As I sit and watch the summer birds in the northeast I keep praying to them not to fly south for the winter. Most of these birds and their fledgings will fly to the Gulf Coast and will never return. My heart is broken, my soul aches. I see death everywhere.
TFR appears to be relevant to operations in the area. Air traffic is not restricted above 3000 ft AGL.

Gulf Flight Restrictions ---
The FAA has a temporary flight restriction over the offshore area in Louisiana, including the area where the deepwater rig sank. That restriction includes the outer barrier islands but not the shores to the East. See the map here: http://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/notam_print_0_3481.html

Someone needs to find out who requested the TFR and for how long it is expected to be active. Just to be clear, this is a no-fly zone in US waters.
@Gerald re:#40 - I couldn't help but notice that the article you linked in that post made no reference to President Obama, to any member of the current administration or to anyone currently in Congress or the Senate. Doesn't really support your introductory remark, does it?

re Al Gore, as a caller just mentioned: Al Gore has never renounced corporatism. We can change all the lightbulbs we want but, as Thom speaks so well about, corporatism is the root of this mess and Al Gore is not the right person to turn that boat around.
@Harry RE Peter Ferara: He was/is a human talking point generator and obviously used to Winger Radio and FUAX News . . . It did not matter that the segment was ending, he apparently is paid to spout his message by word count and refused to give up whatever change he could gather for his pockets.
I bet most of the suicides in this country are people who call in to Thom, wait hours or days, then Thom cuts 'em off just before they get to say their most important point, like that woman a few minutes ago. Thats why I never call. :(
