When the bill first passed I remember hearing that it could not be repealed no matter what "they" tried. Frightening to think Obama's Supreme Court could override it but yet still...did he leave this door opened for Republican Repeal? Seems to be siding with them all along.
Can the people override the decision of the Supreme Court if we rally against it? Is there anything we could do as a people to stop this? This is so scary- we are being taken over by corporate. When will they think they have enough? They have already destroyed our planet. Do they want us groveling in the dust too?
Haven't we been through this arguement before? And didn't we wonder how this mandate could be unconstitutional when the mandate to buy auto insurance is not unconstitutional?

You do support the WRONG man as President. You also sound like a DLC Republocrat because you aren't making an intelligent argument nor are you addressing any of the facts that I've documented. According to Dr. King you qualify because all you are doing is "judging a man by color of his skin and not the content of his character." 'Can't have it both ways. BTW, Obama is also white by race or did you miss that too? You can blame the whole thing on the white part. That is fine with me. Only I'm not Anglo. I am only second generation American, and I am an ethnic Slavic. You know what Slavic means? It means "slave." In case you missed it, we lost forty million people in a thing called World War Two. Another great "compromiser," Neville Chamberlin did us in.
What next? Are you going to tell me that Clarence Thomas is a great Supreme Court Justice just because he has dark skin? Care to quote the Rev. Jesse Jackson on Obama? He said a whole lot worse about Obama than I've ever heard. Is he a racist too? And how do you explain Obama's support for Joe Lieberman against his own Party before he was supposedly doing the shoveling you refer to? Or can you explain why he appointed Larry "Goldman Sachs" Summers to head his Council of Economic Advisers? This is the same Larry Summers who as President of Harvard fired Cornell West and wanted to destroy the Black Studies program at Harvard and then campaigned for the same thing throughout the Ivy League. Got an explanation for that? If Obama is being forced to do all this then he isn't his own man. Either way we loose.
By the way you don't know my story. Do you believe that only black people suffer prejudice, inequality, and oppression? Just like a Republocrat, go ahead and support a guy who is working for your oppressers! And, you missed the part where I worked in the public policy arena for thirty years. Apparently you have a reading comprehension problem also. Obama is a total sellout and you know it. It just pisses you off to admit it so you have to turn against the people telling the truth. The most "audacious" thing I ever saw Obama do was to ungraciously rip an elderly black woman on national TV for saying that "she was disappointed in him." Nice guy, eh? I hope they target Socialist Insecurity too. It's a Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme. It takes 12.4 percent of each workers payroll. It pays back 1/2 to 2/3rd LESS than municipal and government pensions for the same wage rate. It's entire surplus from the last tax hike in the 1980s has been stolen to pay for "other things". It has 15 Trillion in unfunded liabilities. In the 1970s disability insurance was added to it, in the 1990s alcoholics and drug addicts who were now limited to 5 years lifetime welfare were converted by do gooder organizations to SSDI. During the same time frame the Clinton administration allowed hundreds of thousands, if not millions of foreigners who had never paid into the system to come into the country and collect from it. SSA counts 675,000 non citizen foreigners collecting roughly $800 each month from a system they had never paid into. This number doesn't count those who became citizens. Medicare is busted broke too. Thanks to Obamacare and another 10% cut, It pays on average 21 percent less than private health insurance and it's unfunded liability is over 77 Trillion. The government is like a crack addict who promises it will be better and different the next time. Gee will it really, is there a tooth fairy too!!!

So, Thom, your quote of Thomas Jefferson included something about each branch of government having checks on the others. What is the judiciary's check on the legislative, if not judicial review?
Jefferson also says that each branch can interpret the Constitution for itself. Well, the Supreme Court did that with Marbury v. Madison. So what's the problem?

I agree with you, Thom - if the supreme court strikes down Obamacare, the president should fight for Medicare Pt. E! I sincerely wish that would happen, but it doesn't seem like President Obama is strong enough to do that.
If this country reverses healthcare and starts on Social Security - or even before that - Why don't the people take to the streets as in Egypt? It seems like it's working for them! Why are the people in this country so content to just be entertained and fed? You talk about becoming involved with the local Democratic Party. I have - I'm on the board of directors - I am too left for them - the Chair and other board members are middle of the road in my opinion. They follow whatever the Party tells them without question. . It's hard when this is the case. I've emailed PDA to ask about meetings and trainings, but never received a response. I also have $5.00 automatically contributed to them every month. My last name is Koch, but I'm in no way related to the Koch Bros. Many other Dems ask me about this. However, I am a low income person - wish I had more money - I would never become a repub if I did.

Here's a law from 1792 where the Federal government required citizens to buy products from private business: The Militia Act of 1792
"That each and every free able-bodied white male citizen of the respective states, resident therein, ... shall, within six months thereafter, provide himself with a good musket or firelock, a sufficient bayonet and belt, two spare flints, and a knapsack, a pouch with a box therein to contain not less than twenty-four cartridges, suited to the bore of his musket or firelock, each cartridge to contain a proper quantity of powder and ball: or with a good rifle, knapsack, shot-pouch and powder-horn, twenty balls suited to the bore of his rifle, and a quarter of a pound of powder."
Paul Fell who can be founnd at www.paulfell.com doesn't call health care reform Obamacare but he calls it the Afordable Care Act or ACA. I think it is an excellent idea. Paul is Nebraska's cartoonist and he and his co-workers put out Monday through Friday a couple of cartoons and an opinion on events happening in America and the world

