@rladlof, harry's into all sorts of strange things. Still waiting on the Republican Fathead decal shipments to arrive so we can adorn his home appropriately. ;-)
I am sure that Dan Gainor might be kind to some animal somewhere, some time . . . Even by accident without intention. Although being an individual simply existing in a collection of disassociated individuals, he should expect that no one should notice and accidently assign the label of “good person” to him to describe those potential actions.
I am making no representation regarding his character as, from a libertarian perspective, this concept is meaningless.
Watching the BP live feed right now (have it placed on the corner of my computer screen all morning). Does seem to be reacting some what, the gas seems to be a little changed in the way its coming out, I'd say a bit more violent.
Re: the case of the school board vs. the girl with the cell phone. Wasn't Roe vs. Wade decided on the idea that a woman has the right to privacy? On the one hand, they should use the transcripts of Roe vs. Wade in the argument for the lawsuit. On the other hand, what if this case makes it up the legal food chain? The majority of the Supreme Court justices would love nothing more than to get their hands on this case. That way they can say "We've revisited Roe vs. Wade and we've changed our minds. Abortion is illegal".
I think this is a classic definition of a can of worms.
The short answer to the violence spectrum matching the climate issue spectrum: is in the answer to the simple (rhetorical) question: What comes first: People or Profits?
Climate change deniers vigorously -> violently defend their right to pursue their personal liberty and objectify people sufficiently to suborn them to personal motives including profit. Climate change believers vigorously defend the environment and people they don't even know (the 7th generation hasn't been born yet ;-) - to the extent we objectify people it is as a 'good thing' beyond any present or future monetary value.
America is the third worst user of oil per head of population in the world, after Saudi Arabia and Canada.
So, Americans, use less oil/gas in your cars. Switch off all the wasted lights at your offices and homes created by burning oil. Then, less oil wil be needed - less oil wells.
Will that ever happen in "couldn't care less how much we waste" America?
@maxrot: re #70: still no picture? hope this isn't ominous
@Maxrot: we agreed...exterior only!

Only three years of probation . . .
The Oil Spew seems to be getting more air or matter coming through it... the feed just went dead.
Interesting.

The front row at a Willie Nelson concert. :)
@maxrot; you know Willie sings about here in Texas, a woman will jump on a man like a dog jumps on a bone.
I can only say, that if our Government isn't big enough to control Corporations correctly, it isn't big enough.
N
re #57: besides, our government only gets bigger when it gets stimulated. :)
The object of capitalist business is to make a profit. This is proved by realizing that companies weigh lives v. bottom line. Nothing new here.
Thom, if this guest were honest, he would admit that the difference between government and big government is semanitic.
@rladlof, uh oh, looks like harry is eyeing you like a lion eye's a weak zebra.

How about this?

No, thought not.
@Harry - It's not my cup of tea.
@Nels - I'm not an expert on the rules of J-walking, especially in Culver City, where this happened.
FRANCE IS NOT SOCIALIST.
France has not had a true Socialist government since André Léon Blum.
re: 51; I agree with you 100%!
Good Government is GOOD Government . . . No matter what size.
Being the hussy I am, broadly speaking, if I'm agreeing with anyone I'm trying to get into bed with them. I'm just that sorta guy . . .
