Thank you Thom for making your Christian guest admit he would not renounce the violent words in the Bible (all the while insisting that no Muslim would renounce any of the violence in the Koran).

I think true believer (and moderate/liberal) Christians and Muslims absolutely renounce the violent parts of their religious books, but mostly by ignoring it because it's embarrassing.

If you have questions about what led up to 9-11 and how it was planned, please watch the video "LooseChange.com 9-11 Second Edition" by Dylan Avery, Korey Rowe, and Jason Bermas. This is a documentary which includes original live footage from Fox, CNN, NBC, CSPAN, and Camera Planet which have been cut from the Final Edition because they did not have permission to use them. This video is an eye opener. It is a bit dry a first as it sets up the foundation for the 9-11 attack.

After watching this video, it is very difficult to accept the "story" we have been told. Were the buildings imploded? How could the windows remain intact at the Pentagon? How could a jetliner go through 9 feet of steel reinforced concrete? There are many more questions raised. Who had the most to gain? What happened to the gold? Why did Tower 7 fall? What about the huge increase in put options on American and United Airlines prior to the 9-11 disaster?.

Paste the following into your URL or google LooseChange.com 9-11 Second Edition

    Length 89 minutes

    Something worthwhile

I listen to a lot of old time radio on Sirius, since the writing on television is so poor. I recently heard a show commemorating Labor Day titled "Samuel Gompers - Countdown for a Champ." This was part of the 13-program American Gallery series of biolgraphies. Very well done with a great cast and excellent production values It was made, I believe, in the 1960's and carried on Armed forces Radio.

It's probably available on a lot of CD collections offered for sale by many parties.

The Party of the Rich -

    Thom,

I learn so much from your show and value it greatly, but today in your segment with Jim Hightower you said something I can not believe. Yes, the railroad barons bought the GOP during the Grant and Hayes Administrations, but they have not simply been the party of the rich since then. Theodore Roosevelt is arguably the greatest president in our history and brought progressive change in great doses, and would have done so in a third term four years later had the stalwarts not excommunicated him. President Eisenhower and Robert LaFollette are other great examples, as is Nixon, who despite all of his faults, was probably lest of an economic royalist than Barack Obama. Yes, these are not enough to remove validity from the statement generally, but not all Republicans, at least before the 1994 "revolution," were simply shills for the plutocracy.

    Just turn off the infotainment?

You and I can turn it off and it still does not solve the problem: many people do watch it and it is having a hugely negative impact on democratic processes. I'd like to see a return the "Fairness Doctrine" and to undo some of the changes of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 as well as some of the other changes over the years which have lead to monopolistic control of media outlets. But even that would be hard, since Re-regulation in the terminology of this new-right to be a socialistic invasion of our freedom. Lets take our country back! Yeah, but from whom? How about taking it back from Rupert Murdoch and the likes.

Regarding Fighting Bob Fest - It's high time for a history lesson on the progressive era. I think Ken Burns should do a series on this history or someone should make a movie on the life of Sen. Bob LaFollette (Sean Penn would be good in the title role). Do you have connections to get a project like this off the ground, Thom? Think about it this weekend. Lots of parallels between the times that gave birth to the Progressive Movement and our time. John Dos Passos's portrait of Fighting Bob in "The 42nd Parallel" is a good place to start to get a feeling for what "Fighting Bob" was all about.

My response to the Quran burning has spread like wild fire! I'm getting reporters calling me. I just talked with Bill Cooper from KNX 1070 in Los Angeles and KFI called me yesterday. I did an interview with BBC in Arabic too. I was invited to join the "Women in Black" at their vigil Saturday, 1:30pm meeting at the clock tower at Farmers' Market, 3rd & Fairfax in Los Angeles. I'll be there and apparently so will the news media.

This is very nervewracking! I've always been the one cheering from the sidelines but I had an idea that went viral and now I'm gettting all this attention. This is way out of my comfort zone but by the positive response I've received, it feels like the right thing to do. Just one positive symbolic gesture to counter a hateflul one.

    Here is the event page:
People of all faiths to wear Hijab or Kufi on September 11th
    http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=109407399115470
As a protest against persecution of Muslims we pledge to show that not all Americans are bigots. We will adorn ourselves with symbols of the Islamic faith on an infamous date that is falsely blamed on Muslims. We are calling on people of all faiths, or no faith, to join us and to prove that Muslims are people of peace and NOT our enemies.

Here is the link for the Facebook group:
Wear Hijab on 9/11, Defy "Burn a Quran Day"
    http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=144913692209438
Join us! If you are also horrified by the recent outrageous fear mongering of the right wing against American Muslims then here is a way to push back. I am not a Muslim but I plan to wear the hijab on 9/11 as a gesture to American Muslims that they are full citizens of this country and deserve the same rights as the rest of us. Concerned men might wear skull caps in solidarity with us women.
Yes, it will take some courage to make this gesture. However, I remembered how the people in Billings, Montana put menorahs in their windows to protest the anti-Semitic activities of the KKK in their town. See http://www.facinghistory.org/explore/exhibit/stories/niot/read
Another wave of anti-Semitism is sweeping our nation, this time against Muslims. Let's stand up and stand out to demonstrate that not all Americans are bigots.
I hope you'll join me in making this gesture. I feel that it demonstrates true American values as written in our Constitution.
    Peace, Shalom, Salaam,
    ~ Charell

Book burning is as American as apple pie. Has everyone forgotten about the case of Wilhelm Reich. In 1947, 2 years after the end of WWII where Hitler, the Nazi leader, burned books in huge public book burnings, Reich, a refugee from Hitler, a psychotherapist and contemporary and co-therapist of Freud, was investigated, arrested by the FBI, tried and thrown in Federal prison for his written works on free human sexuality, where he died. All extant works of his remaining in the USA were ordered destroyed. Reich's works were subsequently banned in this country from about 1947 until the mid-70s. Yeah, home of the free and the brave.

