  • Proof That America is a Socialist Country Now   8 years 3 weeks ago

I suppose the answer to your question "So is America a Socialist Country?" depends on your definition of "America". If you define America as an abstract entity whose soul is derived from the views and desires of the people at large, you get one answer. If you define America as the financial and military behemoth controlled by a wealthy elite that has shown no reluctance to crush entire countries which dare stand in the way of its global dominance, you get an entirely different answer. My guess would be under the second defination, decisively not. Fascist (the polar opposite), absolutely.

america's problem is one of complacency. so long as there is money and food in the grocery store america will believe what it sees in the media. dems have done a poor job of educating the electorate ptherwise, and heck ya, bernie is right on. until we return to the tax code in place before ronald reagan took office there will not be a middle class and the rich will not pay their fare share.

Your system changed "authentic" in my message to "authenticate" -- NOT what I wrote. What program are you using that changes correct spellings to incorrect ones? Hope you'll get it changed. Thanks.

No one wants the US government to take over businesses (true socialism), but socialist health insurance - Medicare for all - is a great idea. Members of Congress and the military have it. It takes advantage of economies of scale with the largest possible risk pool, much better than having many insurance companies with multiple data and payout systems. It's working around the world, including countries with free market economies.

It is true that a high percentage of USers like Sen. Sanders' ideas, but the more significant reason why some of us love Bernie is that he is trustworthy, honest, authenticate, and highly intelligent and wise, to boot.

This aricle is nonsense. Americans that count, the halfwits that live in Wyoming, the Dakotas, Montana, etc prefer the plutocracy we have. Only the second class citizens of the the large population areas want any type of social programs.

ideas are one thing and implementing institutions is another.

Hope the activists focus on a state by state approach rather than

forcing the ideas on certain areas of of the US strongly resistant to them.

  • Trump Risks World War for Tiny Syrian Intervention   8 years 3 weeks ago

As one of the great liberal presidents of post WWII pointed out it is all about the Military Industrial Complex. Or as they say in the not-so-great Federal District Of Wall Street: "It's all about the money boys and girls!" Neither Iraq or Afghanistan are generating enough profits! We need a brand new and bigger war dropping lots of bombs and putting more bullets to the pound into the "collateral causalities of war" than ought to be allowed by international law (0). It is all hype to justify making these Wall Street "money junkies" and other perverse fetish fiends their tons of flesh lots and lots of money upon the death of innocents and destruction of nations in response to the only aphrodisiac stamped into our genetic code: the lust for wealth and power!

I received a Presidential Invitation to join in the "fun in the sun" of war in Southeast Asia. It was then known as a duty of each and every male citizen to serve in the military when "asked" - those of us who went did so because we had no other recourse. The vast majority of our fellow males at the time were able to get some sort of deferment that allowed them to literally dodge the bullets and throw the weight they should have been carrying onto the backs of those of us who went (Trump, G W Bush, Cheney, Bill Clinton are the worst offenders among them all). To say that conscription is unfair is an understatement predicated upon the fact that war is insane and totally indiscriminate who it kills, maims and/or totally obliterates. To say that I am still outraged some 47 years after my taste of war is accurate. I will be outraged until the day that I die. You see I am a 100% disabled service connected veteran. That means that the medical problems I am fighting today and will probably die from are all the direct and proximate result, according to the federal government, of my time in Vietnam. In a sense for me and others like me our time as soldiers in a war has never ended and we are still serving against our will.

The most distressing part is I look about and now see that service to our corrupt American Empire is no longer put forth as a duty. The Madison Avenue types have now framed it as a privilege to volunteer to be a henchman for The Henchman Of The American Empire. The people who actually get their hands bloody while Wall Street types kept their manicured hands clean in finger bowls of gin and vermouth. Got a lousy economy locally? Dumbed down high school was the last stop on the Train Of Functionally Literate Public Education? The American Empire has just the job for you: Soldier, Sailor, Or Airperson! Military Occupational Specialty: Cannon Fodder. Job Description: soften up enemy combatants and civilians (especially women, babies, other children and old men) before we throw our real military might at them: killer technology controlled from off of the battlefield.

Follow the orders: they run from Wall Street to a Trump White House in a luxury tower or estate and back to Wall Street where the CEO Of the Empire's rubber stamp of approval "magically" turn into profits for Robber Barons and their minions. (Never mind the blood, guts and Death stuff, never mind! Do not think of that stuff. It is bad for you ... err us.) Remember: "It takes War to Build A Glorious Homeland." George W. Smith*, 43rd CEO Of The Empire.

*Name changed by Department Of Homeland Security to protect the guilty. T--mp = Donald J. Stamp.

Democrats should add an amendment that will REQUIRE Donald Trump to release at least the past ten years of his tax returns. The way he has been acting indicates that most of his alleged "wealth" is actually just borrowed money!

  • Trump Sabotaging Obamacare   8 years 3 weeks ago

This is furhter evidence that Obamacare shouild be replaced with a single-payer (universal) Medicare-For-All Program. This should be easy to pass, because most American adults are already familiar with what Medicare offers (based on their parents' experiences with it).

  • Transparency Era Ends at the People’s House   8 years 3 weeks ago

As with his tax returns, Donald Trump's attempts to hide what he has been doing only leads to massive (ugly) speculations as to what he has been doing. His history so far reinforces the "ugly" part of that. It is too bad, because if he had kept his campaign promises (rather than doign the opposite of what he had promised), he COULD have been widely popular by now.

