  • Despite a bad year, Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan got a 600% raise   13 years 16 weeks ago

The banksters are going to be laughing all the way to their banks no matter whether Republicans or Democrats are in power because even Democrats (not all) are puppets for these Corporate Welfare Queens (Kings?) .

Obama has shown just who he is not, in the last 3 years, and he is certainly not anything like the image he painted for us when he campaigned the first time. Just the very fact that he has not sided with those truth-telling whistle-blowers who have shown the world the war crimes and corruption that has run rampant in our "institutions" including failing to investigate the very undeniable lies and war crimes....and I'd venture to say "treason" of the Bush Administration...tells me that Obama will certainly not suddenly change for the next four years.

I'm sure Obama will be re-elected and I am very likely to vote for him, myself... but only because I wouldn't want a damn Republican in office. I suffer from no illusions, unlike some, that Obama will be different, in his next term, than a Republican. But voting for Obama would be a symbol, and a vote against the Republicans...even if it also is also a symbol, to the ruling elilte...the banksters..Wall Street, Corporations anyway, of my apparent gullibility as shown by my willingness to even continue their charade of democracy.

There is no way to hope for real change by voting in Democrats...even if every last politician..the President or all of Congress were Democrats...the ruling elite would still have us all begging for crumbs or a decent healthcare system..because the system has been rigged so that money controls the elections. And when money controls the elections, even the Democrats are hooked into pandering to those with all the money. The Democrats (not all) are just as bought off as the Republicans are...but the Republicans are more open about their convictions, as detesting as they are...they have an advantage that the Democrats don't have. They are not selling out their convictions or pretensions and no matter how ridiculous they sound....they are performing exactly the way their base wants them to perform. They are in alignment with their base way more than the Democrats are with their base. Obama, and many Democrats, have sold out their base showing them the lying hypocrites that they are.

If the Obama administration had just, at least, struggled for a public option, at least, and even if he had lost Obamacare, he may have won back at least some of his supporters. But Obama has, over and over, sold out his base to please the ruling elite and their Republican puppets.

Now, if Obamacare fails entirely, and he doesn't throw into the ring a single payer system..or medicare/medicaid for all then I don't think Obama will have many overly enthusiastic supporters this time around.

I am, obviously, not an enthusiastic supporter. I know when I have been played for a sucker...because I believed in what Obama said he stood for and voted for him on that basis. But now, I may, or may not, vote for Obama again. And if I do, it will only be because he has done something so great, like single payer system, or because I just want to blacken the Republican eyes some more with another Obama Presidency.

Can you imagine four more years of the same kind of display of childish, foot-stomping, racist idiocy that the Republicans displayed the last 3 years. Our comedians (like Bill Maher) needs more fodder for chuckles with yet another cry-baby Republican set-back. But again, it wouldn't be a set-back for the ruling elite because they own both parties. They will get everything they want and we will lose everything that we need no matter who is elected.

So go ahead and vote for Obama for the pure enjoyment of ticking off the Republicans...but don't think it is going to change things in your favor. Obama will continue to play the same game as he has for the last 3 years.

It is unfortunate but, there will be no real change until there is a revolution, or at least an indisputable verge of a revolution that scares the crap out of the ruling elite. If they think that the masses will overwhelm the system the ruling elite has set up, and all their ill-gotten wealth and property will be taken away from them...or even if their very lives are at stake...they will stop oppressing us. You think it is quaint, that all these Arabic nations are overthrowing their ruling elite and you may even think...good for them...it's about time? Well, it's time you start believing that we may have to go through the same thing in order to rein in our ruling elite. Oh, but that would be so messy. Damn right it would. But do you really want to continue to live under the domination of oppression? Your children?

Maybe our "ABC Society" is already in formation in the incipient form of Occupy Wall Street. We have already seen the Javertian toadies spraying tear gas and banging heads at peaceful demonstrations. It always culminates in rebellion in one form or another or nothing gets changed. The rich and powerful will always exploit and take advantage of those not willing to rise up and fight back...especially when the rich and powerful have rigged the only peaceful means of equality, democracy through the ballot box. Voting no longer works and is merely a smoke-and-mirrors, shuffle the pea under the pod, distraction.

Alright, for that you get good grades now. I don't care to bash you at any expense. I make mistakes too.

Aha, you're a teacher and can tell people...... I'm probably too impatient to pass as older person.

Foolish ideas...... say, don't the things Mitt Romney babbles make you cry at times?! I mean.... you're not as crazy as Liberty-First, so you should actually see this candidate is a perfect jester. How do you want to beat the President with that kind of goops?

You've learned a lot about German healthcare from me. You can't afford being too bold now! Did you store that in your brain : Germans pay into the health insurance, deducted from their payroll in progressive percentage rate!

By the way, Frau Merkel is way older than me, though still believes in public healthcare. There're more actually old people in Germany who are not young and impatient, but still believe in public healthcare. You can't really blame it all on my innocent, gullible, young blue eyes. LOL

America won't have any sane and sensible policies until the people stop providing regular 99% popular vote mandates for a continuum of the corporate (R) & (D) party's sociopathic policies.

