Thom, Could you please refrain from calling the United States a democracy...we are a REPUBLIC! I keep hearing the many media refer to our system as the "d" word when in fact we are a Constitutional Republic. It's a democratic voting system, but a democracy is mob rule. Thanks for reading. Laura

"deficit spending" is not one word. Deficits are caused by cost. A family does not reduce the cost of bread by not eating, and government is not "intent" on growing rather than doing what is needed. government has done more (more people in the population, covering costs) with less (least revenue in half a decade) and waste and fraud can be corrected much more easilly than in private industry (as we know). Constantly reducing government wherewithall (libertarianism) is not wise nor visionary.
