    "Yes"

Global warming? Oh no, it couldn't be! People must be insane to say global warming does not exist. What more do they need, Dorothy and Toto?

Here in Washington State we have had a terribly rainy Winter and Spring. I think we have had only two days over 65 degrees since October 2010. We have had record rainfall two months in a row. Last month we had snow and at night the temperatures were still going down below 40 degrees. Many people are just now beginning to plant their gardens and we are getting close to June 1.

Hello Gerald, in reply to friday #31, I mainly run for fitness at my age, but still race fairly successfully,40 years and counting, with stress reduction being a positive side effect. Although as I mentioned in the blog, even running myself into the ground does not always rid me of the political frustrations we all share in common. Actually we need to thank Thom and Louise for providing us with the outlet to vent, I think that's the real political stress reduction tool, for me anyway! Gerald, keep the faith and fight on!

President Obama needs to declare war on the, "ECONOMIC RECOVERY INERTIA", being perpetuated by the maniacs in the house of unrepresentatives. Dammit all, in a true democracy people matter, and government has a responsibility to the people. For elected officials to sit idly by and do nothing but play - cut social programs and spending, so my rich backers can get more tax breaks, is the most numb-nutted thing they could possibly do as we teeter on the verge of total economic collapse, just ask any true economist.

These Tea -bag political terrorists should all be put under house arrest, and forced to read "The Grapes of Wrath". I'm so ashamed of lack of will, with the exception of a few good men like Senator Sanders, being exhibited to stop the totally un-democratic madness. We need FDR and his fifth cousin,TEDDY again!

To answer the question, no unapproved wars should ever happen, they are both immoral and unaffordable, or draft the rich and then see what happens!

Can WE continue to let the right wing, MIC loot the people of the USA, by continuous wars?

    Hell no!

Liberals don't march lock step to any one that isn't progressively representing the people. Obama is only slightly liberal. The shadow government/4th Reich has to much power these days. It shows but no one knows what the threats or perks there are hidden within.

Does it seem like he has a gun to his families head? Is the military budget grossly high?

Damn right the president should get authorized by Congress for continued operations in Libya, if for no other reason than no one else has bothered to act according to the laws of the country since Carter. Although I have no doubt President Obama will, along with any other witless dirt bag that follows, of any party.

This country is returning to similar values and rules by the supposed "elite" that caused the Revolution with England in the first place.

Climate change is creating extreme weather, especially wind and precipitation. We're having high winds here in Arizona and no rain, which is increasing the possibility for wildfires.

NRA 2nd Amendment-States w/"standing army" warnings..TH--Here's the skinny on the NRA booklet called "The Essential Second Amendment Guide", published in 2007, (ISBN#978-0-9724131-1-4) at my suggestion (and others I'm sure) from a 2005 e-mail to Wayne LaPierre. On page 30-31 it actually states "The Russians lost in Afghanistan and the US and French in Vietnam" (wow!)..In the Appendix A (page 116, "Guarantees of the right to arms..") it lists states rights, some with "Standing Army" warnings as follows, alphabetically, Kansas, (.."standing armies, in time of peace, are dangerous to liberty..") bill of rights ss4-1859, Massachusetts, (.."in time of peace, armies are dangerous to liberty..") Cons. part 1, Art. XVII, 1780, North Carolina, (.."standing armies in time of peace are dangerous to liberty.."), Art.I,ss 30, 1971, 1876, 1868, 1776, Ohio, ("..but standing armies, in time of peace, are dangerous to liberty, they shall not be maintained..") Art.I, ss 4, 1851, 1802, South Carolina, ("..in times of peace, armies are dangerous to liberty.."), Art.I, ss 20, 1895, 1868, Vermont, ("..as standing armies in time of peace are dangerous to liberty, they ought not to be kept up.."), Chap. I, Art. 16, 1777, Virginia, ("..that standing armies, in time of peace, should be avoided as dangerous to liberty..."), Art. I, ss 13, 1971, 1776. These are the seven states that specifically mention "standing armies" with the dire warning that's never mentioned anymore..The whole NRA booklet is 160 pages and quite well written with mucho colonial history and quotes by founding fathers..Thanks, Steve Merrill, North Troy.

