It's funny how right-wingers can fear that a cultural change will happen when nobody wants it to. That's what they get for not having baloney detectors.
They fear that merely learning Arabic can turn them Muslim, because deep down they know how gullible they are. That is, after all, how they were deluded into this fear in the first place.

Found the stats on property taxes in NJ, the issue she seems to not mention was how much housing prices have influenced taxes there. The rate in 2000 was 2.69% while the rate in 2007 was 2.45% and low and behold the avg. amount was $13,000 ( and she paid that exact amount) . She just neglected to mention that avg. housing value increased <b>182%</b> since 2000. This seems to be where she is getting her bs...

Can anyone explain to me why President Obama wants to extend the "Patriot" act provisions?
Accepting bribes has always been the American way. What is different today is that the acceptance of a bribe is good and not wrong. Bribes are part of the American psyche and part of the mainstream in America.
Gene, when you talk of imaginary numbers to people who are so ignorant to wish to eliminate all things Arabic, they think you're being sarcastic. Squaring -1 just doesn't register with them, we're talking about people that maybe just maybe didn't drop out of high school because home room was too tough and dealing with decimals may already be over their head. I mean good lord, Bryan Fischer and his ilk can actually equate language as being synonymous with religion... or basically he's getting his knowledge by incredible leaps of faith. Faith is a fantastic thing, its better to forget about logic and reason, and just cling to your own specific concepts.
The saddest thing about people with this delusional grasp on reality is that it seems that more and more people are willing to listen to and buy into it. Guess its easier and feels better to just go with it, than it is to risk hurting one's brain and attempt reason.
These are definitely interesting times.

Yah I feel so cheated having had to wait until 9th grade to have any foreign language instruction available at all, and even then only (closely related languages) French, Spanish and Latin.

It seems so incredible that Palin ranks so high as a presidential candidate. Are the conservatives setting up Palin to be a scapegoat and do away with all working Americans’ assets and safety nets, such as – Medicare, social security, and pension. The United States of Mortal Sin will be restored to her rightful place in history as a third world country and a banana republic.
I have just heard that homeland security is investigated my praise of foreign protesters who favor a better quality of life and the department will add my name to a fifth file. My praise of the protesters in Egypt is considered by homeland security as comforting the enemy and good deeds are prohibited under the Patriot Act.
What I forgot to mention on my comments on the video disc, “The End of Liberty,” was that good deeds are considered a foreign terrorist act by an American. Our fascist-Nazi leaders want you and me to evil, vile, and wicked persons.

Americans are really stupid. I truly believe that the more languages we learn and know the better we are as an educated person. We can reach other persons through our willingness to speak their language. Our son works with engineers from foreign countries and each engineer knows three or more languages.
My prediction is that by 2100 Islam will be America’s majority religion and knowledge in Arabic will be a plus. Learning Arabic is important preparation for the changes we will encounter through the Twenty-first Century. I want to compliment the Mansfield School District for their vision into the future.
We are not a Christian country. We are in a Monetarianity nation and money is our god.
Teachers have a difficult job in dealing with school administrators, parents and spoiled children.
Thom, please do not let the conservative crazies filibuster on your radio show.
Mr. Fischer is also responsible for this: Native Americans morally disqualified themselves from the land. There is no debating with that kind of crazy but I understand the desire to expose these new "mainstream" voices.

When will we disavow use of anything Arabic? I think we should get rid of their numbers and go back to Roman Numerals. We're smart enough to figure out how to deal with the decimal problem and complex and imaginary numbers without using those evil numerals.

Wish he wouldn't allow these people to get away with dismissing his push back on correcting the facts as "its a disagreement". No, no, you don't get to disagree with facts, facts are facts, you can disagree with opinions not facts, and when Thom allows them to dismiss his push back as a disagreement he's silently letting them give legitimacy to their disinformation campaign.
Well Thom, you may feel like your being a bit rough with your guests, but in reality you're just being true the facts. Please remember the facts always take precedence over someone's hurt feelings.