The biggest problem facing the Democrat Party is the Democrat Party. Until you washed up lefties quit being victims, and take responsibility for your destiny, you will NEVER succeed.

  • DNC Unveils Unity Reform Commission   8 years 3 weeks ago

The biggest problem facing the Democratic Party is that they get almost zero corpse media press coverage, and if that isn't enough, they're also up against foxaganda and all other manner of fascist controlled brainwashing of lazy minds.

My advice....when any Democrat gets their ten seconds on Meet the Republicans, or any other Sunday show, ignore the question, and just start talking about how your party wants single payer, wants to strengthen social security, and raise taxes on the rich. Talk about the Teapublican's cross check election fraud. Mention that climate change is real science. Mention how just the Kochs and Murdochs alone have ffddd this country up so bad, we're on the verge of economic collapse. Mention how the child rapist in the White House is likely to get us all killed. A 13 year old is a child!

Putin played a far larger role in this illegitimate election than anyone but the CIA knows. He has destabilized the entire planet...good luck to all when the panic sets in. The orange haired guy is going to make a very bad decision.

  • DNC Unveils Unity Reform Commission   8 years 3 weeks ago

The Democratic Party is only nominally progressive. As long as the party and candidates raise funds from corporate lobbyists, principles will always be sacrificed. For Democrats to distinguish themselves from Republicans, they need to become dedicated champions of real systemic reforms. Proportional representation is one of the reforms that is required to bring a significant degree of demcracy to the United States. The corruption of gerrymandering could be eliminated by the fundamental reform of voting for a party rather than for individual candidates. If the Democratic party wins 50 percent of the statewide vote, then the Democratic party would by an internal election choose the individuals to send to the House of Representatives equal to one-half of the allocated seats.

With Perez' 3 that makes 12 for the establishment, and 7 for the progressives. They never learn!

Bravo, Unc! You hit it squarely on the head!

  • DNC Unveils Unity Reform Commission   8 years 3 weeks ago

Will the DNC succeed? Of course not!! Why? Because they -don't- =want= -to-, since they don't -really- want to change a damn thing! Let's be honest for a moment, shall we? The =ONLY= thing the DNC wants is the survival and continuation of the DNC, period, full-stop. "We, the People"?? Who the hell do we think -we- are, anyway?! They don't give a tinker's damn about "We, the People" any more than the RNC does. Sheeesh.

  • DNC Unveils Unity Reform Commission   8 years 3 weeks ago

Do I think that the DNC will arrive at any form of useful reform? Short answer: No. Why? Because the Democratic Party is/was supposed to be on the side of the best interests of working men and women (to include unions). What part of "Corporate Democrat" says best interests of working men and women? Oh, they may agree on some window dressing reforms, but substantively, as long as Perez and any holdovers from the Wasserman-Schultz era are still in the mix, they are going to be pulling for their donors. The ONLY fundamental change that would really matter is that all ties to corporate anything be cut off forever, and that there would be a full return committment to the tenets of FDR, Single Payer, a toppling of the military-industrial complex and a vacating of war as a means to make the 1% rich. Now, you and I both know this ain't gonna happen. They will get together and rangle around and come up with some impotent bastardization of what should be a full bore reform. Let's just say we've seen this roadshow before and hold out no hope that the right-leaning players will change their allegiances and alliances; some people are just too addicted to money. And let's face the fact that if the DNC thought they could get back into power without making any concessions, they wouldn't even give this commission a second thought; which means their will and their committment to change just really aren't there from the start. But, hey, good luck to Bernie and all those on his team. Any inroads is better than none at all. But I'm willing to bet that if the whole country doesn't wake up, and rise up to demand change, that DJT will get a second term in office and the conservative parade will march on. Interesting to note; In a town of 30,000 people, less than 15 will show up for the monthly movie of relevance night...e.g. Water Wars, Health Care.

Put on, at no charge other than your time, by what's called the 'Peace and Justice' group, with adequate media notice, I fear the numbers of attendees speak louder than words.

If a town of 30,000 can only generate 15 people interested in long term health of the people and the environment, I'll extrapolate and say...not much chance of any change in the political structure in the near future.

Considering that I'm basically a 'bottom up' guy, this is depressing.

  • DNC Unveils Unity Reform Commission   8 years 3 weeks ago

How are they going to reform the party if nine of the members were chosen by Clinton? Therein lies the problem. They're the ones who NEED to be BOOTED OUT.

  • DNC Unveils Unity Reform Commission   8 years 3 weeks ago

How about some of us voters, you know - those of us who WANT to vote for our party?!

It seems like currently, few us us care what the party bosses think, but instead want to reform our party from the ground - up!

  • DNC Unveils Unity Reform Commission   8 years 3 weeks ago

The real purpose of the Democratic Party is ensure that progressive agenda is not allowed anywhere near the platform. In this purpose they will succeed.

"If you want to kill any idea in the world, get a committee working on it." -- Charles Kettering

It's been 9 months since the Democratic National Convention ...and they still need 9 more months to figure out what went wrong?! By then, they'll only have 9 months until the midterms.

    "Revolution 9" -- John Lennon

With 9 commissioners, Clinton dems hold sway over the Bernie dems. The party has 18 short months to reverse that dynamic and change perceptions.
