We Must Stop Republicans from Helping Trump "Poison the Wells" and "Salt the Fields" of America.

Thom plus logo Donald Trump's treason extends far beyond his efforts to damage Americans belief in our form of government, our elected democratic republic, that Trump's oligarch buddies in Saudi Arabia, Russia and China also regularly disparage.

Trump's also actively damaging the ability of the incoming Biden administration to aid Americans during the Trump Depression, and to get the virus in check. In this, he has help from Steve Mnuchin and Mitch McConnell.

While McConnell is refusing to even allow a conversation in the Senate about the HEROES Act that already passed the House and would put money in unemployed Americans' pockets, Mnuchin wants the Fed to return the CARES Act money that they're leveraging to sustain the stock market.

As Senator Ron Wyden said, "As the economy backslides amid skyrocketing Covid-19 cases, Secretary Mnuchin is engaged in economic sabotage, and trying to tie the Biden administration's hands."

This will mean that any effort to revive the economy once Biden takes office will have to pass through Mitch McConnell, and he'll extract more money and deregulation for his billionaire buddies as the price of even modest help for average Americans. But it gets worse.

Trump is also shutting down the "Open Skies" program where American spy planes help Europe keep track of Russian troop and weapons movements, and is ordering the spy planes destroyed before he leaves office so it will take years to rebuild America's European intelligence capabilities.

Trump is installing his anti-American toadies in Civil Service positions across multiple agencies that regulate polluting industries and protect Americans from unscrupulous bankers, so civil-service protections will make it almost impossible for Biden to fire them.

He's already devastated the science capabilities of the Environmental Protection Agency, getting rid of about half their scientists, and done everything he can to destroy the reputations of the CDC and the FDA. He's trashed American's trust in the FBI and Justice Department.

When the Ottoman Empire was overwhelming the Balkans, Vlad the Impaler poisoned the wells of his community to deny them the spoils of war. When Emperor Frederick Barbarosa conquered Italy in 1155, he put human corpses in rebel community wells to render the areas unlivable for a generation.

Trump is doing something similar right now by sabotaging the Fed, our courts, and America's working people. And he has enthusiastic domestic helpers, including McConnell, Mnuchin, and Miller, along with international promoters of neofascism and oligarchy around the world.

There's also growing speculation, leaks, and alarm that the White House is destroying records of Trump's other crimes and efforts to kneecap America. Meanwhile, he's set us up for a competent Republican authoritarian to finally destroy this country if that Party can win the presidency in 2024.

Donald Trump has brought America to her knees. He let a quarter million Americans die, shredded our intelligence and national security apparatus, devastated our protections against predatory billionaires and corporations, and smeared the reputation of democracy itself.

Every American who believes in the ideals and hopes at the core of the American experiment must repudiate and fight any effort by this corrupted Republican Oligarchy to continue its complicity in Trump's treason.

Can you imagine the daily, out-of-breath fire and brimstone coming from enraged Republicans if Trump was the Democrat's guy? No, you can't; because first, you would have to succumb to a willing suspension of disbelief and then imagine that Democrats would have selected the most unqualified, self-dealing, vindictive asshole as their Great White Hope out of a large primary field of other such contenders.

That's just not a Democratic thing. No, a racist base chock-full of blithering idiots, who simply cannot comprehend America's core ideals and constitutional principles, is owned lock, stock, and barrel by the Republican Party. And the rest of the world knows full well that basic fact of American politics -- especially our enemies.

Isn't there a psychology aspect to this at all? Or can anyone do anything these days, no matter what shape they are in?

For example: We have police problems.

We have covid problems.

We have racial problems.

We have environmental problems

Ad infinitum..

Meanwhile the right wing media, They are graduating from Fox and going to higher levels of deceit and lies (Newsmax, Breibart, Sinclair, OANN etc.) Does not report on any of what Trump is doing. Todays headlines are that the Supreme Court issued an injunction against NY Governor Coumo's restrictions on the size of religious gatherings. Pray the Covid away, that should work. Covid loves stupid crowds that gives it legs.

And then, Western Colorado's new pistol packing Congresswoman Lauren Boebert. A Cafe owner, where the waitresses wear guns (do not complain about the service) and has the high qualifications of passing her High School equivalent GED test Summa Cum Laude. Also a follower of Qanon. Is having a funeral for a turkey to get around gathering size laws in Colorado. I really wish that they could report on the percentage of Republicans that get Covid. The White House is a cesspool of Covid.

