    Barack Obama in Afghanistan:

We can't forget why we're here. We did not choose this war. This was not an act of America wanting to expand its influence; of us wanting to meddle in somebody else's business. We were attacked viciously on 9/11. Thousands of our fellow countrymen and women were killed. And this is the region where the perpetrators of that crime, al Qaeda, still base their leadership. Plots against our homeland, plots against our allies, plots against the Afghan and Pakistani people are taking place as we speak right here. And if this region slides backwards, if the Taliban retakes this country and al Qaeda can operate with impunity, then more American lives will be at stake. The Afghan people will lose their chance at progress and prosperity. And the world will be significantly less secure.

We didn't create the proxy war against the Soviets, we weren't meddling in foreign affairs that later came home...(if you buy the story)

    Please.

Representative Eric Cantor was threatened today and the guy issuing the threat was arrested. The threatening rant was fueled by anti-Semitism and not by political dialogue.

REPEAT: As far as been released, the threat used purely anti-Semitic languaging and nothing directed towards political positions.

He is NOT a liberal . . . but a good old fashioned “Hebrew Hater”.

    @brian a. hayes,

How has Obama changed that? He reappointed Ben (Capt. Hazeltine) Bernanke, put the former head of the NY Fed into the Treasury, pushed through a health care bill designed to ensure the health of insurance corporations, caters to the idea of bipartisanship over any identification with the supposed "platform" of the democratic party.

look at the 8 years of bush administration he ran our govrnment like it was a corporation, and ran it into the ground. he put corporate people in charge of all departments of governments what a disaster. our government was created to work for all people poor and rich. its been a history where working people have fought to see that our government worked for all people. what is the basic needs of the people. a good job with good pay health insurance, good schools and to protect the commons.what has been the job of corporation to maximize profits for the corporations and its shareholders.

@harry ashburn, knowing Armey's background, as many other politicians' background, will help to know what motivates certain people.

If I am going to follow some person, I want to follow a person who will help me to be a better person. Jesus Christ, the most famous liberal in history, is a person I will follow.

Welcoming a CIA Official at Fordham
    by Debra Sweet
    http://www.commondreams.org/view/2010/03/29-7

I'm not sure what was worse; sitting in an auditorium for a speech by the head of CIA clandestine operations, or having most of the audience give a standing ovation afterward. There were some low points in between, too.

I don't know how many of you check out the articles I provide links to, sometimes I feel like I'm shouting into the wind, but please look at this....

    Harry,

    Re: commercial breaks

The breaks at the top and bottom of the hour will almost always be longer. This is to allow local broadcasters to air local news updates, weather and traffic.

The sad fact that the TP'ers seem to be missing is while they are being fed fear of socialism that will take their hard-earned property, the leaders of their movement would prefer to off-shore the manufacturing base that supports their livelyhood.

I had a co-worker once who insisted he wanted to get the government out of food inspection. He said he could do his own meat inspecting and so forth.

I think we should offer him the chance. Living without the incidents of civilization will keep the pledgers busy 24/7, at least until disease carries them off.

    Thom,

These idiot may claim to be willing to "sign a pledge", but include links to government sites where they can put their name on a list to cancel their social security or block 911 service from their phone, and let's see how many sign up.

    Thom,

My brother-in-law is an Air Traffic Controller. The reason they don't work for the individual airlines is because they would show favoritism to their own airline's planes and snarl traffic across the country.

The airports themselves don't employ the controllers because we can't afford to have airports "cutting corners on safety" to save a buck.

If private corporations ran ATC, just imagine the consequences.
