  • Does Sarah Palin bear any responsibilty for the Tucson shooting?   14 years 23 weeks ago

It is time to stop with the hate talk on both sides. Jared Loughner was a registered Republican. He was unstable. Hate talk with gun references do not sit well with the unstable.

  • Does Sarah Palin bear any responsibilty for the Tucson shooting?   14 years 23 weeks ago

While it is iresponsible to advocate violence, the decision of the person who fires the gun is the decision that matters. Responsibility always rests with the person who makes that decision, with the person who acts, not the people who talk about politics or who advocate violence. My mom always said "would you jump off the bridge if your friend said to?" The answer is no. Thus, society must not be formed around laws that limit everyone, just because some individual might commit violence. The reason being, that no matter how many rules we have as a society, there are going to be people who ignore them.

  • Are the Republicans engaged in a form of terrorism by attempting to repeal healthcare reform while 50 million are uninsured?   14 years 23 weeks ago

Absolutely false. If you are with out insurance because of pre existing conditions or the cost is too high and you can't afford it and your job doesn't cover it, or you are self employed you DO NOT have health care. Because you do not have access. Only if you are dying, or you elect to die at home. That is why depression is rampant and it is really difficult to take care of yourself when you are that depressed. My sister died of breast cancer at age 59 because of our stinking health care system.

  • Are the Republicans engaged in a form of terrorism by attempting to repeal healthcare reform while 50 million are uninsured?   14 years 23 weeks ago

Republican hypocrisy is so rampant as to be tsunami of hypocrisy. They are the "pro" life party and yet 45,000 Americans die every year from lack of access to health care. I'm one of those 50 million without insurance because of a preexisting condition. Unfortunately the part that will help me is 3 years away. Medicare is 5 years away. Without the extra help that community clinics are receiving because of the health care bill, I'd be totally up shit crik without a paddle. Our health care crisis is a moral outrage and those "right to lifers" are "right to die ers".

The judge who was killed in Arizona went to meet with Rep. Giffords and thank her for helping him with some kind of legislation. The nine year old girl went to the rally because she had a great interest in politics. These killings were senseless. Please my fellow Americans can you now reconize the madness that has taken hold of us? We are a country that has gone completely mad. Why are the vast majority of Americans so insane?

    To be an American Reicher!

To be Republican is to have no inner core, no guiding principles, no ethics, no integrity and no basic philosophy (except tax cuts) no intent other than win at all costs.

They do not care about the people, jobs lost, mortgages foreclosed or the jobless losing their unemployment benefits.

Republicans are interested only in winning regardless of how it is done. Whatever methods, no matter how unscrupulous or duplicitous, whatever strategy for the moment is employed, defeat of the opposition is all that matters.

    Transparency

We keep hearing why aren’t America and Obama more transparent? The truth is that our nation has been transparent since George Washington. We are an evil, vile, and wicked nation. The world can see through us and our dastardly ways.

Psychiatrists cannot openly certify our nation. But, they know according to psychiatric guidelines that we are a nation of certifiably psychos.

    Homily, January 8-9, 2011

This weekend was Jesus’ baptism and to reveal to us His forgiveness of sins. With baptism the Holy Spirit is upon us and our forgiveness of sins. With our baptism we become children of God. Jesus was a king who was a servant. Jesus came upon the earth to be of service to us. In baptism we become prophets, priests, and kings (and queens). As human beings we have more that unites us and not divides us as part of the mystical bodies of Jesus Christ. If seventy percent of the country is Christian why should we hate our brothers and sisters?

In baptism the godparents are asked a question for the new born baby, “Do you renounce Satan and the response is I do.” Godparents are asked a second time, “Do you renounce Satan and all his works and the response is I do.”

We have Christians renouncing Satan as an infant but as an adult we are embedded with Satan and all his evil work.

The priest at the homily said that we should not be quick to react against God’s children. We should give in for now, let people be, and take it easy. With these words in mind we may be able to avoid more wars.

It's probably a long way off but governments need to get a handle on corporations. I'm more hopeful that Latin American countries will take the lead on this issue. We need to have a 3 strike policy relative to corporate malfeasance. Strike 3 and there goes your charter. Go ahead, stay in business without the socialist protection of limited liability. You then can truly call yourself a "private" business at that point. Move to Amend!!! Thom's book Unnatural Protection should be required reading in High School American History classes.

BP said they were responsible and they said they were going to pay to get things right. They have been paying and they are still paying. BP is not a new ATM for businesses, municipalities, governments, etc to attack and drain. You cannot calculate the damages yet because they are not finished cleaning things up. I understand how BP is very cautious about making some payments because of the fraud factor. For those who are inpatient, what would you have done if this was a huge hurricane or earthquake? A disaster is a disaster. That is why you have insurance.

  • Are the Republicans engaged in a form of terrorism by attempting to repeal healthcare reform while 50 million are uninsured?   14 years 24 weeks ago

Everyone has healthcare. Not everyone has the same level of healthcare. If you want more, you must pay more. The question is who has to make the payments. There is no free lunch. Also, be careful about the overuse and misuse of the word terrorism.

    American Reichers

We are a nation of American Reichers. These are members of the American Fourth Reich, the most evil, vile, and wicked nation on the face of our planet. The Fourth Reich has Satan’s disciples leading our demise.

We are horrified to read of Hitler’s killing of eleven million people and Stalin’s killing of twenty-nine million human beings. But, in our country the American Reichers’ plan is to eliminate six point three billion human beings. But, our Reichwing rags never mention our dastardly plans for the killing and enslavement of human beings.

The American government has lunatics running our asylums. These lunatics are embedded with the American rich who control the Reichers Party. We have the fascist-Nazi American minions, aka Satan’s disciples, doing the dirty work. Nothing will ever change in a country that is swimming in a pool of mortal sin.

