  • Romney Writes Off His Own Electorate...   12 years 38 weeks ago

Reprint : After watching Thom Hartmann's show and hearing Mitt Romney speak of the 47% who are dependent on the government for their needs, I am sure of one thing, Romney and Ryan need to be politically destroyed on Election Day. I have been skeptical about many things I have read and heard both on R. T. and on the various programs that talk about the politicians and their motivations. I really think there is a conspiracy to destroy the middle class and poor of America and turn us all into worker drones for the benefit of the wealthy. I support the Green Party and their agenda and have my doubts about Obama and his intentions, given the fact that he is promoting the TPP agreement for free trade that will destroy American based jobs. But, too allow Mitt Romney and the right wingers to win in Nov. by pulling votes away from Obama, will be the last straw that destroys the camel’s back. That back being the workers of America, both blue and white collar workers that keep this country strong and instill the right ethics in our children. To allow these scoundrels to win, would essentially be to give our children's and our grandchildren's future away to the unethical 1 percenters. It is time we declared War on these ruthless people and take back America at any cost. It appears his (Romney) contempt for the middle class and poor envelopes all manner of working people from our teachers, steel workers, policemen, grocers, tradesmen of all types to our brave men and women in the service of our great country in the military. We must unite this election year to make sure this man is destroyed politically in the polling place. Take your place in the polling booth to defeat this enemy of the working class and show the 1 percenters they cannot buy our country. Stop the Fascists from stealing our country in Nov. and get the vote out to defeat these people once and for all. Long live the Republic and long live Democracy in America.

Until he started offending people like Bill Kristol and some of the other conservatives, he could have recovered. Now...I don't think so.

    Thank you.

And thank you again for this (from a Vietnam era "peacenik" who believes in non-violent demonstration and our political process) - "We live in a free nation with a democracy for most if not all, and the fight must continue in a peaceful manner or the message will be lost and the movement will lose support by the everyday hard working Americans that witness on a daily basis the struggles we are going through to regain our rights and freedoms from assault from the 1 presenters and the politicians that support their effort to destroy the middle class.. Not all politicians in Washington and in our State Capitals are out to destroy the middle class, those are the people we need to support this election year."

Although we must bear in mind that the conservative mind will more strongly believe his lies the more they are disproved with facts. Being the eternal optimist that I am, I firmly believe he will be defeated in November. What I worry about is that while Obama may well win his 2nd term, that the House will remain in the hands of the GOP and Tea Party and will continue to obstruct any progress for the next 4 years. I think we will gain back some democratic seats there and pray we retain or increase democratic majority in the Senate. I would really like to be surprised come November and find that the democrats have taken back the House.

The whole idea behind Citizens United was to allow the Rich to increase “their living off the government.”

I don’t have the numbers in front of me but I don’t think government disbursements for unemployment exceed government’s $16 Trillion payments to already rich Wall St bankers over the same time period.

And “if it were not but for” the government subsidies to our largest corporations you wouldn’t witness some of the uber high salaries we are seeing amongst the 1%! And for Christ sake what’s Immelt’s GE and Wall St’s Geithner doing in the Administration if the goal of the rich isn’t to live off the government?! Don’t the rich benefit disproportionately by the public services the government provides the people they employ? Like education and public transportation?

  • Will Romney's endless gaffes cost him the election?   12 years 38 weeks ago

These are not gaffes ,these are his true beliefs and that is the saddest thing of all ! But I tell you one thing ,he comes right out and say,s what,s on his mind ,it might not be what we all want to hear but remember nobody does anything wrong given there model of the world !

The politics of fear and entitlement and separation theology are playing itself out for us all to see these differences between the rich and poor have been going on since the beginning of time, but now with the information available and instant communication it's just a little bit more visible and visibility is another word for the truth and now at this stage in the game the truth is the most important tool we have.

There is no more fairness in the market place anymore ,only domination and a systematic elimination of competition and minimising opportunity and controlling of the flow ,and the growth of wealth.

The republican party,s main game is controll ,controlling government,s public policy and government program's around the world to further ensure that the masses of the people remain regulated ,controled and subservient .

They see class status as a function of individual effort ,some have made it good so they assume that anybody can, this view is simplistic and naive .It assumes everybody has equal opportunity but the powerful strive and contrive to hold on to their money and their power and to increase it.

    Namaste

Folks need to remember something - - Dubya got in =twice=, and people =knew= what a destructive dork he was! Besides, if enough money is spent to make it -seem- like a close or close-ish race, people will be less likely to question the 'electonic coup' .. =again=!!

