In 2007 I traveled in France and the Netherlands in both train and car.

The trains are amazing and the toll roads in France are impeccable. The tolls are outrageously expensive and frequent, but they are the smoothest and most well maintained roads I've ever driven.

    RE: Clarissa, it is corporate

Touché mauiman58, you are right on point.

Clarissa seems to be a lockstep socialist who doesn’t have much love for America as it was designed by the framers. She would like to graft the sociological leftist policies of some Euro countries on top of the constitution. Since this is a difficult prize for the socialists to win, she follows the Progressive Liberal operating manual:
That is to attack, censor, distract, radicalize, lie, distort, vilify, and basically draw attention from anything that exposés what liberalism is. Its Socialism wrapped in a pink unicorn Trojan Horse. I'm not sure, but she may be a German not an American

SUCCINCT EXPLANATION OF TODAY’S LIBERAL BIAS

Liberal bias is partisan selection or distortion of information to support liberal policies. This bias can be expressed by professors and public school teachers, College Board exams, reporters and other journalists in mainstream media, and any other information source. Typically purveyors of liberal bias falsely present themselves as being objective. Liberal bias includes techniques such as distorted selection of information, placement bias, photo bias and liberal style. There is a difference between being liberal, having a liberal perspective, and having a liberal bias.
The essence of liberal bias is to dismiss or even to censor all opposing views. For liberals, to allow the airing or publishing of an opposing view creates the risk that people might discover errors in the liberal viewpoint. On the other hand, CONSERVATIVES TYPICALLY UPHOLD FREEDOM OF IDEOLOGICAL EXPRESSION, WITH MANY EXPRESSING THAT ALTHOUGH THEY MAY OPPOSE A LIBERAL VIEW WITH EVERY FIBER OF THEIR BEING, THEY WILL DEFEND TO THE DEATH THEIR RIGHT TO SAY IT, BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE THAT IN THE MARKETPLACE OF IDEAS THE TRUE WILL ALWAYS WIN OVER THE FALSE.

These people have to decide- Are they Christians who live in amrica OR are they Americans who practice christianity?

If the former then they are domestic enemies of our Constitution and as such traitors. If the latter they resoect, support,"...Uphold protect and defend defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies foreign and domestic..."

I think it is time to do away with the "Pledge of Allegiance." Not just the phrase "...under god..." It is time for a new pledge, a Citizens Oath. I propose the following:

I am one of We The People who is commited to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure the domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. To that end I will respect, support, uphold, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies foreign and domestic.and I will carry out the duties and responsibilities of a citizen of the United States of America.

This "Citizens Oath" says it all clearely and succinctly. It gives people a reminder of the purpose of our Constitution, the purpose and goals of our nation. It will be a point of discussion for all people, young and old.

    ~;^}>

Superstition is harmful to children and other living things.

If you like things the way they used to be- tax a millionaire, support a union and buy American.

    RE: "Tea party: Peaceful protests"?

You are referring to perhaps 1 (ONE) Tea Party rally where they wanted to underscore their constitutional rights to bear arms !! And that was their legally intended purpose for the rally. To remind all the socialists in Washington that you can’t take their guns away.

Americans have the right to strap guns to their hips, their foreheads, they can duck tape it to a baseball cap or wear it around their neck on the end of a gold chain if they want.
A constitutional right to bear arms.
Therefore they have broken no laws; therefore the police cannot engage them on this issue. However, if they concealed the weapons like criminals do, or don’t have a concealed weapon carry permit, then they would be breaking the law if they were caught.
Furthermore, please note: no firearms were discharged at any Tea Party Rally. Nor did they pistol whip anyone. In fact, not one single Tea Party Rally resulted in a single incidence of violence.
100% perfect is as 100% does. The facts don’t lie. Liberals lie.

Alternately, Occupy folks repeatedly violate laws and disturb the rights of others. When they are asked to peacefully disperse and refuse, it can result in some persuasion in order to protect the public. And in my last list of their bad behavior, I forgot to mention that MURDER was committed at occupy protests beside 100’s of other crimes.

The strategy of the occupy movement is to provoke a violent response, maybe get global news coverage of American police brutality. But in fact, overall considering what a bunch of immature blockheads came out of the closets, they were treated with far more patience than they deserved. Especially in light of all the pointless damage and financial harm every one of their occupy events caused.