Congressman Issa, You have got to be kidding or insane about your childish & personal agenda to spend our time and our resources on the kind of senseless application of same to your self sustaining policy of investigation in the name of We The People of this America. You are by all implications a thief, and at least a self serving obstructionist to the matters of The People at hand. Insomuch as you were elected, due in good part to your own monetary resources as well as those of a handful (in comparison) of jackals and ignorant voters, I give you no credit for being in your position. Where is your shame and where is the dignity that you should be espousing as a member of the US Senate? You are a disgrace to America and its Sons and Daughters. Your latest "FOIA" Agenda serves no good purpose - is that all you can bring to the table? I ask that you resign immediately and allow for real debate and discussions to take place in your stead on behalf of America. You make yourself a Fool - sit in a quiet room and tune into your conscience, it will tell you the same thing I have, then maybe you can make something productive out of your life again on behalf of your fellow citizens and on a smaller scale.
Is there a reason we need to hear from Kitty Kelly about Oprah? Don't rightly care about whatever skeleton Oprah has in her closet - unless it has to do with the case of the meat industry suing her.
What makes the proponents of vouchers for medicaid or medicare patients think that private insurance companies will even sell policies to these folks? In the case of medicare, I once read that an individual Blue Cross policy for a 65-year-old is $5000/month. If that's accurate, those vouchers would have to be pretty damn generous. As we hit our 70's and 80's, insurance companies will be less willing to sell a policy at any price. It would be no different for a medicaid recipient with major health problems. If these people are denied policies or can't afford them, society is still going to end up footing the bill so what's the difference.

The simple fact that emergency rooms treat anybody, with Ins. or without Ins. since that is the moral thing not to mention so-called Christian value. So how is it fair for a person not to have Health Ins. to get service when needed and who's costs get charged to those who have Health Ins? Is that being Self Responsible that the Republicans keep screaming about when it comes to Mortgages? I know maybe people in need should go to that Republican Church on "E: street and ask those make believe Christians who live there TAX FREE by the names of Sen Jim Dementia, Sen John Ensign and Sen. David Vitter for charity. Are we sure its a church or is it a private strip club? Hum.

The principle of judicial review comes from the Seventh Amendment: "...no fact tried by a jury shall be otherwise re-examined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law." This allows a court to decide not to enforce a law. A supreme court decision doesn't remove a law from the U.S. Code, it simply orders itself and lower courts not to enforce it, on the grounds that higher law contradicts it. There is no purpose for a hierarchy of courts, except for judicial review.

Abortion
My doctrine remembers Jesus’ Words, “Be not afraid.” This post will upset many people but at times certain words must be said.
Abortion should have never been a governmental and a political issue. It should have been a medical and a religious issue. Whenever the government and politics are involved, you can be certain that the government and politics will screw it up. Removing government and politics from the abortion issue will remove a wedge issue. Roe v Wade will be overturned.
Women have had abortions for many reasons through the years. Some women do not have medical insurance and they have felt that they could not pay for the birth of a baby or even take care of a baby. Yet, there are many reasons for abortions.
Let us look at the removal of this wedge issue. Will people complain and groan or will people push for health care? Where will our Nazi politicians and government stand when it comes to health care? What other issues will become wedge issues so the Nazis can remain in power? If people oppose abortions that is fine and good but for a woman to have a child she will need some health care. The cost of medical care prohibits a number of people from wanting children, especially if there is no health insurance.
Be not afraid with the overturn of Roe v Wade! Let us pursue a caring America that is concerned for all our citizens and not just for the wealthy and for our corporations. Personally the Nazis will find reasons and ways to not help women. The American government under the control of the Nazis is an evil government.
Will the churches and fundamentalists and the evangelicals try to help women by pushing for health care or will they just be political ideologues? I believe that our Christian churches and laypersons are political ideologues and they will use moral issues to gain power and keep Americans angry, confused, and fearful. We are only pawns and puppets for governmental and political abuses. Moral issues should be delegated to religion and possibly in some cases to the medical professionals.
Please do all you can to not be afraid of change! Change is inevitable in life. Change can remove us from our comfort zones but I will say, “Be not afraid.” Seek a greater good from our government and politicians’ dastardly ways!
Where are the pro-lifers when it comes to health care and medical insurance for women and children? Health benefits would make abortion less of an option. Hypocrisy reigns in this country. Overturning Roe v Wade could very well be a plus and not a minus, especially if Americans push for better and more day care centers and better wages so that our citizens are not living like scurvy rats.
Corporations and the American government do not want Roe v Wade overturned. Even if it is overturned, there will still be abortions and they will not be illegal. Abortions will rest with a physicians’ decision. Please do not become discombobulated with the overturning of Roe v Wade. We will know who are the hypocrites in this country?
Be not afraid! Have pro-life organizations stressed health care for women so pregnancy can come to full term? Have they stressed increased funding for adoption services so women who cannot keep their baby for whatever reason will have the option to have the baby adopted? Have they stressed funding for child care centers for women who want to keep the baby will have a place to help them as they work or try to find work? There are many questions to be answered but the major question is, do the pro-lifers really love people, really love women, and really love children? It is time for the pro-lifers to either shit or get off the pot! Are pro-life organizations only money-grabbing hypocrites?
Supreme Court justices just do not rule on abortions. They also rule in favor of corporate fraud and greed and the removal of our freedoms and rights for the common person. Always remember that the Nazi Party are not pro-lifers! They are purveyors of hatred, murders, torture, and wars.

Come, I have prepared a place for you.” With these beautiful words we will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven for all eternity.
WHETHER ROE V WADE IS OVERTURNED OR NOT, THE ABORTION ISSUE WILL NEVER GO AWAY BECAUSE IT IS A MONEY MAKER FOR VARIOUS GROUPS AND IT IS A WIN WEDGE ISSUE FOR THE GOP.