((Why in the hell Congress hasn't "investigated" and then =indicted= the makers and users of the 'election-fraud machines' is completely beyond me!))

  • Will Romney's endless gaffes cost him the election?   12 years 38 weeks ago

This "candidate" continues to show just how out of touch he is with the reality of millions of people in this country. As brrrk stated, "If there is a God..."

I also live in So Cal. The reason we do not have machines for voting is because of Debra Bowen our Sec of State. She declared the voting machines already purchased to be warehoused and never used. The financial situation had nothing to do with it. She knew the machines could be unreliable.

  • Occupy is back…   12 years 38 weeks ago

I live in S. California and the county I live in uses the "old" style punch card ballot. So it is almost impossible to rig the machine. I guess because of the severe financial situation our state is in, they never opted for new equipment here! The state votes for the Democrat party in almost every county, except for the Orange county area that is widely Repub. so we are all pretty sure who will win our state in the election. It is like Texas who generally always goes Republican. Still we are volunteering at call centers to make sure no one that can vote stays at home. There is too much riding on the election this year, including Prop.32 which we hope fails; it gives more unaccountable power to PAC's and Prop. 30 to raise taxes on the wealthier Californians for 7 years to help with the schools and other public needs. The Repug's are out to kill the tax bill, hopefully they won't win. Thanks for the info...keep up the fight. We know what will happen if Romney wins, death of the middle class and greater poverty for the poor.

Im constantly putting forth the positve's of progressive democratic reform via verbal exchange's with my stubborn mostly wealthy Republican relative's. They make abusive comments about reduceing/deleting my share of the family inheritance. When Im winning the arguments they hate me. They inherited their fortune's from WWII era democratic leaning parents. Go figure !!

Thom, I am looking for a gold star or corrections to my error in thought.

During the Repug convention (I listen to you on podcast, so I am always behind) you were having a discussion with a Romney econmic surrogate about the need for demand in our economy. He said the Romney plan would increase demand by encouraging entrepreneurship. He then gave an example of the iPhone and how it increased demand. I think that you then described how Apple was taking jobs out of the country, and we should tariffs by getting out of the WTO. I agree with what you said, but it does not directly point out how ignorant the surrogate was. My point is that the iPhone did not increase demand at all. All it did was redistribute the little demand we have. Demand is only increased by raising wages or increasing private debt.

Occupy the Voting Booths. Fighting ELECTION FRAUD!! Voter Fraud is a smoke-screen - it doesn't exist. Election fraud is rampant. MI, McCotter, 2012; FL, Bush, 2000; OH, Bush, 2004; WI, Walker, 2012 Proven in court that FL machines counted Gore's vote Backwards. OH, Diebold voting machine CEO guarantees Bush victory in OH. Had to resign his position - court case, Won. Romney owns preferred shares in Diebold. No machines are made in the USA - VERY suspect software! Malaysian manufacturer of machines/software is a casino magnate - wants casino in FL. Iceland, Ireland, Germany have just banned the machines. True the Vote to mobilize 1,000,000 to intimidate voters on election day. Look up what machines are used in your county (blackboxvoting.org) and push to get them banned! Site also tells you how to be active in catching when they are rigging the votes. Also, CO just passed HB1036 and it will be boilerplated to other "New Right" (Weyrich) states. Curtails our ability to verify election ballot votes which is a guaranteed right under the constitution. They hid it in an unrelated bill. WI tried to burn the ballots from Walker's recall election so we couldn't verify the votes. We need to know our Rights and how to help ensure that our votes are NOT stolen! If they can mobilize 1,000,000 to intimidate us....WHY can't we mobiize 2,000,000 to ensure we verify the votes as Constitutionally guaranteed. You can bet if romney is elected, that will be amended!!!

  • Will Romney's endless gaffes cost him the election?   12 years 38 weeks ago

Mr Rommney has offended some of his contributors also. Now that Corporations are people, the 47% must include some of the 1%.

The GE's of the U.S. who are reported to not pay taxes, and feel they are entiteled (subsidies) must fit this "fact".

I've been waiting for a moment like this. The Koch Bros, Rove and all the big donors have been bragging endlessly about Citizens United and their ability to buy the Presidency. I'm thrilled Romney spoke out like such a jerk. About costing him the Presidency - hmm. There are enough people who dislike a man of color in the White House so much, they might still vote for Romney or not vote at all. Some will write in Ron Paul. The "swing voters" may finally see Romney as he really is, and vote for Obama. There are still more tapes and videos out there, so as those become available, we'll see how deep he's dug himself. I personally hope it's SIX FEET UNDER.