The fourth branch of the American government that is closely aligned with the American Fourth Reich is our Reichwing rags!

Frank Luntz is a brilliant American Reicher.

And, we wonder why our citizens are so cynical. The more that things change, the more that they remain the same. There is a mentality in our country that praises people who can get away with shell games, Ponzi schemes, and fraud. That is the American way!!! If our criminal American federal government would indict the CEO crooks in most of our corporations, white-collar crime would go down. Prosecuting Rummy, Cheney, W, and Rove for mass murders and war crimes would also be a step in the right direction.

    American Stupidity

I need start my comment on the fact that American stupidity has no limits. Americans have a mind set that we are the greatest people on planet, Earth. The truth is that Americans are the most stupid people in the world. We grow up under massive propaganda that every thing we do is what the world needs.

We keep hearing that more money will fix our schools and massive amounts of money poured into education are the answer. I say nonsense to this mind set. Let me give you the problems facing our educational systems. We have school administrators who are lazy and they do not function as change agent to improve the teaching-learning situation. Classroom teachers teach to the standardized tests to leave the impression that their students are learning. American parents spoil their children. Their child can do no wrong and they are as bright as the sunlight. A babied school population leads to stupid children.

I read six articles from CEOs. Three CEOs were American and three CEOs were from foreign countries. Each CEO has said that they preferred hiring a foreign educated student over an American educated student. The reasons are better work habits and better problem-solving skills.

Our son works with a German national. I do not know whether or not he is studying to be an American citizen or not. This German educated has a working knowledge of eight languages – German, English, French, Italian, Swiss, Dutch, Polish, and the Czech Republic. The American mind set does not value foreign languages. This German national has had exposure to different cultures.

More money for American education does not mean we will have a better educated student. People who hire a person are well aware of the benefits of hiring a foreign educated student.

As a non-lawyer, non-politician: The starting point would be to hold BP as lying to federal agencies and hold individuals to the full extent of the law, based on their knowing and they should have known [universal engineering standard], plus criminal actions of neglect [even indifference to licensed responsibility]. Convict the officers of the corporation as committing environmental terrorist actions. Let them then fight with sub contractors as to pointing out their share of a world record costs with no dollar limit [equal to the national debt?] for the destruction and endangerments of public safety, and the fiduciary responsibility. Then jail the upper level directors and officers of all the companies involved as perpetrating criminal acts.

But that is just my two cents.

  • The rich and powerful rarely answer for their crimes....   14 years 24 weeks ago

Make BP pay. Since BP was the lead, they should be held responsible. Let them be the ones to go after Hallburton and the others. BP should pay.

I am troubled that the R's in Congress spit out the word "entitlement" as if they don't have any! Just look at the number of things they feel "entitled" to (beginning with their super-generous health care coverage provided by the taxpayers). What portion of the cost do they contribute to their health care? Do we know? Most of us have a deduction from our paychecks that goes toward our employer's cost for providing healthcare coverage. Poor people aren't the only ones who benefit from "entitlements". I, personally, feel that tax credits for the uber-weathly are an "entitlement". An entitlement is a benefit that is unearned, right? I don't think that just because a peson is able to purchase favorable legislation that a benefit has been "earned". I don't understand how the R's in Congress feel that Medicaid, Social Security Disability, Food Stamps, and unemployment beneifts are "unearned" by the working poor, or the disadvantaged/disabled citizens of this nation. Just don't get it.

This Land is Your Land, everyone. All parties to the environmental impact permits required by federal and state laws are required to be held responsible for mitigating millions of acres of environmental damage. This should be stated in the original permit conditions for the wetlands impacts awarded BP by each Department with jurisdiction.

The state and federal environmental permitting agencies governing the impacted areas of the Gulf region are employed to maintain federal and state laws for environmental protection. They are the PERMITTERS, the Land's Parent-protectors, for all activities which impact wetlands. Their files on BP et al. should be investigated with a fine toothed comb.

Supposedly, in their files, proposed impacts have been stated on an amount of pages comprising a metropolitan area phonebook, according to a phonebook of "rules of proposal format" as issued by The Department. The plans are then subjected to rigorous examination by Department engineers, hydrologists, ecologists, chemists, and geologists, provided the Permit Fees have been paid, and after so many days, approval is given and work may commence. Other fees are charged for The Department to monitor sites of permit activity, and permitees are required to file with The Department, quarterly monitoring reports of their own which must contain numerous tables of measurements and graphed technical data to be analyzed by The Department and found to be in compliance with the conditions of the permit.

Permit modifications are subjected to the same process, except with extra-scrutiny in the event the permitee is trying to go around the rules or previous agreements.

Local Departments enjoy the power of stalling a developer or getting privileged characters through the gate immediately. In my territory, we actually call them "the gatekeepers." That is the way the everglades and gold coasts have been worked since 1917, the year the Florida legislature passed a law mandating the draining of the everglades with taxpayer money, a necessary step in Florida's becoming America's "breadbasket of the future."

Payment is owed to the public now in mitigation for the number of wetland acres which have been impacted by BP. These are the terms of dredge and fill permits. Generally mitigation designates multiple acres be restored per one acre disturbed.

Mitigation for wetland impacts is typically performed by creating new wetlands, and or restoring existing disturbed wetlands. The mitigation plan itself will have to be approved by The Department. Permit terms call for long range success in mitigation projects, which have to be maintained and monitored with quarterly reports delivered to The Department.

Failure to perform or fulfill mitigation results in Enforcement Action by The Department with fines per day which would reach almost up to infinity for an impact as large as that of BP.