the Wodrow Wilson Center had a great show on C-span2 that showed the War Powers Act, is a real joke anyway. in that they related one time in which there was " 1" Senator, in the entire room, and the speaker. so, as to officials, there was the senator and one other person of official statis, and the desk staff in the entire room. the senator submitted the bill to enact the war powers, the chair asked for voice vote, and the senator stated "YES" to the vote. and the speaker asked for no votes, thus there were none, and the desk, speaker stated the yes have the vote, being there were no opposing vote(s) ! and the war powers act went into effect. so, if you were to watch the Wodrow Wilson Center show in archive, titled Congress, and the War Powers Act, and you would see how it has and can and was misused to when it was used to take us to war. but, now its not relevent, as we will be at endless WAR ! anywhere and anytime.

The news at the top of the hour has a bit about Roger Ailes calling Sarah Palin stupid. Then they off-handedly mention that previous Republican candidates have "consulted" with Ailes. Why isn't that second part the big headline--that Roger Ailes is somehow the "pope" who crowns the Republican candidate "kings"?

You keep talking about the "right of return" as a Palestinian position that Jews should leave Palestine and return to their ancestral home land. The "right of return" is a provision of Israeli law that allows Jews to immigrate to Israel. The Palestinian position has been that families of non-Jewish Palestinians who were forced to emigrate since 1948 be allowed to immigrate.

Please <em>stop conflating this term</em> with a position that Jews must leave Palestine. While some Palestinians still advocate that position as well, that is not the same as Palestinian "right of return."

The Israeli state has opposed Palestinian "right of return" because it puts a lie to their "democracy." It would ensure that non-Jewish Palestinians are the true majority.

    Max Keiser

On May 22, 2011 I had a chance to watch a video with Max Keiser interviewing Dr. Paul Craig Roberts. Dr. Roberts served in the Reagan administration. He is a Republican with objectivity in his answers similarly to Bruce Fein. I enjoy reading articles from people who seem flexible and they do not function as political ideologue. Max and Dr. Roberts were talking about our global financial crisis. The poor and the working class Americans are facing financial terrorism from American Transnational Corporations and the American rich who make up the one to three percent of Americans who control at least eighty percent of the wealth and they want more wealth that leaves less wealth for the other ninety-seven to ninety-nine percent of Americans. This financial terrorism has been orchestrated from Reagan’s presidency to the present and there is no let up. This accumulation of wealth goes on with each passing minute.

We do not have a democracy and there seems to me more democracy in China. American pension are being confiscated every day by financial terrorist groups, such as companies, corporations, employers, banksters, the crooks, robbers, and thieves on Wall Street. These are some of the terrorist groups. Economic recovery is not happening in the United States of Mortal Sin. Foreign countries are scrambling to get out of the American dollar. Leaving the reliance on the American dollar will weaken our evil, vile, and wicked country even further than the present uncertainty and weakness that face poor and working class Americans. The off shoring of American jobs is also hurting the American economy. Americans have now in their possession funny money. Funny money drives up the cost of food, oil, and energy. Unemployment will be with Americans for many years with no light at the end of the tunnel. Unemployment will also rise for many, many years with no light at the end of the tunnel. These uncertain times will also cause drastic domestic inflation for years with no light at the end of the tunnel. CAPITALISM IS AN EVIL AND YOU CANNOT REGULATE EVIL. WE ARE NOT A DEMOCRACY AND WE WILL NEVER BE A DEMOCRACY!!! America and Americans have very serious economic problems. The American elites and American corporations want Americans to earn four to five thousand dollars so we could compete with China on a global scale. These low salaries would place Americans in graveyards because the cost and prices for goods and services will not go down. Dr. Roberts believes that these low salaries will be difficult to implement. I believe that it does not matter to the elites and to corporations. They are Satan’s disciples who are controlling and running our country. The elites and the corporations are ignorant. I will share with you my definition of ignorance and stupidity. People may have other definitions and thoughts on ignorance and stupidity.

