BP CEO Tony Hayward disputes experts’ claims to have found huge undersea oil plumes. Hayward said yesterday, "The oil is on the surface. There aren’t any plumes." BP has used ~ 1 million gallons of dispersants (with 20% applied a mile deep) in order to mix the oil into the ocean so now it just doesn't exist anymore? Hayward's statement of denial in the face of plumes found by more than one university research ship, should immediately disqualify BP from ANY managerial control of the oil cleanup.
It is now crystal clear that BP values only the restoration of their image. It is one thing for BP to refuse to look for the plumes (misfeasance) and entirely another for BP to deny the existence of plumes in every direction when they are clearly pointed out (malfeasance). The US needs to remove BP from control of the cleanup for our own self-defense.
BP as a 'fictional corporate person' is a two year old hip deep in their own mess and actively lying about it. BP needs a serious time-out: the giant toxic mess is bad enough, but the lying portends all manner of crimes further down the road. Because, in fact, they are not a real two year old human being, AND Because, as head of Alyeska BP made the Exxon Valdez into a monumental disaster, I say a vigorous thrashing is in order.

New here, just wanted to add to the dialog about the oil leak, (voilcano). If a person spills oil on the water and then uses a dispersant to hide it, has committed a crime. For instance, a common practice by recreational boaters was to squirt some JOY or DAWN diswashing liquid on the oil in the water and it would disapppear. If you were caught doing that you were guilty of violating the Oil Pollution Act. Number one you failed to repoport the incident and second you tried to hide it. Someone needs to bring charges against someone.

The Great Eight
I need to share with you a dream I had. President Obama had sent his secret service staff to take me to Washington, D.C. I was taken to Camp David in the mountains of Maryland. The president said to me when we met that he had read some of my comments and he wanted me to put together a team to share information with him in helping our world move forward, especially the United States. I could not leave Camp David until I had a list of names to be on my team.
I have many names for the list but I wanted to keep the team small enough to be a workable team. Here are the names for the team – Bishop Thomas Gumbleton (a peace activist cleric), Thom Hartmann, Paul Craig Roberts, Ray McGovern, Stephen Lendman, Rachel Maddow, Karen Kwiatkowski (a retired military officer), and Joan Walsh (writer and editor for Salon magazine). These eight names are the core for my team.
I have four names to be called in as consultants from time to time – Doug Soderstrom, to offer inspirational words, Ed Schultz, to offer passionate pep talks on various subjects, Robert Reich, to share his economic information, and John Perkins, to keep us informed as to the United States’ predatory ways to take control over a country’s human and natural resources.
At the start of each meeting we would read the lyrics from John Lennon’s song, “Imagine.” Some words may be altered to meet current times but the central theme of his song will be evident to all who read the words.
The date, time, and place were not set because my wife in her melodic voice asked me a question that awakened me from my dream, “Jerry, what time is it?”
You can fight for the American rich and American corportists but you cannot find work in America.

Obama is finished as president. The Grand Experiment has failed.
Obama is inept to be president. We are witnessing a president who cannot handle crises, such as the flotilla raid and the Gulf oil spill.
gerald is now the president. Here is what I would do as your president. I would call back our Ambassador from Israel and I would call back our Ambassador to come home. And, I would stop licking Israel's behind. I would set in motion the will to prosecute the environmental terrorists, like BP, Halliburton, and Transoceana.
I am finished listening to Obama's hollow rhetoric.
From a practical point of view, the military/political complex may eventually see the necessity of allowing open gays into the military. When the American government saw the need to allow blacks to serve in order mcsa to win the Civil War, they allowed them to, possibly saving the “union”. Truman did the same when he desegregated the military. Fighting almost broke out in the United States between segregated black and white units during WWII.
Obama aide says that the oil spill could last several months. I have this sincere feeling that we are going to face endless BOHICA days.
Rabbi Michael Lerner, editor of Tikkun Magazine and a co-founder of Network of Spiritual Progressives, made a statement deploring Israel's attack on the aid flotilla of small vessels. Both Tikkun and NSP offer great articles to read.
My guess is that all of Thom's listeners are on furloughs.
I will not pacify nations or religions. I am not interested in converting everyone to Catholicism or Christianity and I will criticize Muslims for their efforts to convert everyone to Islam.
I guess my criticism of Israel makes me an anti-Israel and an anti-Semite. The problem in our world is people are too afraid to tell it like it is. Pacifying Israel cannot hide the fact that the Israelis do have many, many murderers in their country.

Please correct me if I am wrong. I sense that Thom seems to have cut back on discussing his optimism about our country’s future. Hopefully, Thom’s gifted intellect will come to grips with reality and the fact that the United States of Hell does not have a future. Maybe miracles do happen, just maybe?

Bush opened the gates of hell--and Obama is acting like the doorman. Bush appointed industry cronies in charge of regulating their industries. How could Obama be so naive as to leave most of these industry hacks in his administration? Surely Obama must share part of the blame for not cleaning out the agencies that Bush had undermined!!
Our troops need to be here defending the Gulf. Bring our troops home where they are desperately needed to defend the Gulf. Declare victory in Iraq and Afganistan and task the Military with defending our borders. There is a massive cleanup looming just over the HORIZON and if Obama does not prepare for this by mobilizing all his resources then this will actually become Obama's Katrina.
International drilling standards
Our planet needs to have international standards for oil drilling! I was incredulous to learn that some Scandanavian countries require a remote acoustic switch for the "Blow Out Preventors" and that Canada requires that a relief well be drilled at the same time as the main well. These requirements seem so basic!! What about other countries? If it is possible for anything good to come out of this disaster, mayhaps it would be the establishment of international standards. Surely, at a minimum, the protection of the enviroment of our planet requires nothing less!!
Chevron? Shell? Citgo?
Obama needs to cretat a task force of the major oil companies who have deep water drilling operations, and assign them the task of stopping this leak. Bp would be a part of this taskforce, but they must be removed from being the lead! This same disaster could have occurred on any of these deep sea platforms, and these other companies need to contribute to the solution.
