Trump Lies...Media Looks the Other Way

Bob Ney, Journalist/former Congressman/Sideswiped: Lessons Learned Courtesy of the Hit Men of Capitol Hill, joins Thom. Presumptive Republican Nominee Donald Trump gave a blistering 40 minute speech yesterday attacking former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for everything from destroying America's middle class to creating ISIL. The one problem with what he said in his speech? It was mostly half-truths - lies - and outright distortions of reality. And the truth is - that Trump hopes and trusts that no one will bother to fact-check or call him on his bald-faced lies.

The Corporate Media Spin On Orlando

Sarah Lazare, Alternet, joins Thom. There has been a massive outcry for gun control in the aftermath of Orlando- and at least five gun control bills have been brought forward in Congress. But there's also been a massive push in support of retaliatory military escalation against ISIL and a massive crackdown on Muslim-American communities - based solely on the fact that the shooter - Omar Mateen - swore allegiance to the terrorist group during a 9-1-1 call during the attack. Donald Trump and other Republicans immediately condemned "Radical Islamic Terrorism" for the attack - despite the fact that FBI director James Comey and CIA Director James Brennan have both said that there is no evidence of ties between Mateen and ISIL Unfortunately - the mainstream media have let politicians and candidates call for military escalation without clarifying that Mateen's ties to ISIL are unverified.

Rumble - Why the GOP Healthcare Plan Is a Disaster

Bryan Pruitt, RedState & Holly Shulman, Democratic Strategist & Charles Sauer, The Market Institute joins Thom. House Republicans today excitedly unveiled their long-awaited replacement plan for Obamacare. The plan of course begins with repealing Obamacare - and then aims to make Medicare more profitable for banksters in the health insurance business while raising the retirement age to 67 - cap Medicaid payments so really sick people are totally screwed - and provide a tax credit so if you're going to get any money from the government for healthcare you can only do it once a year and have to fill out all sorts of paperwork. But even worse - the plan isn't even a plan. It’s a white paper - not an actual bill - which means that the plan can avoid the specifics necessary in a bill - and it avoids having to put forward any real budget numbers whatsoever. And the truth is - this plan is complicated even without the details - and it's basically a way to make more profits for private insurers while giving the health insurance banksters the right, once again, to figure out a million little ways to screw their customers. So isn't it time to go to a simple and affordable plan - like single payer Medicare-for-All?

What Living w/ Climate Change Feels Like

Josh Fox, How To Let Go Of The World & Love All the Things Climate Can’t Change/Gasland 1 & 2 joins Thom. For tonight's Green Report - we head to the American Southwest - which is now in the midst of a record-breaking heat wave. The effects of this heatwave have been brutal and widespread. As temperatures have soared into the triple digits - 4 hikers have died in the Arizona wilderness - and wildfires have engulfed parts of Southern California. Meanwhile - a flight headed to Phoenix from Houston actually had to turn around and fly home after searing 100 degree heat made it too dangerous to land. This is what living with climate change feels like - a constant barrage of terrifying news about severe weather and its effect on our society. What should we do in the face of this news? Curl into a ball and cry? Or face the challenge head on? The search for answers to these questions is the subject of a new documentary by Gasland Director Josh Fox. It's called - "How to Let Go of the World and Love All the Things Climate Can’t Change.” - and it premieres this Monday, June 27 on HBO.

Rumble - Trump Rebukes GOP Politics

Bryan Pruitt, RedState & Holly Shulman, Democratic Strategist & Charles Sauer, The Market Institute joins Thom. Donald Trump gave a lengthy speech today attacking Hillary Clinton's record as Secretary of State - and blaming Hillary Clinton for destroying America's middle class. But why is Trump blaming Hillary Clinton for policies championed by the GOP?

Rumble - Sotomayor Slams SCOTUS In Dissent

Sarah Westwood, Washington Examiner & Ashley Spillane, Vote.org & Hughey Newsome, BOLD.global/Move-On-Up joins Thom. At stake in this case was the question of whether evidence obtained through illegal stops can be used in court. On Monday - 5 members of the the Supreme Court said that it could be used - as long it was found after the police learned that the defendant in question was already target of an arrest warrant Justice Sotoymayor disagreed - arguing that her colleagues fundamentally misunderstood the case they were deciding. She accused them of treating illegal stops like isolated incidents of bad behavior - as opposed to a systemic feature of the American criminal justice system - a criminal justice system that is biased against people of color.

Rumble - Time To Repeal The Second Amendment

Sarah Westwood, Washington Examiner & Ashley Spillane, Vote.org & Hughey Newsome, BOLD.global/Move-On-Up joins Thom. At this point shouldn't we all admit that the only way to solve our gun violence problem is to repeal the Second Amendment?
