Are you kidding me? Let's see, I could pay off my mortgage, pay off my modest credit card balance and have some left over for a little fun. Desperate times call for desperate measures, at the very most 10 minutes with the Orange man and his "boner" is well worth a little financial security for me and mine. What can I say, I guess I'm the proverbial "cheap date".

Aren't the Taliban the ones who throw acid in the faces of young women who dare to attend school? Who defaced ancient (world heritage) Budhist statuary because it somehow offended Allah, or Mohammed, or something? Etc, etc... saying they're "more moderate" than Al-Queda doesn't seem to be saying much, although, considering the "quagmire", I too am all for bringing the troops back home. Sad.

This is an issue the supreme court decided long ago.
The mathematics don't count. The people that count the vote determine the out come of the elections not the number of people that cast the vote one way or the other and add to that the corporate identity , mass media included, is far and away the most powerful vote cast in spite of the intention of the public, all compliments of the supreme court.
Consider the accomplishments of Mubaric, the Shaw of Iran, Pinoche, and the list goes on and on. Elections become nothing but theater and the best intentions of the founding fathers, the constitution and the bill of rights are reduced to stage props. Follow the money.

IT’S ALL OVER BUT THE SHOUTING. OUR SINFUL NATION IS FINISHED. HOT OFF THE PRESS! CATASTROPHE HITS AMERICA IN 2015! CURRENTLY, 13% OF THE FAMILY INCOME IS SPENT ON FOOD BUT WITH FOOD INFLATION THAT PERCENTAGE WILL RISE TO 40%. CHINA WILL PULL THE PLUG ON BAILING OUT AMERICANS. HER CURRENCY WILL GO THROUGH THE ROOF AND THE AMERICAN DOLLAR PLUMMETS TO ZERO. CHINA WILL BUY UP AMERICAN BUSINESS FOR PENNIES ON THE DOLLAR. CHINA WILL BE THE AMERICAN EMPLOYERS. As for the Voters Rights Act of course it shouldn't be repealed. The GOPers are essentially saying "trust me". That would be the same as trusting Dick Cheney. They must be of the opinion that our citizens are unbelievably ignorant. If anything the civil rights of our citizens should be increased, never decreased. Repeal the "Patriot" Act and reinstate Habeus Corpus and Posse Comitatus. Why do we suddenly have to give up our civil rights in order to ptotect them? Force law enforcement to do the work for which they're paid. God know's there's enough law enforcement and intelligence agencies to camp one in everyone's back yard!

Sorry for the multiple posts, I have so many anti war songs...I can't pick just one! This whole set during U2's Vertigo tour was very moving and very anti war. They started the set with Love and Peace or Else/Sunday Bloody Sunday/Bono's speech about Co-existence and his headband with the symbols/Bullet the Blue Sky and Running to Stand Still with the Declaration of Human Rights scrolling in the background read by Aung San Suu Kyi and then the gorgeous Hallelujah's in to Pride in the Name of Love. It's the most moving song set list and really speaks to the anti-war movement. Check it out utube or U2's Vertigo Tour Dvd live from Chicago. It's amazing!
Actually I think the next step would be indentured servitude, then slavery.
Unfortunately, I have no problem believing this. Was this part of Paul Weyrich's plan when he told the "religious" gathering(s) about "goo goo" government, and voter suppression? Was this part of the plan when Jude Wanniski advanced his two Santa Claus theory? Most likely, not. The right wingers got to this point the same way atrocities have happened throughout history. Small steps and advances to their incidious agenda. The hindrance/obstruction of ACORN. The rise of the Tea (Gag) Party. Requiring voter ID, in some states. Et cetera. Just a few examples.
At each little "victory," they look for the next increment of the long war. If it continues, slavery will return. The stocks, public flogging, the guillotine. All this, and more, will be back. Will it happen overnight? No. Probably not even during most of our lifetimes. But the small steps have begun.
If we don't ACT to stop it NOW... WHO WILL?
