It took this underwater gusher to wake some people up to the evils of big oil. Americans by and large shrugged when big oil took over the White House in 2000; Cheney then held his secret energy task force in our White House, the false flag event of 9-11 that resulted in the treatment of Americans as if we were all possible terrorists (Patriot Act), guilty until proven innocent; the invasion of Afghanistan in order to secure the pipelines from the Caspian, and provide natural gas for Enron's plant in Dabhol, India; the invasion of Iraq's oil fields, the direct awarded contracts to the people closely associated with the Bush/Cheney administration, the appointment of James Baker to the head of the Iraq study group, the awarding of contracts to Hunt oil, with Baker as Hunt's attorney, all those convenient coicidences and people shrugged and looked the other way until this underwater gusher literally threatens all life in the Gulf.
BP and all the big oil companies should be siezed by US, not the US corporate govt, but by US citizens who need to retake the govt back from corporations.
Not only should all corporate assets be seized, but all personal assets of BP directors should be seized and sold off to pay for the cleanup and loss of habitat and jobs in the Gulf. The directors should then be charged with reckless endangerment, fraud, conspiracy to decieve the public, gross environmental destruction, for starters.
I agree with BP, the illnesses are nothing less than food poisoning. I believe this because I believe air ultimately must be consumed, and BP has fouled the air. So from a certain point of view it is food poisoning. Sealife is food and its being poisoned. So lets go ahead and allow BP to keep this line, in fact let them own it, and what monetary caps are there on a company that poisons a country's food stocks?
Yes BP these people are suffering from food poisoning, food that you poisoned. You poisoned it and insisted that these people consume it when you denied them air respirators while working on cleaning up your mess.
Lets not argue with BP about their food poisoning claims, lets help them make that argument and point out that it is their actions that are bringing about this poisoning epidemic. They are practicing low tech biological warfare, they need to be brought to the Hague for crimes agains humanity. As far as I know, there was never a limitation for crimes against humanity being only for country leaders.
1. Oil rig owner has made $270 million off the oil leak
Transocean Ltd., the owner of the Deepwater Horizon rig leased by BP, has been flying under the radar in the mainstream blame game. The world's largest offshore drilling contractor, the company is conveniently headquartered in corporate-friendly Switzerland, and it's no stranger to oil disasters. In 1979, an oil well it was drilling in the very same Gulf of Mexico ignited, sending the drill platform into the sea and causing one of the largest oil spills by the time it was capped... nine months later.
This experience undoubtedly influenced Transocean's decision to insure theDeepwater Horizon rig for about twice what it was worth. In a conference call to analysts earlier this month, Transocean reported making a $270 million profit from insurance payouts after the disaster. It's not hard to bet on failure when you know it's somewhat assured.
If one considers any thing that animals can ingest, inhale, or absorb to be "food," then BP is correct in the technical sense. In the moral sense, they're full of crap for trying to control the problem as a "message" or "PR task" thing rather than work on the technical details of fixing the problem they have, through negligence and greed, imposed on the earth.

All you gotta do to insulate yourself from any oversight or accountability is declare yourself a "defense" contractor.
