ENRON MERS

Lawyers have spent a good deal of time getting statutes of limitation and records retention times reduced so that they will be scott-free long before anyone realizes what they're doing if ever, or prosecution will be too difficult for our American Bar Association Collective Trust on State Street-controlled USDOJ. Even if they are caught, federal prison isn't such a bad rap anyway. Is it worth it to mow lawns for a few years when there're hundreds of millions waiting at the end of the sentence?

Obama and the Tax Cuts

Obama has to let the tax cuts for the wealthy expire and not just because it's the right thing to do. If the cuts expire, the only way Republicans can reintroduce them is through legislation, which means they would have to cooperate with Democrats. If Obama just extends the tax cuts as a peace offering, there is no reason for Republicans to behave any differently than they have in the past, which is to ignore and belittle his efforts to "cross the isle" and continue with their agenda of destruction. So why would Obama surrender one of his best bargaining chips unless he re

DEFEAT IN DE MOUTH

Republicans stoked up anger among the voters and focused the anger on Obama . The Democratic pundits did the same thing but unfortunately they focused their anger on Obama as well. The anger cascaded across the country and reached catharsis on election day. The bottom line is that we helped in our own demise.

The Grand Design

If memory serves me correctly the evangelical movement started in ernest during the 1970's. At which point it became radically right, I do not know, But well I know, the evangelical movement has become a nightmare for America, and has been exclusively taken over by the Republican Party. While claiming to want smaller government and being for the people they conversely want to force all of their radical beliefs on all American's and if necessary destroy those American's who will not roll over to their way of thinking.

Cuban Plane Crashes Killing All Aboard

A Cuban airliner flying from the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba to Havana crashed Thursday evening after declaring an emergency, killing all 68 people aboard, including 28 foreigners. Government investigators were at the scene of the tragedy, and are attempting to determine a cause. Our sympathies go out to the families of the victims, and to the Cuban people. A few years back, I wrote about flying on airlines inside Cuba, and this is the piece as published in the Chicago Tribune.

Coumarin and Coumadin

Thom, I listen to your radio program as often as I can and I very much admire the fact set that you bring to political discourse, which frequently lacks it. But yesterday, in one of your science notes, you confused coumarin (a natural product and constituent of many plants including cinnamon) and coumadin (the anticoagulant used for medical purposes and for rat poison, aka warfarin). Chemically, coumarin and coumadin are very different. That said, it is true that eating large amounts of coumarin in cinnamon or anything else isn't good for you.

Gentlemen, Reverse Your Engines

What an interesting week! Interesting in it's ups and downs, more ups than downs. Starting with the Giant's win deep in the heart of Texas in front of George W. Bush and the unflappable Laura. ( I know, this is the 3rd or 4th time I've written about the Giants…it's just a great story) The great Nolan Ryan Express was sitting to the left of the Bushes looking rather glum. Very few people gave the Giants much of a chance of going all the way to the trophy ceremony.

A 'jewel box 'must read for your listeners (and one the whole country should read)

Positive Lessons From The Tea Party

While miles apart philosophically from the Tea Party liberal Democrats can take a lesson from the Tea Party movement in promoting and successfully electing candidates who share their ideals. It is easy to dismiss the organizations most radical members as "out of touch", "extreme", or even "whacko". However, it is not so easy to dismiss the success the Tea Party organization enjoyed in capturing the electorates attention and elevating many of their chosen candidates to higher office.

Koch Brothers and the John Birch

The Koch Brothers didnt founded the John Birch Society it was Robert Welch of Welch Grape juice and Jelly fame that founded them in Dec. 1958. I dont know why Thom didnt know that!

How Do We Take Back the Military From the Billionaire Owned Military Industrial Complex?

Thom plus logo Democrats (Bernie & Lee) in the senate proposed legislation saying what the Constitution already says: that Trump can't go to war with Iran without congressional authorization. Every Republican on the committee, except Rand Paul, voted against it.
