I just want to thank you for being you, your show is the best anywhere, anytime, IMHO. You are one of my favorite teachers.
Afghanistan seems to be an especially hot topic lately which is a good thing, but what we don't here is the real reasons why we are still there. The media always acts as if the U.S does not have any alterior motives. Were told very little about the deals that are happening behind the scenes like the Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline (TAP), and about U.S. investors (like J.P. Morgan) involvement in mining activities which Afghanistan is said to possibly have some of the biggest deposits of rare metals on the planet. So why are we really still there? So that J.P. Morgan can finish their work http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/18/world/asia/18mines.html?_r=0”? Are we staying there through 2014 so we can finish the pipeline which is scheduled to be completed in 2014? I would assume that there is a major mining operation going on as well involving some big U.S. players, but of course we don't here about these kinds of things in the news.
Anyhow, those are just some issues I think we need to have more info. about to understand the big picture.
What Romney and Obama say is irrelevant.
The corporate media's event tonight is not a debate! It's just corporate (R) & (D) party theater — entertainment for people who self-restrict themselves to choosing only between evils.
The corporate party will do whatever the corporate party will do, regardless of whether its (R)s or (D)s are installed.
The only relevant actual debate will be online...

The corporate media routinely restricts participation in POTUS debates to only the corporate party's candidates — the Republican and the Democrat corporate money manufactured sociopaths dedicated to working together to continue the continuum of corporatocracy.
Democracy Now! is providing equal time for on-ballot alternative candidates — pausing their taping of the corporate media's "debate" after each question addressed by the corporate party's (corporate person) candidates... to allow voters to also hear the positions of non-corporate (natural person) candidates.

If I could ask Romney anything it would be if he would be willing to live off of one of my paychecks for a couple of months without access to any of his money or accounts to see how the middle class lives.
Paul Ryan says he wants to help the 47% get jobs so they can be good taxpayers.
He really is bad at numbers; the unemployment rate is not 47%.

Yes I totaly agree. I was suprised at the tone of voice he was using. Does no one in America know how much money has been wasted on failed Gov. programs like Solyndra, the Chevy Volt, etc, etc, etc ,etc. Is it they know but don't care. Doesn't any one care that your embassy was attacked and four Americans where brutly killed. Your President cared so much he went to Las Vegas. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. No where else in the world would put up with this and Americans have him leading the polls. God bless America, you are going to need it if he gets elected again.

Nothing will happen Thom, because if Obama doesn't have the courage to put liars, cheats and frauds in jail - no one will. Citizens United (which is really Corporations United) and the GOP says corporations are people. Well, if they were - plenty of them would be locked up.
I totally support Obama and I fear the GOP agendas around this country, but I am deeply disappointed in the way some things have gone this past 4 years. It perpetuates apathy.
Again the liberals are on the defensive using the race card against the conservatives. Pay no attention to this president and his words of division, constantly trying to divide this countrY with his ideology. Also, what did he do after the Lybian tragedy -- he blamed the video and had the maker of the video pulled out of his house in the middle of the night. Folks, this is bald faced TYRANNY right in your face. How can this country possibly justify these actions. We are losing our country to this tyrannical regime.

