The Fifth and the Seventh Commandments

These are two commandments that Americans and corporations willfully commit mortal sins that damn their souls. They are the signature commandments of the United States of Hell and her people. Let us take a look at each commandment and the breakdown that leads Americans and corporations to commit mortal sins.

The Fifth Commandment – Thou Shall Not Kill

Killing of a human being, murder, abortion, willfully trying to hurt another human being, wishing harm to another person or persons, driving dangerously and recklessly, driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, willfully harboring hatred for another person or persons, self-mutilation, promotion and involvement in euthanasia, and bigotry are some examples!

The Seventh Commandment – Thou Shall Not Steal

Willfully destroying or defacing another’s property (such as in wrong and immoral wars), defrauding workers of their wages (such as slave wages and outsourcing of jobs), taking advantage of the poor, simple, inexperienced, less fortunate and the middle class, denying help to the poor, needy, destitute, and the middle class, fraud (such as our politicians who take money or accepting of a bribe), price fixing (such as our oil companies and their involvement in this practice), tax evasion (such as the rich and corporations who have offshore tax havens), excessive waste (such as oil spillage, Massey mining, entering wrong and immoral wars), and slavery are some examples!

As you can read, the United States of Hell routinely commits mortal sins that damn her soul. Mortal sins are the American way of life.

Slow down, prop 14 is NOT open primaries. It's a two round system.

Maybe it's still a bad idea and I just haven't heard people explain to me why, but I did vote yes for it. I would like to have a discussion about different types of voting systems and their pros and cons, but I want to make it clear that prop 14 does NOT change the california system to open primaries. If anything, the way I would describe it is that it gets rid of the primaries all together.

What I'm hoping will happen is that instead of having to vote for either (for all practical purposes) a corporate democrat or a corporate republican, we'll end up having to vote, in the second round, for either a corporate democrat, or a progressive democrat (maybe even a green!). That's what I'm envisioning. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's a possibility that I hope happens.

Sadly, many folks are more interested in who is eliminated from Dancing With Stars than much of anything else. Only until something impacts them directly do they seem to react but on a limited basis. Many folks think they're too dumb to understand the political process and even more wonder why they voted for change and got a new boss who is similiar to the last boss. They feel like they don't matter and walk around half dazed wondering how all this happened. Then they go home and hope tomorrow is better than today.

Then the BP oil rupture happened and these same folks have taken notice. The beautiful gulf with it's rich history and cluture ruined and why ? Because they were not made to follow rules and regulations because they're " too big and important.." .

Too big and important. That, along with Tony Hayward's " I want my life back " has not set very well with the vast majority of normally non political Americans. Now there's talk that poor BP might have to file bankrupcy. This is just adding to the fury and resentment levels, considering how many Americans living and working along the coast will now lose their homes and cannot include their homes in bankrupcy protection, thanks to George W Bush's " bankrupcy reform act " Nothing like having your nose rubbed in "it".

Thom we can't give in on this. They stole the election. They've got all the money, all we've got is our votes and they're taking that too. We are nothing but slaves if we let this go. We cannot allow them to send us back to our seats like children that should be seen and not heard. They are treating us like children and taking our voice, stealing our country, and making us poor and their peasantry. This cannot go unsung if nothing else. We must make this an issue. The numbers are absolutely obvious that the election was stolen, controlled, and manipulated by a flase lying group of AR people controlling the state illegally. Lincoln is seventh generation cotton. That makes her family slave owners and she's still riding the wave of Cotton Royalty made wealthy by slavery.

On Mother's day, knowing that my only child is now in university in Australia, a friend brought her teenage son and new puppy over to help me with my garden. Best mother's day in years! No pigeons were involved.

Saying that atheism is a religion is a semantic argument. Your guest was getting there. What implications do you feel you are making by saying that atheism is a religion? It seems like you are falling into a common human pitfall: the compulsion to label, categorize, and file everything away in your brain. Or, are you just so insecure about your own spirituality?

You cannot say that atheism is a religion because it is a belief system. Atheism is a lack of belief, 'a' being the prefix meaning a 'lack of'. Atheism is literately defined as a lack of theism. I don't require conviction to say there is no flying spaghetti monster. Atheists made up the flying spaghetti monster to illustrate that you can't prove that god is not a flying spaghetti monster, that the burden of proof is on the person who says that there is a god and god is this or that. The burden of proof is on the person who says the world works according to mysterious, invisible forces. It isn't an article of faith to say that muslims don't get 70 virgins when they die. The article of faith belongs to the muslim. I simply don't believe it.

Call us what you want, Thom, but if you call atheism a religion, you can call liberalism a religion. Conservatism is a religion. Any ism can be defined as a religion, but it's a semantic argument. What are you accomplishing by making the argument? While you are delegitimizing atheism by calling it a religion and having this pointless semantic debate, my gay Christian friend is cutting off his own testicles and bleeding himself out on the bathroom floor. Big man, Thom Hartmann, picking on the weakest and smallest minority on planet Earth. Atheists represent a singular voice of reason in a world of religious insanity. Religion does clear and demonstrable harm to societies and individuals within societies. Atheists are trying to elicit religious moderation, questioning, and reason, to disempower religious fanaticism and find secular paths to personal enrichment and social responsibility. Do you think that is an objective worth pursuing, Thom? So, what does the label matter?

While the USSR - Union of Soviet Socialist Republic --- didn't actually have COMMUNIST in their name, the Republicans like to clai that the Socialist ideas by Democratic Party members is leaning to Communism! However, the Texas History book fiasco has the Republicans wanting to remove 'democratic' from the 'democratic republic' definition of the USA! So, I guess the Republicans have their own agenda for COMMUNISM!!!

I don't know if anyone has said this (at work, no time to read) but Thom is wrong about atheism being a religion. But it's similar in this way:

On a form, where you might fill in haircolor, you might put "bald." Bald is NOT a haircolor, but that's where you'd put it on a form. In the same way, "religion" is where you would write in "atheist" or "agnostic" if you were putting it on a form. Neither is a religion, but that's the category it falls into.

So, "Atheism is a religion" = "Bald is a haircolor" as far as these things go. Not accurate, but kinda sorta fits?