In summary, the occupy movement is indefensible in their behavior, has no coherent message other than to disrupt like immature spoiled brats, and because of that, no one is paying any attention to them anymore.
They have amounted to little more than a public nuisance and a danger to property and persons.

The Tea Party movement is not financed by shadow interests. They are a grass roots organization founded and funded almost entirely by average Americans wishing to preserve America’s liberty and constitution and not have it hijacked by leftist radicals.
Their message is to thwart the spread socialism. Demand lower taxes not more spending, smaller government, restore liberty, leave our children alone and get your boots off our necks or we will vote you all out of office. They want the constitution upheld and if not trampled on. And stop the insane government waste of THEIR MONEY.
If not they will vote out any politician whether GOP or Dem or Independents that doesn’t listen.

THE FACTS DON’T LIE. LIBERALS LIE.

  • Rick Santorum wants America to be more like Iran?   13 years 18 weeks ago

I had this discussion with a fundamentalist ex-friend. My logic didn't help, because these people don't appreciate logic. Their answer always sounds like:

"You mustn't be smart, there are better values than logic."

"Jesus wants us to be like children."

They downright tend to consider stupidity, silliness and flatness virtue. And of course they downsize their own intelligence that way. Their communication doesn't make sense, and it isn't meant to make sense.

Basically this is pre-Enlightenment logic, roughly pre-Anno-Domini-1650. It is the anti-logical thinking of the middle-ages: Taking the whole Bible literally and wherever this conflicts with logic, deny and suppress logic. The outcome indeed is shockingly close to the society in Iran.

A discussion with fundamentalists is impossible. Liberals and Christian fundamentalists live in kind of entirely different universes. No option to communicate. I can communicate with my daughter, who is a disabled seagull. She isn't intelligent like humans, but she makes sense and I understand her language.

There was no other way than saying good-bye to my ex-friend. Her only goal was to convert me. These people are crazy.

I'm not ready to discuss privacy in public. If you see me living in a basement, possibly eating rats, I don't give a darn.

Serious politics must have a propaganda machine that isn't just blah-blahing. Whenever you do, you just kill your time. I want to feed my propaganda machine with stuff that makes sense. I obviously beat you and now you change to destructive.

Interesting to learn, you ARE a divided personality. You listen to liberal media because right wing stuff doesn't make sense. But you fight for right-wing goals because of your personal situation. You're not really convinced, you just argue selfishly. Very interesting to analyze that!

Quote mauiman58:I know you feel that anyone who works for money is somehow evil
    That's nonsense.

Quote mauiman58:...it is corporate greed that causes people to start new businesses and expand...
And we support them as long as they play fair and don't become monopolies which threaten a free market. If they invest in businesses, I love them and want them to get tax deductions. If they do it like Romney: tax, tax, tax, tax them.....

Quote mauiman58:I don't know that much about Germany, but I'll bet that they are not running the budget deficits that we are here.
I know the Germans discussed their debt years ago and there were calls for austerity. But these anti-Keynesians must have lost this fight. The German way is still fairly Keynesian under Merkel. Here in the U.S. Keynes has been a stepchild over the last few decades. Thom is right: Keynesianism boosts an economy -- austerity (Friedmanism) strangles it. This goes for ANY economy. Many nations have lots of debt and it would be better without. But austerity is worse than debt. Austerity really kills an economy pretty soon.

Quote mauiman58:And there is simply not enough money in the top 1 percent to tax to close the 1 trillion dollar a year gap we have now.
The 1%s actually throw money on the market to boost the GOP. My hope is, this gives our whole economy another boost. So we started with a little growth already in winter, spring gives a boost anyway...... Maybe Koch brothers & co. are shooting their own foot and after all help president Obama.... My dream: After 2012 four years uninterrupted Keynesian cure, to take this country back.

So? Governors are laying off teachers? How come computers can replace factory workers, accountants, flight engineers, but not teachers?

Computers allow students to "learn at their own pace" so that no student's fragile little ego is damaged. They prevent lifelong trauma to our little ones. Don't you care?

I did not know teachers are exempt from the laws of supply (money) and demand. There may be demand (by teachers' uniions) but there is no money. Does anyone understand that? NO MONEY. The Nanny State is out of money. Look at Greece if you do not understand what "NO MONEY" means.
