I notice every time Thom returns the courtesy of bashing Republican positions, he seems to fail (and does little) to criticize the Democratic Party.
No, we're not looking for "Jesus Christ" in Hillary nor in President Obama nor as a matter, in any other political figurehead, but it certainly doesn't advance the conversation and understanding if you're constantly whining about the other's party's lack of a moral center. Yes, the Democratic Party as a whole, has the better voting record over Republicans when it comes to women's rights, civil rights, the environment, and class issues, but... that was then (1990s) and this is now.... and if you're honest with yourself, you would have to admit that the Democratic Party uses those social wedge issues (as do the R's), to hide and distract from the real problems ordinary citizens face in an every growing global economy.
It would be Hillary's corporate supporters that will read between the lines in her stump speeches, media appearances, and maybe even the scenario of her trying to put her hand on the bible while taking the presidential oath in 2017, knowing and taking comfort that their bottom line won’t be adversely impacted (Walmart, Wall Street, Walmart, Wall Street, Walmart):

Hillary won’t address many of the concerns Senator Elizabeth Warren has been voicing, until Hillary nearly clinches the Democratic nomination because by then, it will be too late, and as far as the political operatives behind and on behalf of Hillary would calculate, Hillary won’t feel truly obligated to take on Wall Street, the One Percenters, TBTF, and anything else the majority of the public have expressed but will be (and has been) voted to the contrary by Congress and through Executive orders.
No wonder the opinion of Congress continues to be low, but also, I would agree, dislike of Congress is not an excuse not to vote or get politically involved, just because the pols are captured by America, Incorporated; that they went to Harvard and you barely graduated from Tumbleweed Technical School. Why is it, that politicians expect its citizenry to serve on jury duty, serve in the military, pay their fair share of taxes, etc. but yet.... politicians end up returning the voter’s favor by doing the true bidding, instead, for the One Percenters (Iraq war, NAFTA, Transpacific Partnership, XL Pipeline, Citizens United, support for Israel right or wrong 'cause two historical wrongs make for a third historical right, don’t you know….)
What Issue Cannot Be Solved With Money should be both parties’ motto. Both major parties believe in money. So yes, not too many (Economic) differences between the two major parties after the dust settles....

I voted no, but I could be wrong,either way both face sexist, and racial attacks, and I am sure the republicans will continue to do this,and will try and obsruct her, as they have Obama if she gets elected,I am also still hoping Bernie Sanders runs, he is my foirst choice above all.

in Oregon our ballots are delivered by US Mail. we have 10 days to 2 weeks to complete and retun. A Federalized system would limit the damage from manipulation at the local level.

Ditto what Marc said. We need somebody smart in the White House, we don't need kooky. Paul's kookiness isn't harmless and Hillary's smart enough to know that she has to at least please us a little. She's no great friend of labor and she'll no doubt push TPP as hard as anybody but we'll just have to call her on it and she'll know when she's caught.
Paul is only peeling away upper class yuppie brats who imagine themselves rebels but really want anything but an upset of the existing order. He may, if elected, stop collection of metadata - for a while - but not for very long. His main priorities are serving the oligarchy.
Doug H, Bill Clinton privatised more than any other president. Ronald Reagan made peace with the Soviets with the START treaty. Democrats can get away with doing conservative things more than Republicans can and vice versa because people so don't expect it that they often don't even notice.

John best not that it matters but for the record Cotton served as a platoon leader in Iraq. I don't think he would be filling his pants in combat. I don't agree with too many people on this blog but I do here we should all stay the hell out of this. N. America should become energy self sufficient and let this become a European problem. But I am struggling with the the human rights violations going on over there. Do we just sit here and do nothing. Can anyone tell me what the UN is for and what they do? Shouldn't this be what they do? All countries in this together
Again, no choice with this "poll". Nevertheless, if we took everyone who lied off the air, we'd see mostly reruns of old TV shows and movies (which might not be all that bad). I seriously doubt there's anyone in the news or "talking head" industry who hasn't either lied or at least stretched the truth (Thom Hartmann naturally excluded). What we as individuals and the media in general must do is continue to remain skeptial of everything thing we see or hear and never forget that we have a right and duty to question, and that especially includes the media.
Not only should voting be a federal "right", it is our duty and responsibility as US Citizens to vote. When compared to other nations, where people walk for miles and endure all sorts of weather, hardships, intimidation (and sometimes even beatings, mutilations, or even in some cases, risk death), our voting record in this country is pathetic.
I agree, Bob gives it to us short and sweet and to the point. However, If we were going to tackle a Voter's Rights Bill, I would want the elections to be at least over a 2 day period and for one, if not both of those days, to be holidays. Perhaps one of the most important features that this Bill will contain is a provision for Election fraud. If any one is caught and convicted of committing Election fraud they should be imprisioned for 15 to 20 years.
Have no problem with the information presented regarding the stupidity and risks of attacking Iran. You might want to check out Cotton's military service. I suspect his staff would not cotton to supporters messing with the facts. ;)

Personally, it just adds to my distrust and lack of respect for his actions and thinking that he does have combat experience in Iraq and a more complicated assignment in Afghanistan.
I would personally like to know if he has seen pictures of the babies being born in Iraq horribly deformed from DU we spread around.
Kymone mis spoke when he said that the chief of police in ABQ was going to prosecute the killer cops of James Boyd. The chief, Gordon Eden, after seeing the fatal video called it a justified shoot. It is the DA of ABQ that is bringing charges and that is only after a MAJOR out cry from the public. Of the 20+ shootings that the DOJ called civil rights violations aka bad shoots this will be the 1st time a killer cop(s) is charged by the DA.
Cotton, just like the rest of these Neo-con trainees, like Marco Rubio, etc., are only aware of American history from the late seventies till now. They don't even know how many changes there have been since the Neo-cons infiltrated the Republican party. As far as how well the economy worked during the fifties and sixties is concerned, they are completely and undeniably CLUELESS.
Why not a truth meter that shows at the bottom of the screen every time a politician is speaking on the air? That alone would end many careers. Not to mention being very good for America.