Let me take the time to share with you how I differentiate between ignorance and stupidity. Stupidity is in a person who does not have the mental ability and intelligence to think and learn. Ignorance rests in a person who has the mental ability and intelligence to think and learn but he or she is set in their ways and will not change regardless of the evidence presented to them on various issues.

Why Liberal Sellouts Attack Cornel West - Chris Hedges

    http://www.truthdig.com/report/print/why_prophets_like_cornel_west_make_liberal_sell-outs_attack_20110523/

Below are two excerpts from this damning article.

"Barack Obama and the Democratic Party, prefers comfort and privilege to justice, truth and confrontation. Its guiding ideological stance is determined by what is most expedient to the careers of its members. It refuses to challenge, in a meaningful way, the decaying structures of democracy or the ascendancy of the corporate state. It glosses over the relentless assault on working men and women and the imperial wars that are bankrupting the nation. It proclaims its adherence to traditional liberal values while defending and promoting systems of power that mock these values. The pillars of the liberal establishment—the press, the church, culture, the university, labor and the Democratic Party—all honor an unwritten quid pro quo with corporations and the power elite, as well as our masters of war, on whom they depend for money, access and positions of influence. Those who expose this moral cowardice and collaboration with corporate power are always ruthlessly thrust aside."
"Prophets put forward during their day ideas that the mass of people, including the elite, denounce as impractical and yet at the same time sense to be true. This is what invokes the rage against the prophet. He or she states the obvious in a society where the obvious is seditious. Prophecy is feared because of the consequences of the truth. To accept that Obama is, as West said, a mascot for Wall Street means having to challenge some frightening monoliths of power and give up the comfortable illusion that the Democratic Party or liberal institutions can be instruments for genuine reform. It means having to step outside the mainstream. It means a new radicalism. It means recognizing that there is no hope for a correction or a reversal within the formal systems of power. It means defying traditional systems of power. And liberals, who have become courtiers to the corporate state, must attempt to silence all those who condemn the ruthlessness and mendacity of these systems of destruction. Their denunciation of all who rebel is a matter of self-preservation. For once the callous heart of the corporate state is exposed, so is the callous heart of the liberal class."

  • So here we are in the midst of perpetual war...   14 years 9 weeks ago

Between September 2000 and June 2001 (9 months), the FAA sent fighters to intercept errant aircraft 57 times, interceptions are "routine" and usually all responded to within 10 minutes of notification of losing radio transmission or flying off course.
On Sept 11, 2001 we were told 4 airliners were off course and out of communications. And yet we are told, not one could be intercepted. The three fighters stationed at Andrews AFB, that protects Washington, DC were all sent away for the day and other fighters on the east coast were all sent out of the country. More than an hour after the first notifications of errant airliners the 3 Andrews AFB fighters were ordered to turn around, but when they did, they went out to sea and ended up further away from DC than before. When the fighters finally arrived in the area of NY and DC, and perhaps, Pennsylvania....the airliners had already crashed...but it is possible that Flight 93, the last one to "crash" may have been shot down. But a number of things, referring to Flight 93 is glaringly curious...in keeping with all the other curious firsts about the other crashes..never has an airliner crashed leaving behind so little evidence...except in the ones that hit the WTC and the Pentagon. The worst crashes that there ever was in history, unless maybe crashing into the ocean, has always left lots of evidence of the crash (many large chunks and thousands of smaller pieces). The original local spectators all claim that there wasn't much to look at and it didn't look like a plane crashed there. Also, small pieces were found as far as 6 miles away...which might also be evidence that it was shot down (exploded in the air) and what was left fell in Shanksville. The excuse the government had was that the plane (conveniently) crashed a bulls-eye into an old mine. Even still it would be possible to excavate more "evidence"..if they really tried hard enough...but then anything that turns up could be plants like at the Pentagon. And we are supposed to believe the FBI photos of the couple of fuselage chunks (did the first locals see these chunks?) and the curious, almost unscathed, items like 3 passports (including one, conveniently...and highly suspect, of one of the alleged highjackers from KSA).

