Great Minds P2 - Wenonah Hauter - The Movement Against Fracking

Wenonah Hauter, Food and Water Watch/Frackopoly: The Battle for the Future of Energy and the Environment joins Thom. President Obama has done more to fight global warming than any other president in history. So why does he still support fracking? Fracking supporters - like President Obama - say it's a bridge fuel to a clean energy future. But is that really the case? And is the natural gas boom actually just making it harder to us to make the transition to renewables?

Rumble: Climate Change: What’s the Punishment for Media Malpractice?

Gianno Caldwell, Caldwell Strategic Consulting & Max Blumenthal, Alternet/The 51 Day War-Ruin and Resistance in Gaza & Crystal Wright, Con Job/Conservative Black Chick/RT America all join Thom. Between the floods in Texas and the floods in Northern Europe - more than two dozen people have died or gone missing over the last week - including 9 soldiers in Fort Hood - and the corporate media is committing climate malpractice. If the corporate media were responsible - they would talk about how these storm events are driven by the fact that the planet has warmed 1 degree Celsius already over pre-industrial levels - and that means that there is about 5 - 10 percent more moisture in the atmosphere than there was in 1968 when Richard Nixon was sworn in. More moisture in the atmosphere means more energy in the atmosphere which means more energy and moisture for storms to feed on. So what should be the punishment for media conglomerates that refuse to tell the public about the scientific consensus about the connection between climate change and more frequent and more powerful storm events?

Rumble: Does All Trump Have Left - Is Racism?

Gianno Caldwell, Caldwell Strategic Consulting & Max Blumenthal, Alternet/The 51 Day War-Ruin and Resistance in Gaza & Crystal Wright, Con Job/Conservative Black Chick/RT America all join Thom. Isn't it time to admit that Donald Trump's racist rhetoric is what unites the Republican party?

Leaks have revealed that right-wingers were working behind the scenes to remove Rousseff from power as a way to take out the left and distract from their own corruption problems all in one fell swoop.

DNC Vetoes Sanders’ Platform Pick

Chuck Rocha, Solidarity Strategies joins Thom. Dnc not only nixes Bernie’s pick but also disses labor. Bernie Sanders says the DNC blocked his push to put a labor activist on the its platform drafting committee. Why would the supposed party of the people do this?

There Is No Such Thing As The Ferguson Effect

Sam Sacks, The District Sentinel, joins Thom. Despite what you might hear on Fox So-Called News - there is no such thing as the Ferguson Effect. The idea that protests against police violence in Ferguson, Missouri and around the country have inspired a new wave of attacks against law enforcement is just flat-out false. In fact - 2015 was the safest year on record for American cops - as 41 were killed on the job - a 20 percent drop from the year before. So take that - Bill O'Reilly! But anyways - even though the Ferguson Effect is pure right-wing fantasy - violence against other groups of public servant .

Is the Green Revolution Finally Here?

Alex Doukas, Oil Change International, joins Thom. Even as the price of fossil fuels has plummeted over the past few years - growth in renewables has remained steady.

There's a report in Politico about how MSNBC is now trying to move away from its liberal "lean forward" image. Why do you think this is? Rumble - Trump Says It’s Moral To Cut Social Security

Hughey Newsome, Bold.global/Move-On-Up & Alex Lawson, Social Security Works & Scott Greer, The Daily Caller all join Thom. According a new report out this weekend in Bloomberg - he told Paul Ryan at their recent DC powwow that he supports social security cuts in theory - but opposes them out of political expediency, “From a moral standpoint, I believe in it,” Trump said, “But you also have to get elected. And there’s no way a Republican is going to beat a Democrat when the Republican is saying, ‘We’re going to cut your Social Security’ and the Democrat is saying, ‘We’re going to keep it and give you more.’ ” Coincidentally - earlier today President Barack Obama suggested during a speech in Elkhart Indiana that we need to expand social security by "asking the wealthiest Americans to contribute a little bit more."

Rumble - Why Are Pro-Life GOP Denying Funding for Zika?

Hughey Newsome, Bold.global/Move-On-Up & Alex Lawson, Social Security Works & Scott Greer, The Daily Caller all join Thom. There are more than 300 pregnant women with the virus in the United States and its territories already - and that number is only going to grow over time if we don't address this aggressively as the public health crisis that it is. Are these so-called "pro-Life" Republicans really making the case that there's no funding crisis for Zika - even as medical professionals and governors across the country from both parties are calling for more funding?