  • Will Romney's endless gaffes cost him the election?   12 years 38 weeks ago

He ment what he said but he said it wrong? ABC news said tonight that the 47% included people who were retired and people earning under 50,000 dollars a year. Mitt refered to the 47% as slackers. His character is showing and he can't take it back.

  • Happy Birthday Occupy Wall Street   12 years 38 weeks ago

It was the Bush tax cuts that provided the fodder to financial community to bring the economy down.

Bush did nothing to discourage the closing of the 60,000 factories in the US during his term.

McDonalds had 60,000 job openings and 830,000 applications. Where do you think these hippies should get a job?

  • Occupy is back…   12 years 38 weeks ago

So your hatred of Obama would justify letting Romney win the election by pulling votes away from the President and voting for the Green Party, which has no chance of winning. Do you think through your words or are they just a compulsion you cannot control? Now respond by putting down someone who has a different point of view, like you usually do in this type of situation. Why don't you run for President, you seem to have all the answers? I still think you’re an agent out to destroy democracy through your contempt of anyone in political power and the fact you only seem to distract people from the real issues facing us this election year. This is just my simple take on your words that are always directed at discrediting everyone. You must be one unhappy individual with a great deal of empty time on your hands. I almost feel sorry for you, almost. Why haven't you ever mentioned what the Republican candidate does or says?

(9/17/2012) Every movement that has been used to accomplish good for our society has been under surveillance of some kind. The police dept., the F.B.I. and Homeland Security have all actively infiltrated O.W.S. as well as groups that have sprung up from this movement. This is no surprise to anyone, but the severity that the local police have used is not called for. These people as a whole have not been violent protesters; they resemble the peace in Vietnam and the Civil Rights movements of the sixties. And, if you recall or are old enough to have participated you can remember that they were battered by the various factions of police as well as being infiltrated by the separate police agencies. It should be no surprise that it is happening today. Unlike Canada and different European countries the protesters are not throwing objects or Molotov cocktails at the authorities that are using force against them. My main concern is that somewhere along the road of these protesting someone may become violent and the response by the police will be extremely violent. They have to be vigilant in their efforts to make sure this doesn't happen by one of them or by an infiltrator trying to stir things up to the point of no return. We live in a free nation with a democracy for most if not all, and the fight must continue in a peaceful manner or the message will be lost and the movement will lose support by the everyday hard working Americans that witness on a daily basis the struggles we are going through to regain our rights and freedoms from assault from the 1 presenters and the politicians that support their effort to destroy the middle class.. Not all politicians in Washington and in our State Capitals are out to destroy the middle class, those are the people we need to support this election year.

Throw banksters and crooked politicians in jail!

I can't believe that people still want to vote for Obama...he is just another right-wing Republican who pretended, once apon a time, to be a Democrat.

Chris Hedge's lawsuit against President Obama over Section 1021(b)(2) of the NDAA, which authorizes the military to detain US citizens indefinitely, strip them of due process and hold them in military facilities, including offshore penal colonies...has won his lawsuit...thanks to US District Judge Katherine Forrest. The government couldn't believe it! And they are now taking it to a higher court.

“This may be the most significant constitutional standoff since the Pentagon Papers case,” said Carl Mayer, co-lead counsel for the plaintiffs.

“The administration of President Obama within the last 48 hours has decided to engage in an all-out campaign to block and overturn an order of a federal judge,” said co-lead counsel Bruce Afran. “As Judge Forrest noted in her opinion, nothing is more fundamental in American law than the possibility that journalists, activists and citizens could lose their liberty, potentially forever, and the Obama administration has now lined up squarely with the most conservative elements of the Republican Party to undermine Americans’ civil liberties.”

"The request by the government to keep the law on the books during the appeal process raises a disturbing question. If the administration is this anxious to restore this section of the NDAA, is it because the Obama government has already used it? Or does it have plans to use the section in the immediate future?"

"Liberal apologists for Barack Obama should read Judge Forrest’s 112-page ruling. It is a chilling explication and denunciation of the massive erosion of the separation of powers."

    http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/we_won_--_for_now_20120917/

The Obama regime wants the ability to arrest "future protestors" ie: a preemptive arrest on those who are planning to protest. Their argument is that because of the violent protesting abroad that there are possible Muslims, or non-Muslims, in the US that could rile up the people and bring the violence to the US. Problem is that the only real violence, so far, has been the police actions against the peaceful protestors. Maybe we citizens should do a citizens arrest on some of those police and politicians that are instigating violence against peaceful US citizens? The biggest reason why peaceful demonstrations turn violent is because the police use violence first....at the behest of their chain of command all the way up to the President.
