The other day on the Rachel Maddow Show (MSNBC)... Rachel took her viewers into the dark history of past oil spills. I had no idea there were so many. Where was I, while the oil companies were busy drilling and spilling?

Tom has indicated several times that Haliburton moved its headquarters to Dubai. The story line from Haliburton and other industry insiders is that this is just a new branch office, but that it's pointless to try to dispel the impression that it's the new headquarters, because everyone loves a consipiracy, etc., etc. Does anyone have more solid information on this?
The Maine incarnation of the Tea Party is turning Republican…doh. Rather than being pure separatists they think the Republican Party is a good vehicle for their stuff. So at the party convention they threw out the Republican Platform and replaced it with their own platform. It is a mishmash of ideas tempered with some head scratchers. The suspected move toward isolationism is becoming more and more apparent as you read through the document.
It begins like a declaration of independence from something.
I'm all for encouraging the non-drug related use of hemp but it is currently illegal to grow hemp in the U.S. I first became aware of this a couple of years ago via a news piece on a Native American on a reservation in the Dakotas attempting to bring a cash crop out of some pretty poor soil in a relatively short growing season, only to be raided by DEA agents destroying of confiscating the fruit of his labor. There are not many ways to eek out a living on those reservations. Hemp grows well there and could provide an income for some of our most disadvantaged citizens if th
I had an idea for a blog that I hope will benefit someone. As you all know "Tag, you're it!" is a phrase that Thom says at the end of each show. It's intent is to inspire listeners to become more than simply listeners, and become involved in their communities. We are at the point in this country where most of us are just completely fed up with how much politicking has become involved in our politics. It seems that the officials we have elected to represent us have largely lost sight of why we put them there in the first place.
On youtube there are many New World Order (NWO) videos which explain the possibility of a cartel type ideology of billionaires and the biggest corporations taking total control of the Planet by destroying the political power by bankrupting and buying all the govt's of the world. Its always the goal of evil to control all the world by force. (Hitler, Napoleon, G. Khan etc). Presently the Manufacturing Capitalism "free market" is approaching the "monopoly game model" which will bankrupt and collapse the system , it is just a matter of time. And the time is apparently getting closer.
I would be interested to know exactly how many of the Bush/Cheney political appointees, who are not sufficiently qualified, are still "regulating" the oil-industry. After Bush appointed Gayle Norton (coal-industry lawyer) to be Secretary of The Interior, it became evident that "regulation" of the energy-industry had been sold-out during the secret Cheney "Energy policy meetings". Can we link this sell-out to the ciminal-negligence of British Petroleum, Halliburton, and Transocean?? Who is willing to prosecute these crimes?
