  • Voter Purge...Rick Scott gives the finger to Washington!   13 years 9 weeks ago

I would LIKE to think that Rick Scott and is gang of "officials" would be held in contemppt and prosecuted. I would LIKE to think that there will be a well organized effort to help register voters and drive them to the polls. I would LIKE to think that Florida citizens protest so loudly that Scott will back down. But unfortunately, I fear that money speaks louder than words and this will just become another example of how our democracy is going down in flames and being sold to the highest bidder.

  • Will Scott Walker become the 1st Governor to beat a re-call election?   13 years 9 weeks ago

In the 2010 election, Barrett and Walker were close, about 1 million votes each.

There were 1 million recall signatures collected (840,000 "valid"), a great start.

Plus people are more informed about ALEC, the John Doe probe is closing in on Walker, the new DNR czar is talking about privitizing public hunting grounds etc. There are even Republican groups formed to tell people NOT to vote for Walker.

And there has been a tremendous mobilization of get out the vote, esp in Milwaukee's poorer districts.

The DOJ needs to get involved in TX like it did in FL. Any word on that?

I believe in justice, equal justice under the "LAW" if you can find someone to enforce the laws! that would be refreshing!!

The huge 'I Stand With Walker' originate from the Americans for Prosperity'

People are finding them in their yards without permission, they take them down and they reappear.

AFP is also offering $100 to $500 if you post their sign on your property.

I suspect that's why I94 from Milwaukee to Madison (mostly farmland) has all these huge 4x8 foot signs along the road.

Yesterday, people are also being paid $11 - $13 an hour to canvass as long as they didn't sign the recall petition.

Today, they are mis-informing students and some city clerks are confused about what to do with students. Through twitter and ads (Barrett is bad for jobs), people are directed to call Barrett campaign HQ.

I still believe Barrett will win!

I'm a registered Democrat in Florida and I'm glad Scott is going ahead with it. Everyone seems to forget about the ACORN scam in 2008. I value my vote and I want to make sure no Illegal, dead person is casting a vote

Vortiginously ugly: having to do with vortices. Even though the stem of "vortex" is "vortic-" (so that it would have been "vorticiously"), it was apparently influenced by the existence of the word "vertiginous".

Guess what! After 30 years in the same small town rural precinct and a registered DEM I got a new voter registration card a couple of weeks ago, never really looked at it. Figured it is was just time for a new one.

NOPE! Just went to vote in the primary here in Santa Fe County. I am not on the list of DEMS!

Back of my new card (knock me over with a damn feather) says DTS...declined to state. Not a DEM anymore?

    Fat Chance!!

Voted provisional and gonna raise hell.

By the way, I have an Hispanic last name...

    re: Scott Walker recall
Scott Walker/Scott Fitzgerald have done all of these things in one year in Wisconsin:
    - Reversed labor negotiation rights, when campaigned on - Passed voter ID laws designed to restrict voting (not yet in effect)
    - Redistricting to favor Republicans
    - Repealed equal pay for women
    - Repealed abuse of women act
    - Restrictions on DNR and environmental laws; (for example, DNR has 5 days to pass permits like large factory farms of 5000+ cows with hugh manure pits within site of schools, residences. These jobs go to migrant workers)
    - Public schools can now teach abstinence only
    - Job growth of 30K jobs currently being sold on TV ads. The same number 30K was used in RNC emails last fall in November. I received one the day after the local paper had published job losses of 7,9000 in Sept and over 11,000 in October. Theories include 30K summer jobs effectively go away after summer tourism/construction season, or 30K is gross, not net jobs, or 30K are any jobs, like one Wis company building a plant in China, adding a lot of jobs there, while laying off workers in Wis and Michigan.
    - Someone who works in WI state dept. said (unconfirmed) the budget balancing was actually done the way every other governor has addressed it, by restructuring the debt.
    - And everyone knows about the 1.6 B cuts to education, millions in cuts to health programs for poor women/students, assigning those dollars to corporate cuts
    - The negative job loss ads attributed to Tom Barrett as mayor or Milwaukee also apply to Scott Walker who was Milwaukee County Executive (where most of the industrial jobs loss occurred) during all of the same years of governing, except the past year when he has been able to reign his pain on the rest of the state.
    - What's left of the ALEC agenda that has not been passed. Welcome back to the 1950s.

They don't want us to vote? Maybe they want us to riot and break out the guillotines instead?

