Those that want the market to dictate issues, really are saying let money dictate the issue; if money is a root of all evil, then they are therefore saying let evil dictate the issue.
In the very least they are saying "let the bottom line decide the outcome", I think we all understand that when you do so, you come up with decisions that are not:
1 Enviormentaly conscientious
2 Humane
The market ultimately make the most selfish decisions, it is not wise to put decisions in the hands of an institution that ultimately is willing to destroy anything and everything for profit.
"Government isn't capable of regulating"? What? They sure are if they're allowed to do their jobs without corporate-owned legislators putting up obstacles every step of the way. Why is there such a notion that our government is so stupid that they can't find their way out of a paper bag? Fund them, let them do their job, and they'll do it.
Just responded to a letter from my "conservative" friend who claims that unions are pulling the strings in DC. Sent him this link http://www.opensecrets.org/index.php so that he could look up the true numbers, but I'm afraid that he doesn't want to see data that conflicts with his world view.
love the show btw. Use to listen from Los Angeles, now Antigua(Thoms in the CARIBBEAN!!) So, I agree with Petraeus as Obamas pick. Who else would fit the bill? Lets see how the right side media spins this. But unfortunately, by the sound of Obamas voice, I'm not convinced that Obama will pursue "Bite Me" Bidens plan to get out of dodge. I hope he CHANGEs his mind. (was wondering, since I love the show/blog if you guys didn't mind if I posted your blog link on my blog. Can view it first @ http://dissentandreason.wordpress.com Let me know)
Should have read the article first - Obama already directly warned McChrystal about the policy criticisms - buh bye! And Petraeus is an excellent election year choice - let's see if the right-wing complains about President Obama firing a foul-mouthed insubordinate general and replacing him with one of their darlings.

Though there were those in the faith community who stepped out boldly on the vote in Fremont, the outcome is yet another example of how poorly the church is doing in it's call to teach about God's call to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with God. It's kind of like when the church in Germany buried it's head.
Expatriate criminals make sure they don't abandon their connections to the plumbing that lets them continue to drain the wealth from the working classes. They have lots of lobbyists in place to make sure of that.
I fear America is entering the Twilight of its own Dark Ages. The coming of Corporate rule will be as bad if not worse than what humanity went through during the middle ages if we find ourselves unable to regain control of the amoral business monstrosity and its mantra of profit first, profit first, profit first.
Let the rich leave iftgey don't want to pay their fair share of taxes. It will create an opportunity in the " free market " for some one else to make money.
Gainor, the "anti-incumbant" feeling in America is an "anti-conservative" feeling since the majority of incumbants are RIGHT OF CENTER! Americans are fed up with the rob from the poor and give to the rich attitude of the Corporate Congress, unfortunantly there is not enough clammering to take the money out of politics, in fact all the time more and more money is being pumped in (a la Citizens United). The "Damn the topedos full speed ahead" attitude isn't sitting well with the passengers, its just that the majority has no idea how to remove the morons running the Ship of State.
The Republicans will vote for a "Clean" bill, however, they will never consider the bill "Clean". STFU Gainor, talking point stooge! You're a blind defender of the Republican't party whose mission it is to do nothing but prevent progressive legislation and to enrich the wealthy.

Incredible that right wingers say the solution to all of our problems is to allow the "self-regulation" that has worked so well.
When someone starts with the "free market" talk, I suggest that they move to Somolia or Afghanistan.
At least the conservative that was just on wasn't a screaming insane freak like some of the others.