On Clinton vs W wrt bin Laden

Hi. I tried to post this yesterday but am a rookie.

The point: Clinton was fairly osessed with al Quaeda, actively tried to counter them- to the point of having a program to track and kill Osama. Bush- not so much; had other priorities. Barton Gellman of WaPost did series of articles early 2002- damning stuff that got no play and still doesn't. The pivot for this was the transition Berger trying to handoff to Rice- told no, thenkyew. I think that this real and perceived vulnerability for W led to the discrediting and neutralizing of Berger wrt National Archives theft. yet another story for another day.

Best summary is Gellman's interview with Fresh Air Share.

Journalist Barton Gellman. Listen. Fresh Air from WHYY. ... 11. Gellman wrote a two-part series about it that ran in the Post Dec. 19 and 20, 2001. ... http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=1136855

We have Freedom of Speech, as long as we don't say anything disturbing? We are innocent until proven guilty, unless we're actually suspected of committing a crime. We are all created equal, but Corporations have human rights, without human penalties. We have the right to assemble peaceably in designated "Free Speech Zones".

GOD DAMN IT! DAMN IT! DAMN IT!!! IT HAS TO BE TESTED AND CHALLENGED, WE HAVE TO ALLOW THE UGLY IF WE WANT THE BEAUTIFUL. ITS QUITE SIMPLE, FREEDOM IS ALL OR NOTHING. YOU CAN'T CHIP AT IT, AND CALL IT THE SAME THING.

It is better for a thousand guilty men to walk free, than to allow one innocent man to be locked up. A fair society, protects the weakest of its citizens, its what our forefathers wanted their government to be.

Stop knocking holes in the bottom of a leaky boat to let the water out, it doesn't work that way!

Richard Greene agrees with Pat Buchanan that Obama will score points if, in his capacity as commander-in-chief, he steps in to stop the Quran burning--and that it will be upheld by our right-wing-led Supreme Court. Great! Let's do it. But why stop at ceding free speech rights? Let's give up freedom of religion. Let's give up all privacy. Let's give up our protection against self-incrimination. In other words, giving up our free speech rights will give us electoral wins. Will who wouldn't be for that? Heck, let's just stop being liberals and cede everything to the conservatives. The John Roberts court will then back everything we do!

    Jesus on the Family

Information on this document comes from Dr. Teresa Whitehurst’s website, jesusonthefamily.com.

In one of the articles Glen Stassen was mentioned. He is a Lutheran minister who gave a talk to people. He said that at one time Southern Baptist students in a seminary were instructed in compassionate religion. Today, students are the new KGB of authoritarian religion. They are like the secret police of the 21st century.

It is important for people to speak the truth. Apparently the new ministers pick and choose parts of the Bible that suits their agenda. God is stressed because God is viewed as an authoritarian figure. He is someone who punishes and He is vengeful. Jesus is looked upon as someone who is compassionate and merciful. The new religion wants the people to view God not as compassionate but as a punishing God. They want an authoritative God because their religion is authoritarian. These ministers hold authority and you will believe what they say or you will be an outcast and punished by God. You are to believe in a punishing God and not a compassionate God.

The Crucifixion of Jesus is an example of a liberal Jesus and a progressive role model.

    The Crucifixion of Jesus

The crucifixion of Jesus was an act of terrorism and it was meant to deter would-be resisters to the Roman authority of Palestine or those who would oppose the authority of the Roman-controlled Temple Chief Priest and the religious ruling class. The Romans meant for public crucifixion to terrorize the civilian population. All people witnessing a crucifixion or walking by a corpse on the cross understood that if they stepped out of line, they too could be executed.

What did Jesus of Nazareth do in His beautiful liberal language? He called out, “FATHER FORGIVE THEM FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO.”

Yes, Jesus is the role model of liberals because He has bestowed upon liberals three characteristics that exemplify a liberal person and his value system and his way of life. These three characteristics are LOVE, MERCY, and FORGIVENESS.

At what point does invasion of privacy enter the realm of molestation and harassment?

I feel that where ever that point is, we as a country have long passed it.

"The fact that someone has the right to do something doesn't necessarily make it the right thing to do."

This is a very interesting quote from John Boehner of Ohio. So Mr. Boner, "Does Bush II have the right to start wrong and immoral wars make him right to start such wars?"

    The Jesus Party

Gerald’s comments are from his hideaway bunker deep inside enemy territory.

I am more convinced than ever that the United States of Mortal Sin needs a viable third party in 2012 and beyond. The Jesus Party platform would be the chapters and verses in the New Testament of the Holy Bible. Certain chapters and verses would be highlighted more than other chapters and verses, such as Jesus’ words, “When you do it for the least of my brethren, you do it for me.”

The Jesus Party would try to emulate the life of Jesus. A major focus would be on Jesus’ heart because His heart was filled with love, mercy, and forgiveness. As members of His party we want our hearts filled with love, mercy, and forgiveness. We would also remember the words of St. Ambrose, “I shall pass this way but once. Any good that I shall do let me do it now for I shall not pass this way again.” We will seek to live a life of Sacramental Moments where good deeds are a part of our daily lives.

With a life lived doing good deeds we will always be ready for the Last Judgment. When we die, we will feel Jesus’ embrace and we will also hear His soft words, “WELCOME HOME MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL FRIEND! COME I HAVE PREPARED A PLACE FOR YOU.”

With those words we will be with Jesus and the other communion of saints in heaven for all eternity. The Jesus Party membership is choosing eternal life. You are invited to be a Jesus Party member.
