Is it follow the money or follow the debt ? I'm confused. The GOP caters to the rich but the wealth is supported by the debt. Palin or Palin's ilk have a fix for this ? ! USA with a for sale sign ? Free Market Economy I suppose.

  • Cash for Geezers? Lower the Retirement Age to 55 Now!   14 years 34 weeks ago

Given your logic, why not give everyone on Social Security $100,000 each, let people retire at 40, give everyone 10 weeks of vacation and reduce the work week to 4 days a week and 5 hours a day? Wouldn't that help even more?

DeFazio's Billionaire attack machine - speculation about why he's doing it?

Thom wondered what the billionaire's motivation is who is funding DeFazio's opponent and attacking Peter DeFazio. Just speculating ...Perhaps he's been a participant at the Koch brothers Republican billionaire's forum and going after DeFazio is HIS action item to fulfill on their strategy!

Peter DeFazio is truly a great progressive and public servant of the people of Oregon and America. Going over to his website to give some money right now.

I'm sure that the prosecution of Cheney, Bush, et al would go a very long way to improve our image throughout the world.

We keep scratching our heads about why the Democratic messaging, and specifically the White House messaging about how much has been accomplished in less than two years, is SO BAD! Here's some insight provided by the White House! Cenk Uyger (as guest host) interviewed David Axelrod on Countdown with Keith Olbermann on October 19. Cenk asked him directly about why the messaging is SO BAD. Over and over, Axelrod "schooled" Cenk that it's not about TAKING CREDIT!! It was like the value of being humble is more important than the concept that communicating accomplishments to citizens gets you more capital to take on and accomplish more. I couldn't believe it! It looks like he really BELIEVES that the criticism about their poor messaging is misplaced criticism... "Cenk, it's not about taking credit!" Geez! Here's the link to the video:

What's going on in America? Manufacturing is going off shore, labor proceeds capital, and when labor is lacking so does capital.

I'll vote for democratic candidates, even more importantly I will vote. What really pisses me off though is I can't vote with Instant Runoff Voting, so I can put my first choice as a candidate I support, but won't win and my second choice as a candidate I don't wholly support but is better off as the winner than a Republican't.

Mind the votes and civil liberties will follow.

    Nothing Ever Changes

Around 2002 I began to feel more comfortable in the use of the internet. I am not a whiz with the computer but I do have the basic skills. I would frequently comment on W and his lowlife policies and practices. When he did not declare martial law to remain in office, I felt relief. A lowlife was leaving the WH. I voted for Obama and I had great hope for him and our country. When Obama was in office for about three months, I knew that he was a failed Grand Experiment. I am now commenting more frequently about Obama and our country. I must admit that nothing ever changes. I believe that the Nobel Peace Prize Committee has disgraced itself by awarding Obama the Nobel Peace Prize. Like W I consider Obama, a mass murderer.

I will try to enjoy my remaining days by commenting less because America’s policies and practices will never change. I do not want to keep beating my head against a brick wall. America will continue to wallow in the abyss of hell. We are a nation that does not adhere to the Golden Rule.

    Civil Commitment

I was watching “Law and Order Special Victims Unit” on October 21, 2010. The program centered on a child molester who did his time. He moves into a neighborhood and there is a child who is molested and murdered. The neighbors find out that the child molester lives in their area. He is automatically judged as the murderer but he is innocent.

The State Attorney General uses this man as the murderer even before the real killers are found. He wanted the State to pass a Civil Commitment Law where the State Psychiatrist can evaluate and rule the he will always be a child molester. The law would place the person in jail for the rest of his life. Will this law apply to other crimes, such as you steal bread to feed your family and the State Psychiatrist will evaluate you and you will always steal and so you are sent to prison for the rest of your life.

The community has the rights under this law but the individual has no rights. People this civil commitment concept will be law in the near future. With one offense you can be imprisoned for the rest of your life. Now, that concept is the real American dream.

This case reminds me of the United States Military Service using their psychiatrists to determine PTSD. They can say that a soldier does not meet the criteria for PTSD and so our government will not have to pay for medical care and other benefits, such as disability pay. People, we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg. Americans will soon lose all their freedoms and rights. Now, this is the American dream and way.

  • Get ready for President Palin   14 years 34 weeks ago

Thom, I am glad to see that you are on the ball on this deal. The only thing you got wrong is President Palin. No, I am afraid that if and when she assumes power, she will be Der Fuhrer Palin, with absolute power. I have been following these nutjobs on line for the better part of the last five years, and I can tell you that in the chat rooms when they let their hair down, they don't even try to hide their real agenda. These people either belong to the Aryan Nation/Nazi Party or are closely alligned with them and make no bones about it. They want to wipe out the immigrants, the jews, the gays and the trade unionists, and anyone that is standing with them. When they say take our country back, 'they' means white people, and 'take back' means eliminating anyone in their way. They want to see the streets run red with liberal blood. If I had a dollar every time I have seen that line posted, I'd be pretty darn wealthy.

What we are experiencing RIGHT NOW, is the period in Nazi Germany when everyone said someone should do something and nobody did, so the Gestapo came for each group one at a time and wiped them out one at a time. Nobody back then thought it could happen either, but they were wrong because these people have no limits. They are sociopaths of the highest order, and they will do whatever Glenn Beck or Palin tell them to do.

    Time to French-up

It's time for the American workers to take to the streets, or in Tea Party parlance: French-up to show the oligarchs that we can no longer suffer losing the class warfare that has been waged since Reagan began it in the 80s. The percentage of wealth accumulated by the top 2% to 5% has outpaced the wealth and wages accumulated by the remaining population by a significant amount. Don't be afraid to call it what it is; CLASS WARFARE, and we are losing!
