Thom,
I'm surprised that you refer to this country as "America." You're too good to be that arrogant. America is an awfully large continent that includes plenty of people NOT citizens of the United States. "America," as you know, is not a country.

[At a recent White House briefing Helen Thomas asked] why Abdulmutallab did what he did.
Thomas: “And what is the motivation? We never hear what you find out on why.”
Brennan: “Al Qaeda is an organization that is dedicated to murder and wanton slaughter of innocents… They attract individuals like Mr. Abdulmutallab and use them for these types of attacks. When my wife and I first heard about the sea lions disappearing from Morro Bay we were in Washington State on our way back to Seattle, and the first thing that came to mind was that we needed to stay out of California. As the Sea Lions were trying to tell us something. Then on Sunday there was a magnitude 6.5 Earthquake in Humboldt County.
Why are the scientist's running around with all this money spent on vast amounts of equipment to detect things when all you have to do is pay attention to nature and its natives. It kinda reminded me of when the Dolphins left the Earth in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy... So Long and Thanks For All the Fish...

Moving our money is a good idea but the big financial institutions will find ways to circumvent the process.
Thank you Tom for calling our economic crisis a Great Depression!!! I have felt for sometime that we are in a Great Depression started again by the Republicans. This depression will linger for three or four generations because our better paying jobs are outsourced. Our thoughts will led astray by chaos and fear tactics at home and endless wars away from home. We will have to live with endless BOHICA days. Keep practicing your bending over exercises!!!
I read this on the Economic Times website....and I interpreted it (after someone else brought it to my attention lol) to read that these 500 jobs while being outsourced from Walgreen to Genpact ...will still be in the US... in Danville Indiana Genpact offices. There could of course be other repercussions as there is, according to the original press release from Genpact found on their website, the prospect of this "impacting" 300 other employees. They didn't say how it would impact them.
Thom, from your description on the air I was expecting ripped ears, one goopy eye, bald patches from frays afar and near and all the signs of a sociopathic feline devil! Awwww, shucks, in this photo he looks, well, almost peaceful and angelic --- if it weren't for that slight gleam in his eye :-).

May it be one that sees the middle-class and working people of our country finally shed enough layers of the calcification that has been studiously and carfeully applied over their eyes for the last 30 years by the media, the dumbing down of education and the punditry of both political parties. Join me in prayer that we can see that our country's best interests are NOT in sync with the best interests of Wall Street (and from the looks of it, with the White House's either) before the final tipping point of this rush toward a more destructive and insidious neo-fascism has been reached.
We should all review our purchases for where it was made, who made it, NOT how much it costs.
If any entity you do business with exports jobs, stop doing business with them.
If any entity you do business with is killing our planet, stop doing business with them.
Some examples are: Move any money you have from places like Bank of America to local banks and credit unions. Credit Unions are member owned and have much better fee structures and interest rates! If you have charge cards, like from BOA, pay them off every month with the money you earn at the credit union and during the 25-31 day period between the end of statement and payment due date you can collect interest while using BOA's money.
If you buy and eat conventional food, even though it is cheaper, you are contributing to huge carbon footprints, supporting the torture of animals and Monsanto, who genetically engineers food. You also ingest drugs, poisons and other toxic matter.
Thom, with regards to outsourcing and illegal employers. I think it's time to reignite the "Buy American" campaign, we should also start the "Hire American" campaign as well. Do remember "Look for the Union label, when you are buying a coat, dress, or blouse...." tv spots?!

msstaferlee, I was thinking the very same thing because this is just too coincidentally close to our escalation in Afghanistan.
regarding Bernie Sanders and health care tax unions. don't worry that will never go through. It will be dropped and then everybody will be so....... happy about them not having to pay taxes on their great plans that they will not object to all of the people who can not afford health care being forced to buy horrible insurance. And we also need to be so grateful to Bernie because if we are lucky enough to have area free clinics we can go there and beg for services or if we are poor enough we can go as second rate citizens and beg for the very same thing he is provided and accepts with dignity while we go in shame for hand outs. the disconnect from the haves and have nots in this country are so profound.
I think we should all send an email to Walgreens and let them know that we will no longer be shopping at any of their establishments.
regarding the whistle blower being jailed (UBS). where is the president? why isn't he expressing his outrage on this issue (we all know the answer to that) and Thom if you are going to have an expert on this subject, please ask them who the senators were that were in the hearings on this issue. The ones who were there when the court reporter took the notes on all the information the whistle blower gave them. Where are their voices against this injustice? Getting the answers to that and who the senators and elected officials who were on that list, would be very valuable to the people of this country. We will never find out and if that whistle blower does not end up dead, I will be surprised.
@Gerald, thanks, but I was wondering more about the physical location of the plane... as in over land or over the sea. Because if it was over the sea, I can't see how it would've been advantageous for a successful use of a bomb, being that it would take weeks - months to determine why the plane crashed. Whereas, a highly publicized failure produces.... well we are seeing how that plays out.

I just went online and found this contact for Walgreens 1 800 925 4733, then customer service. I spoke to an agent and she did not know about the press release. I was told they also have sent their t-shirt factories to India. We need to let Walgreens know we support companies that support America. Also we belong to Wings Financial Credit Union. They financed our first home and all of our cars.
I've been a Credit Union member for over 20 years... they do some frustrating things as far as hidden fees too, since they're allowed to by law. However, they are nowhere near practicing underhand tactics like the big banks.
As far as root and roof, people should realize that there are different regional dialects and should not expect everybody to pronounce all words exactly as they do.

Every single time I buy ANYTHING, I look for where it is made, and if it is made in the states, I buy that...even if it is a little more expensive.
How many people will look at the origin of their products, before purchasing them?
We need to demand answers from Cheney. He should be stripped naked and thrown in a cell and starved until he tells us everything...
...but who has the stomach for that?