Note that climate change is rapidly accelerating into irreversible catastrophic consequences for those so unfortunate to inherit the cost of the ignorance of the Greatest Generation, and the depravity of My Generation.

    Hi Clarissa,

You're correct, I'm proud to be a teacher. I worked hard, paid my way through school (no student loans, no government assistance) to get the proper education and credentials to teach. I didn't enter teaching right out of college, I worked in private industry for a lot of years and after a successful career, I retired and decided to pursue teaching. For your information, I have a BS, and a MA from the University of Maryland. Unlike you, I make mistakes. I try to learn from them, mistakes are a great teacher.

My guess about you is you are in your late twenties, and judging from the comments you make, have quite a bit to learn. I too was an idealists once, I never had much interest in politics though I never could understand why anyone want to depend so much on someone in government. I see a glimpse of practically in you. I give you ten years and your foolish ideals will be behind you.

The German Professor in Thom's show was just being polite. Some Germans think America is a great country, but most Germans say America is insane and a threat to the whole world. Well, that's what they kept telling me all the time.

You can tell Germans about Stephanie Miller, Thom Hartmann, Ed Schultz ect. -- they never heard about that. Sadly they don't know LIBERAL America, they just hear our crazy things. But at least they like President Obama. Since Barack Obama is our president, they actually like us a bit. ;o)

Santorum gay? Probably. People who can't accept being gay, are trying to fight gayness in their environment. Trying to stop being gay by trying to kill everything gay. Pink Ball? Aaaaaah, GAYYYY -- amok-amok-amok this ball is GAY!!

    Insane Republican world. LOL

These banksters want you to vote for Republicans in November, folks. So if you like what happens in Wall Street : Donate to the banksters, just vote as they want you to vote.....

I mean, be nice and do something for our actual Welfare Queens in Wall Street. They never get enough and ask for government money too. These are the Welfare Queens, how President Reagan had described them.

If you have some gold in your dentition, they might find a way to get even that. And why shouldn't they have a right to do that, in case you should vote for Republicans -- what else do you expect??

So be nice to the Welfare Queens in Wall Street -- donate to the banksters by voting for Republicans.

Very easy : a goat shouldn't be employed as gardener, for this wouldn't be good for the garden. Somebody who spells naive "nieve" shouldn't be employed as teacher. For this is bad for the students! At least you're bragging too much with being a teacher, if your orthography looks sloppy like that.

    Quote MaryMary:nieve
http://public.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/nieve.html : "NAIVE -- People who spell this French-derived word “nieve” make themselves look naive." (quoted)

You have no clue how German health insurance works : NOT financed by tax, but by premiums of those who are insured over the payroll. I had explained that! The government only pays health insurance for those who are on welfare.

If I was in the south, I'd run away in no time. I wouldn't even take vacation in Florida or Tennessee for free! As I wouldn't go to Iran for free. My beloved town was consistently BLUE since WW2!

The Occupy Movement, camping in parks, are a little bit of a sanitary project indeed, but this isn't a drama. A sanitary drama would be mass poverty, and this is what the GOP ideology aims at! Millions without health insurance are a grave sanitary problem too. If you don't feel that way, you're not part of the civilized world.

  • Daily Topics - Wednesday March 28th, 2012   13 years 16 weeks ago

Everyone needs health care sooner, not just later. People who are healthy and free of any symptoms of disease, still need preventive care --- whether physicals, mammograms, eye exams, etc. And if you forgo preventive care, when you need care later, you will be denied health care insurance or charged high premiums for preexisting because without prveventive care, you will have no record to prove you had no preexisting.

    Clarissa,

Please don't lecture me on life in Germany. My family emigrated from Germany to the USA many years ago. It's a nice place, but my family left there for a better place. Here. You stated in Germany the Government pays for healthcare. You also apparently don't understand the meaning of naive (no matter how it's spelled) I believe you live in Tennessee so I'll say it so a person from Tennessee can understand it. You're dumb as a box of rocks. Where do you thing the German government gets it's money? From selling Volkswagens? No, they tax the citizens. The "free" healthcare they receive is paid for by taxes whether they want the healthcare or not .Also, where did I say I was a Republican? I consider myself an Independent. Your response is typical of most who post here, If I disagree with you, I must be a Fox news watchin, Obama hatin' Repub (notice how I'm trying to write so you can understand).

Lastly, your statement; "The reasons are humanitarian, sanitarian, it has to do with common good and order. No sane and civilized mind wants to have Ron Paul's kind of disorder, which after all is nothing but anarchy. Your kind of campaigning for disorder is actually good for pest, flees and bed-bugs. The resulting society would be middle-age chaos" sounds like you are describing those who particpate in the "Occupy" movements.

What does "Your like a goat working as a gardner"? mean. Is it some kind of Tennessee barnyard humor?

