rolls for over a half of a century and this is illegal.

    The real answer is:

A.G. Holder is averse to actually performing the duties of his office especially when it involves Re/TEApublican malfeasance. Governator Snyder NEEDS to be publically prep-walked and spend a century or two in jail for every voter wrongfully purged, but, unfortunately, Holder's DoJ will get around to dealing with this in the year 2525 AD . . . maybe.

  • Will Florida's Gov Rick Scott be sucessfull in Suing Feds Over Voter Purge?   13 years 8 weeks ago

    Thom -

On another topic, high fructose corn sugar has been linked to causing diabetes. Science (see April 17th Science News, or Febuary 21st National Science Foundation Newsletter) has shown that fructose in corn syrup directly stimulated the pancreas to release insulin into the bloodstream and decrease sugar levels. If used repeatedly this contributes to the creation of disease Diabetes in humans.

Maybe the Major of New York is onto something, limiting the size of soft drinks.

As a Florida resident I'm sick and tired of this Criminal-- who should be in jail for Medicare Fraud, using OUR tax dollars to pay Lawyers to do what WE THE PEOPLE OF FLORIDA overwhelmingly don't want him to do. He has fired teachers, government employees and underfunded our colleges and police departments. We've had enough!

way to go , I agree with you and believe that you have set out a format that may drive the( not so informed ) to check their selves if they have any self reason. a good attitude as you have presented will sweep through the uninformed if you can find a way to present it to the masses. good luck .

I find it interesting that John Bahner was not a member of this meeting. I guess he is just a figure head in the House Of representatives.

Insanity!......Mitt Romney and seven other individuals divide up a pie which has been sliced into ten pieces. Inflicted by a delusion that it's his preordained privilege and no rules to stop him, Romney quickly grabs nine pieces. The other seven individuals divide up the remaining piece evenly. Along come Cantor and Ryan. They convince four of the seven that it makes good economic sense to give Romney additional crumbs from what they ended up with. These four in turn decide to justify their idiocy by joining the tea party so they can scream about how unfair it is that the three other Romney victims who happen to be SANE have so much!

How about a..... "Joe the Romney victims"..... national bus tour. They could tour the country giving testimony related to their job loss and theft of retirements etc.

My answer to Thom's on the air question....I call it DOMESTIC ECONOMIC TERRORISM! although treason applys well.

It is an historical struggle between humanism and improving the quality of life, and materialism that exploits labor, resources, and controls populations for profit. The wealth created becomes a mental problem or handicap for the wealthy causing them to dismiss the humanism qualities as something they can not do anything about.

Maturity for the human condition would be to grow beyond feudalism or corrupt capitalism that becomes controlling and psychologically psychopathic or not having the ability to empathically understand our fellow men and women as equals. The struggle for humanity to be on an equal playing field durring our short life is the history of classism the rich controlling the wealth and propagandizing the poor to accept their lot.

Raising all boats is the goal and capitalism when unregulated or not controlled corrupts government, makes laws to favor greed and material power over humanism as health, education, and equality. Seems the struggle in Europe is keyed to the banks (All Banks from All Nations) faulting on their "bets" to increase their wealth at the cost of the world economy. The trick is to hide the insider trading while losses are blamed on 3d world countries.

New Old World peasants soon we'll be.

Has the whole bloody world forgotten the French Revolution and what brought it about?

Advanced weapons technology WILL NOT stop an angry populace from overthrowing an insensitive and irresponsible government.

don't know if it has anything to do with anything but when i do a tax return and for the life of me i can't figure out why someone with only 3k of earned income is getting a $978 earned income tax credit, which by the way is a refund, makes me wonder about just how screwed up the whole tax code is. think about it. i work for my stipend that is a few K more then the folks getting the EIC, which by the way is a refund!!! and yet I have to pay to give $$$ to those making less. just another form of well fare? or a stupid hole in the tax code that just pisses folks like me off more and more!!!! the rich get richer on the tax code and i get poorer as my tax $$$ are going to other working stiffs? i don't get it! moreover if you do the math and say 1,000,000 people get a 1k credit, which by the way is a refund thats a billion bones just handed out as freely as wellfare and the stupid first time home buyers tax credit, which by the way was a refund!!! America in my opinion is far from broke its just run by a bunch of thieves and corporate pigs. not to mention obviously a bunch of law makers who seems to be about as dim as a lowly burning out light bulb! ONE BILLION DOLLARS! JUST THINK ABOUT IT! I bet a good team auditors and controllers could easily find $250-$500 billion a year in just eliminating loop holes and stupid low income perks. its a thousand bucks either way out of my pocket and into someone elses? screwed up i tell ya just screwed up. What are they going to do when it all realy goes to hell in a hand basket?

Every country whether Eurpoean or no european is following the western financial mantra, DEBT, more Debt.

those with wealth sit on it ,unless there is reinvestment in all the worlds economies, these efforts are just avoiding the inevitable

all this suffering for nothing, as " FoundingFreedoms" post states

    "WHEN WILL THIS GREED STOP"

Abstinence Only Works, That surely has to be the reason for the decrease in the Phytoplankton population. Couldn't be the acidification of the water due to burning sulfur containing hydrocarbons causing carbonic acid? Nah, not in Republicon world. .
