(Note, I say his "actions", because his rhetoric is swell; it's those Bushlike actions that I will not allow to pass without highlighting them.)
I am not a conservative. I guess I consider myself a lefty idealist progressive. I'd like to see the two-party system replaced with a system that permits a plurality of views and forbids profiteers from financing politicians. I want this nation to get out of the deathgrip of these bought and paid for politicians.
Therefore, I cut slack for neither Bush nor Obama. (I wish I had a nickel for everytime I posted rant-y items on Bush and examples of his sociopathic behavior as part of a sociopathic family, sociopathic secret society (Skull&Bones), and sociopathic enclave hidden in our government's bureaucracy ever since the Bushes got a toehold via J.P. Morgan railroad scams and via the War Industries Board during World War I.)
I consider myself an Abolitionist of Political Exploitation by Corporations, since it IS a form of Slavery.

I don't think this new name refers to harnessing tidal movement.
So, I think this new name is a bad sign indicating that if the Profiteers want to exploit the oceans for oil, they'll do it all they want. (Just like BP is doing now.)
@rladlof, I hear you, we're paying more and getting less.
I'm expecting that we're going to get looowww voter turn out for the next several years. The Democratic Party didn't get it when Bush was able to walk away with the PResidency in 2000, that fact of the matter was, most of the electorate didn't care who won and didn't show up, history is going to repeat either in 2012, or 2016.
Lack of Health Care is one of those symptomatic issues that will precipitate this, especially when people start realizing that the "Health Reform" bill is nothing more than the Health Insurance companies being handed customers they can screw as they wish. We both live in California, I'm sure you know as I do, what the Insurance companies did with mandatory Car Insurance. "Sure we'll cover you if you have a pre-existing condition, we'll only charge you 5,000 a month, when you go bankrupt, perhaps you can get government assistance."

TOTALLY OFF TOPIC RANT: I am pissed off beyond all belief that Blue Shield of California is working fervently to deny his family access to their chosen doctors just because Blue Shield wants to ensure that their CEO/President gets a larger bonus . . . Again.
Blue Shield of California is cutting their reimbursement rates yet again in effort to bump up their profit margins and maintain executive bonuses. Their reimbursement rates are being cut so low that one of the largest medical providers and a widely acknowledged Excellence Center, Cedars-Sinai, can no longer operate if they accept the rate cuts.
SO After being with Cedars-Sinai Medical Group for over a DECADE . . . I can not see the doctor of my choice because they are sucking my healthcare dollars not for providing adequate healthcare BUT to guarantee their profit margin.
Talk about not getting the healthcare I want and need . . . Not by my choice.
I'm for the Second Amendment, too. I'm for every amendment. Heck, I'm for the entire Constitution. But I'm also for putting limits on gun ownership. The way I read the Second Amendment, it does not entitle every individual to own any arm. Otherwise, no one would be able to restrain people from planning to build bombs. They're just another form of arms, aren't they?
I'm getting awfully tired of people opposed to gun control skewing the debate to imply that those of us in favor of it are opposed to portions of our Constitution.

NEWARK — The president and chief executive officer of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey received $8.7 million in 2009 in compensation, a 59 percent increase from 2008, a report in the Asbury Park Press said.
And this is a legal "non-profit" company in NJ! If I were a tea bagger, I'd look at this and SHOUT, because B.C.B. Shield of NJ is the largest insurer in NJ, insuring both private and public secter members (police, fireman, teachers, politicians, etc.), meaning, IT IS PAID FOR BY MY TAX DOLLARS!
How is this any less offensive that those Wall Street thieves? This is why our health care system is broken.

I commend Portland's Mayor for promoting being able to walk to all of the retail and restaurants within 20 minutes. The only problem is I lived 10 minutes walk from Costco but if I bought anything I couldn't carry it home without a truck.

President Obama has come before the American people from the Oval Office and told us all he is in charge.
But now we see turtles are being burned alive on Obama's watch and by his authority which he is bestowing on BP.
And this comes on the scene shortly after Obama sides with those who desire and promote ENDING the 30 year ban on whaling. What does that say about Obama's attitudes about a healthy natural world??? (And Obama makes all these good fatherhood commercials! For shame!)

The decision may also affect missionaries going to these nations to preach the Word of God...but should punishing missionaires ONLY apply to countires who are on the terrorists nation list? Can we also apply this to the Jehovah Witness members who knock on our door 7 a.m. on Saturdays while we try to sleep in late?
The simple answer is MONEY! As has been said; "money doesn't talk, it screams". The question should be: How have the corporations convinced Americans that they are better off paying some corporate CEO millions or billions of dollars to deny them health care when they are most likely to most need it?
For a number of reasons, most people have a distrust or resentment of government and of course big corporations exploit this distrust to con the masses. With the help of the "liberal media" or "lamestream" media as the Republican neocons call it, which of course is far from liberal, but really nothing more than corporate newsletters shilling for multinational companies, they are able to influence the opinion of the American public and make them fear any alternative that they do not approve of or control.
I believe that most news media are no longer really operated for profit as their main goal but as corporate newsletters and by having Palin and Fox News (which is to journalism what professional wrestling is to sports) condemn them as liberal, is just part of the "opposite speak" strategy that is much of the Republicans game plan.
Free Market Conservatives who say the private sector knows best tell them to turn the TV on any news channel and look at the bottom corner video of the BP well. That's your private sector at work!