  • Today begins The US Supreme Court hearings on the constitutionality of Obamacare   13 years 16 weeks ago

If the press is right (and that is not always the case), then Obamacare will get struck down by the Supream Court. It could not pass as legislation in the last congress controlled by Democrats, it is so unpopular that almost 70% of Americans oppose it, and now the Supream Court is ready to declare it unconstitutional. How can anyone defend it? Are you guys really that smart?

  • George Zimmerman is still free more than a month after he murdered Trayvon Martin. Will he ever be arrested and tried?   13 years 16 weeks ago

Why are you using the " Valley of Dry Bones" as a reference to Black Man?" This is what happenes when using revised editions of the scripture. If you stay with original material you get a more accurate picture. The valley of dry bones has notheing to do with black/ white/ pink or any color, but explaines in verse 12 "Behold, O my people....."

Deut 28:37, Is refering to punishment of Isreal if they doen't obey the laws of God.

You bring "...The head of the corner" into a killing of humans, John 3:20 Talking about "The Lght... which of course is God Almighty Himself. And now TRUTH as you call it.Rev 22:19 " And if any man shall take away from the words of the book ot this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and the holy city, and from the things which are wriitten in this book."Eph 5:4...Neither filthinness, nor FOOLISH TALKING, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather the giving of thanks."

Verse 6 : Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience:. 2 Tim 2:23 " But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes".

1 Pet: 2:15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men. Verse 16 "As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God". When you use the scripture ,you are standing in the shoes of God. so be sure your are right. God is non-partisan, non-color, non-nationallity.there is right or wrong. No such thing as a gray area.John 3:18 "He that beliieveth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God". Don' t drag God onto our level. He has come to give us salvation. We have been killing each other since Adam ,for a new pair of shoes or another inch of dirt.

There was a time in America that one was innocent until proven guilty. But the media is the new court system, and now the proof is in the spin. I don't think what happened was right, however, if the constitution is going to be followed by the will of conveince, as our leaders do, then why use it at all? America is heading toward a militant state, as our law enforcement has become. The moto is not to protect and serve, but shoot first and cover it up later.

We have some relatively (not completely until we have functioning public healthcare!) civilized states, but on the whole we're actually tending to the 3rd World. To me Florida, Alabama ect. is 3rd World. Not only because of poverty, but also mentally.

Quote Janet Cruz:Wall Street is so powerful that it will take more than normal opposition to make any change. Only a massive protest demanding an end to the legalized bribery that controls all our elected officials, and support for candidates who promise not to take corporate money, will have any effect. The laws that are needed to end the corporate takeover of our country will never get passed without this kind of a revolution.
Dear Janet, this is an illusion. We need a 'revolution' figuratively in the electors' minds. That's why we're campaigning. Congress is so divided, because the American people is divided. We have to be honest to ourselves : there aren't just right-wingers in Congress, those right-wingers are our neighbors wherever we live. We cannot fade them out, or shoot them all. These people have a right to be dumb and vote against their self-interest. Over 40% Americans still are against Obamacare. It's crazy, but reality. We shouldn't block reality out.

Fact is, with this divided Congress we cannot make progressive laws, we can't even strike down Citizens United. It's just because so many voters failed. But these days the GOP make themselves so ridiculous, their acting is so silly and insane: I hope it will show in the results of coming election. :o)

We shouldn't twist the meaning of language. You cannot beat right-wing America via Revolution, unless you're not ready for civil war. As you know, many righties are well armed! We probably would win such civil war again (because stupid people rarely win wars), but it would be horrible, pretty much destroy America and many-many American lives and families.

We need a 'revolution' at the ballot -- figuratively. Which is the only peacefully civilized way. A real Revolution means violent overthrow. You can try that in a dictatorship (hoping the dictator resigns before you pay with too much blood), but not against a Congress, voted in by dumb voters. Because this would start a civil war for sure!!

Quote MaryMary:You are so nieve. Who do you think pays for the "free" public healthcare in Europe?
I THINK? No Siree, I PAYED in there myself, at that time when I worked in Germany. I know Republicans have no amp for solidarity in their brains, but this system works via solidarity. The government adjusts the premiums every couple years, deducted from your payroll -- in progressive percentage rate. Even those who are on welfare over there, have full health insurance, payed by government. In Germany it is required by law, that EVERYBODY has to have health insurance. In a civilized country nobody has a right to croak out on the street and possibly spread out their diseases. Republicans are savages, that's why they don't get it. Isn't Rush Limbaugh a savage? Isn't Donald Trump a savage? And how about Gingrich, dumping his wives as soon as they get sick. You guys are messy and asocial, that's all.

The reasons are humanitarian, sanitarian, it has to do with common good and order. No sane and civilized mind wants to have Ron Paul's kind of disorder, which after all is nothing but anarchy. Your kind of campaigning for disorder is actually good for pest, flees and bed-bugs. The resulting society would be middle-age chaos.

You're fighting for a goddamn battered old hat my friend. In central Europe (governed conservative, not socialist!) they would consider you a goop.