It is understandable that there would not be much left of the planes that crashed into the two WTC buildings but what about the one that hit the Pentagon? Since the photos of original entry hole in the side of the Pentagon was just a hole, perhaps the size of a fuselage, and did not show any other wall or windows on both sides of that hole having been damaged by where engines and wings and tail would hit, it is pretty hard to believe a 757 hit the pentagon. Titanium engines don't just vaporize...neither would the aluminum other parts...even though they have a lower melting point. There should have been lots of chunks or pieces at the Pentagon...but there were only the few pieces that were planted there...and they didn't even get that right..the one engine not even being from a 757.

Don't you find it rather curious how OBL was able to coordinate and time this whole "attack" to coincide with a "war game" exercise. Isn't it more believable that this whole thing was masterminded, setup, and carried out by those in power in the US...those who had the authority to direct the circumstances to be just right to feign an attack and be able to ensure that, by directing operations such that they were able to not only throw wrenches in the cogs of traditional protections, but even engineered it to be "wide open" for an attack".

As in the Pearl Harbor attack...the President made sure that his best ships were not in harbor but sent far away from the action. That the President had replaced the Admiral and General at Pearl Harbor because they were being too cautious and inquistitive and too concerned with the protection of Pearl Harbor. Our intelligence agency was monitoring a Japanese spy at Pearl Harbor a week before the attack and monitored his communications to Japan indicating the conditions (number of ships, etc) ripe for an attack. We had broken all their codes and even triangulated their movement across the Pacific to Pearl Harbor through the few times, because of a storm causing some of the fleet to veer apart, they had to break radio silence.

In the modern day Pearl Harbor, on 9/11/2001, similar things happened. Rumsfeld took away the normal responsibility of the lower in command being able to respond to any and all of the normal routine jet fighter responses to reports of errant airliners or small aircraft and bestowed that privilege upon himself...how convenient!

The war games exercises were done to create enough confusion and doubt so that they could later say it all happened because of confusion and doubt and ineptitude rather than a treasonous planned out coup. The war games theme was all about pretty much what happened...a series of attacks by planes crashing into buildings...even into the Pentagon and the WTC towers and the White House. The poster child of this "fake attack" war games was OBL. And remember Bush and Condoleeza Rice repeatedly saying "No one could have imagined that terrorists would hijack and crash airliners into buildings" and Bush....hesitating but then quickly added...."to this degree or scale". Bush makes such an obvious and terrible liar. Everyone in the Bush administration were telling pretty much nothing but lies to the American people. Then they lied us into the illegal war.

There are way, way too many glaring inconsistencies with the official conspiracy theory. And the proven consistent lying alone has to disprove the official government conspiracy.

Of course, the flight 93 propaganda turned into several books and a movie, would have us believe that at least someone fought back and this, of course, generates "heroes". We all know how "heroes" have been "created" for propaganda value.

  • So here we are in the midst of perpetual war...   14 years 9 weeks ago

Even a 20 mile run yesterday didn't ease my frustation concerning the specter of perpetual war. As a population without true representational democracy, where big money controls and games all of our political policies, the military industrial complex is in the driver's seat, heading us all straight to hell. "We know now that government by organized money is just as dangerous as government by organized mob" FDR 1936! Why do we never learn?

On Thom's radio show Friday, Senator Sanders mentioned, it's imperative that facts and information regarding the current political realities get communicated to the general population. With the republican mass media in full control, and a major partner of the military industrial complex, the task of spreading the truth will fall upon all of us commoners, as well as shows like Thom's.

I'm afraid it's going to be one heck of a massive societal intervention, deprogramming a population whip-silly from Fox network!