An example of how the rich are screwing us comes in California where many wealthy doctors have joined an organization to defraud us. Yes, it is Aetna that is suing this organization and it makes us wonder whether it is the thieves who are suing the thieves in this battle but it's like when thieves shoplift...the merchants have to raise their prices to cover their losses. In this case it is wealthy doctors who are in on this scam to defraud us and not some downtrodden and abused poor person on welfare. The rich want us to think that it is the hordes of uneducated, lazy, bums who are causing all the economic problems. But most of the economic problems are caused by the cockroaches and leeches on society who have most of the money and are not satisfied with that until they have everyone else begging in the streets.

The scam involved doctors, who had invested in this scheme, referred their patients to out of system doctors who charged as much as 10 times the normal rate for medical care..like operations...(a typical $1000.00 colonoscopy was going for $10,000 by the out of system doctors). A bunion removal was $69,000 when the normal price would have been about $6000. That might account for part of the reason why health insurance rates are skyrocketing and why many people just can't afford to have it.

Aetna's computers, so they claimed, were not catching the discrepancies and would pay off the inflated prices. The patients thought this was great because they didn't even have to pay a co-pay. And most of the patients who were going along with this scheme had the better insurance packages....ie: they themselves were in positions, economically, to have or afford the best insurance. The article is in last Sunday's San Jose Mercury News (6-3-12).

I don't know how long this scam has been going on but I remember many years ago when I needed a colonoscopy and I was trying to "shop around", even though I had company insurance, I found that it was like pulling teeth trying to get a price. One guy nervously hem-hawed around and said $10,000.00, but wasn't quite sure, and after checking more places found out that it was a lot less. I think they charged about $2,000...and that was many, many years ago. The insurance took care of most of it.

I'm anxious to see just how far the law will go to appropriately punish (lofty fines and jail sentences as well as losing medical licenses) these criminals.

In America, you can't afford to live...just die! And if war is being waged against the people to the extent that they will lose their lives then maybe we need to reassess alternatives to the effete and criminal election system where your vote only keeps alive the lie that democracy rules in America. Democracy in America is a sham and a scam because it has been hijacked by wealthy ruling elite criminals. Let's hear it for "self-defense" for a change.

. . .Due to the fact that we have had years and years of uncontrolled immigration. I am not opposed to relaxing the standards for migrating here, but having to check for identification is the consequence of bad policy in preceeding years.

For those having problems registering...register Republican but vote Democrat or Independent.

Obviously, it is now apparent that we need a national ID like those in the social democracies of Europe. We admire the German model, and there it is legally required to have the national ID at age 16.

I am an Independent Conservative who has never voted Democrat or Republican for a Presidential Election. If there is "Overwhelming Evidence" I don't see it in the blog, post or comments. Right now I am feeling very Underwhelmed by the evidence.

    Hi from Canada.

I probably shouldn't involve in your politics but we're cousins, right?

So Elizabeth Warren for next President after she's seated in the Senate.

Real hope and change, not the wishy washy politics of Obama.

Riverside, you are absolutely correct. overopulation IS the major problem, and no one seems to want to address the issue. Territorial wars will be on the increase if we don't get a grip on this problem. Anybody remember "Soylent Green"?

The mail-in ballot in CA was so staggering, I had to run my finger down a list of two dozen Senatorial candidates to find Dianne Feinstein. It was not alphabetical--the first candidate was Orly Taitz, the Republican darling, The candidate's name above Dianne Feinstein was named Feinland. Wow. Corrupt? I promised myself I would stop saying "it's unbelievable" but holy you-know-what--it's unbelievable.

One way or another. I hope the easy way. Koch brothers, listen up! You are going down. No amount of money can protect you from the MILLIONS that are against you. Change your ways or be swept away!

If it's not done this year, then there will be a really big uprising once people start to experience a total meltdown of the democracy and realize their mistake.

  • Voter Purge...Rick Scott gives the finger to Washington!   13 years 9 weeks ago

Lest we forget the Rickster avoided jailtime after his company paid a record setting 1.7 billion in medicare fraud fines. His reward for stealing from everyones medicare payroll deductions was the citizens in Florida made him their Governor????? This would give any putz a feeling of invincibility.

The consequences of illegal activities such as the voter purge, in his world, amount to only more empowerment and self-enrichment. Consequences to society are catastrophic, look what happened when Florida illegally made Bush President. This time the Supreme Court is at stake!

    Good luck to Gov. Barrett!