President Biden needs to point out these road blocks to all the "what could be if onlys". Relentlessly pound away at it every day, same as Trump did to him. Not the most polite thing to do, but apparently, it takes a bit of rudeness to effectively sway peoples perception of what's really going on.

Trump is laying the foundation for firing civil service workers before he leaves.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-order-could-spark-mass-215618309.html

Democratic Presidents always have to clean up after the Republicans leave. Carter had the Ford, Nixon mess. Clinton had the Reagan, Bush Sr. mess. Obama had the Bush Jr. mess. Now the Mother of all messes.

Thom talked on Wednesday about waht Kamala Harris can do as President of the Senate so I decided to look it up. They are going to have to change it as it says:

"He presides over the Senate only on ceremonial occasions or when a tie-breaking vote may be needed."

https://www.senate.gov/general/Features/Part_1_VP.htm#:~:text=He%20presi....

But you dig a little deeper and it says"

"Under the Constitution, the vice president serves as the president of the Senate and presides over the Senate's daily proceedings."

Presides over the Senate's Daily proceedings is a stong term. Go Kamala!

It does seem so. If true, it just further confirms what most of the world has already determined long ago is a key factor in our apparently unsolvable political dilemma, that right-wing ideologues inspiring the Republican base and their leaders cannot truthfully argue issues on the merits without coming across as willing ignoramuses, flaming racists, and complete fools. Consequently, an army of trolls has swamped the internet, resorting to what they do best: employing underhanded tactics that seek to shut down honest debate wherever they may find it.

Who knows for sure what's possible these days on the internet, mixed with a dash of darknet. Maybe American trolls work with Russian trolls to clog certain sites with endless spam. I wonder if this is normal on other social media sites.

The right wingers seem to have quit posting but the Russian, Viagra and contact the Administrator are increasing.

We do not have a lot of elections to base our opinion on Trump (as if I needed any). But this is how he reacted after he lost Iowa to Canadian born Rafael Ted Cruz. Also he will go down in history as losing the popular vote twice.

There use to be tests on the web that a person could take to determine if they should be Republican or Democratic. Simple questions and your answers gave a score. By far most that would take it would be Democratic leaning. They need to be revived in a big way. They still have them but nobody has heard of them. We have way to many people that should be Democrats that are voting Republican. The Right Wing Mainstream Media and far right Media has a lot to do with that.

If it was the least secure election in history, why was it on Trumps watch? And as much as Trump lies about the election he still has Republican support. Republicans are destroying this country.

Sue, This is the website and it has a "Contact" option in the upper right hand corner. I have no pull, but thought that the movie was excellent. I watched it after hearing an interview with Tim Kendall (one of the stars) on the latest Al Franken Podcast. The website has a lot of info and a trailer. The cast credentials is listed and all are very knowledgeable to the Social Media Industry.

Legend, you don't need any special pull to make a good suggestion.

My role is to do as much for the show as possible while taking up as little of the team's time as possible, so I have a lot less contact with them than you'd think.

If I started passing on lots of peoples' links and ideas to them, that would diminish my usefulness, as those ideas and links should not get the priority that I do have, which is saved for more urgent matters.

The producer's email is thproducer@gmail.com

Please follow us across to hartmannreport.com - this will be the only place going forward to read Thom's blog posts and articles.

From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"Right through the worst of the Bush years and into the present, Thom Hartmann has been one of the very few voices constantly willing to tell the truth. Rank him up there with Jon Stewart, Bill Moyers, and Paul Krugman for having the sheer persistent courage of his convictions."
Bill McKibben, author of Eaarth
From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"With the ever-growing influence of corporate CEOs and their right-wing allies in all aspects of American life, Hartmann’s work is more relevant than ever. Throughout his career, Hartmann has spoken compellingly about the value of people-centered democracy and the challenges that millions of ordinary Americans face today as a result of a dogma dedicated to putting profit above all else. This collection is a rousing call for Americans to work together and put people first again."
Richard Trumka, President, AFL-CIO
From The Thom Hartmann Reader:
"Through compelling personal stories, Hartmann presents a dramatic and deeply disturbing picture of humans as a profoundly troubled species. Hope lies in his inspiring vision of our enormous unrealized potential and his description of the path to its realization."
David Korten, author of Agenda for a New Economy, The Great Turning, and When Corporations Rule the World