I feel it's much more about obstruction, than cojones.. OB needs our help to show support, rather than bailing bc OB is not as liberal as we like. Abandoning OB like helping Romney.
What Obama meant when he said, "I can't do this by myself, you have to support me," is this: Obama cannot and in fact will not even try to reign in the corruption, unless there are so many people tens of millions of people demonstrating in the streets that our government fears an armed or a passive revolution and the media can't ignore it without looking like a bunch of incompetent putzs, THEN, with that totally unstoppable impetus behind him, Obama- a man who has never been noted for his political courage in any situation, will allow himself to be forced to do the job he was claimed he had the cojones to do.
Frankly, I think Michelle Obama would be more likely to do the job than Barak. I think she has a bigger pair than he does. He is certainly welcome to prove me wrong.
Schneiderman has always been for meaningful penalties for the criminal banksters. He and AG Biden in MD were holdouts when the Justice Dept. wanted to give the criminals a mere slap on the wrist.
What main stream media do you refer? The "New Right" has control of CNN (Clearchannel Network); Fox (Murdoch's NewsCorp); and actually - almost All newspapers, radio, tv and the net. We don't have a lot of choices, anymore. Sites like Thom Hartmann, Ron Reagan, Jr., The Nation, 1/2 of MSNBC (i.e. Rachel Maddow), Bill Maher. Some places don't get anything but Fox. We are starting to hear more and more about ALEC, Oligarchists, Theocrats; but, we don't get all the news. We don't see the thousands in the streets that are protesting (e.g. Mexico, spain, Greece, Germany). They're fighting against the Austerity Agenda, too, so, they don't let us see that news - can find it on the web, though. I just keep posting info on some of the shows and hope they do a segment one day SOON!!
Your comment was a very interesting read! I agree, there are too many court cases won with no significant penalties. If I remember correctly, CA fined Diebold $1.1 Million; but, that's still peanuts! It's all about Return on Investment (ROI). Treason is exactly what it is!! Put them in one of their privatized prisons with the general population!! Can I mention that there is a case of a simple probe (Hersti Stick - named for Hersti who discovered the means used to rig the votes). None of the software can be scrutinized as the mfgs claim "Must be protected" laws, etc.. Romney owns Preferred Shares in Diebold. Romney's old buddies from Bain now own Scytl (handcountedpaperballots.org). States - especially swing states have been replacing machines at a rapid pace. It's all just too contrived to be a Fair Election. How can the POTUS and AG NOT know what their up to? That's what's starting to puzzle me...I don't care how little time Holder has....The "New Right of Paul Weyrich" is Going to take over. We'll live under a Theocratic/Oligarchial gov't. Shuffle them all off to one of Bush's Mega-Prison Complex's he had built for us.
Unfortunately I think too big to fail is synonmous with too big to prosecute.....at least in a meaningful way. We need to focus on why," We the People," allow a few among us to become so rich and powerful, they in turn become a giant black hole of greed sucking away all of the freedom and liberty the rest of us are trying so hard to preserve.
No matter what the financial penalty is, the Banksters will steal it right back two-fold. We all end up paying for their legal expenses one way or another with socialized bailouts, 401k frauds etc. It's similar to how we all end up paying for the Koch's hatred of Democracy media bills..... at the gas pump, another big FRAUD!
A smoke-screen - they are great at "slight-of-hand" tactics - thank the Heritage Fdn (think tank) for that. Whatever they say/do is the opposite and they are now Very predictable. The only voter fraud found was in the absentee ballots. None of their voting restrictions address that because absentee ballots usually favor the Republicans. It was known a year ago that the AG wouldn't have enough time to fight all the battles. Then, they "invented" the Fast & Furious with the help of the NRA and were able to distract his time, too. As long as we spend efforts to fight the restrictions, we are thrown off the scent of Election Fraud.
These charges are an election scam like the promise to look at legalizing dope smoking, and will quietly disappear after Obama is re-appointed and Jamie Dimon takes over as head of the fed.

i believe this lawsuit was filed against the bank because dem and rep are not the same.. Obama is part liberal and part conservative. the lawsuit was, IMHO, the liberal side finally shining thru. And it's about friggin damn time too.. As for funding, DEMs need to show some backbone, pod we will all forever be if business' bitches.. When DEM'S win elections anyway, big business will still donate to the front runners, no matter who they are (although in this time of extremes it may not look that way much at the moment).

Yes, Ohio is notorious for Election Fraud! The CEO, Diebold - resigned after an email he sent to Bush - guaranteed a victory in Ohio - was found. CA threw Diebold machines out awhile ago after Diebold was found guilty and fined over $1,000.000. In FL, Gore's votes were counted backwards and other irregularities. There is a lot of information on Ohio & Election Fraud!! I put a couple great websites on my post - hope you might "join the fight", lol....There's good info on what to look for and who to contact should you find irregularities. The best thing is to "share" and bump the articles & site address' and exposure is our best defense. Would be nice if they had penalities that put them away for a very long time -- in one of their privatized prisons would be Justice!!
Thom, I think you need to take another at Paul Ryan’s social security plan. It is a terrible plan, but for reasons you have not yet presented. You have presented that it is a plan to get Wall St. to fund the Romney/Ryan campaign, but you have not discussed how strong the catnip is. Michael Hiltzik in the Aug 23, 2012 edition of the LA Times has presented details that I think you should discuss on air (and interpret for the rest of us). The Ryan Social Security essentially says take up to 80% of your social security contributions and invest in Wall St without fear of losing anything. The plan has an FDIC type of safety net. The result is all the losers on Wall St will just increase our national debt. Peter Ferara said something like this on your program when you kept asking him who will pay for the losses. He avoided answering you in any detail.
Are they finally being called to account because wealthy clients were screwed or is someone finally standing up for the rest of us--who probably got stuck with the "junk" anyway? 401(K)s are a racket.
