Was recently at grandson's birthday party. In an adult conversation (really an "ain't it awful" rant) (the kids were in another room), someone threw out "the deficit gets worse every year". I said no, the deficit has gone down each of the past 5 years. This evolved into "how would you fix the mess this country is in", and I was ready. Raise taxes on the rich individuals and corporations, stop unfair subsidies to multinational corporations, especially petroleum, regulate the banksters, to start.
What in the hell is wrong with us?!
Big Oil and Fracking is killing the workers who are involved in the process of killing us all with Green House Gases!?!
Pollution Diseases: When we need healthcare the most, will the profiteers be the only ones to benefit?
Our elected officials had a chance to give us non-predatory healthcare insurance, but they decided to leave the profiteering in place.
This goes hand-in-hand with another of their failures -- which is their consistent Unwillingness to stop pollution of every kind and clean up the damage wrought by runaway industrialists who put profits before public health.
So, in our corrupted system, illness means profits, and yet another method to take each citizens' every last bit of accrued wealth of any kind in health debt.
Money and Power is more important to Obama than your children's welfare.
Japan is copying USA.
If the USA could get away with censoring information on THE BIGGEST OIL DISASTER in history in the Gulf of Mexico, then Japan can censor information on THE BIGGEST NUCLEAR DISASTER at Fukushima. Clearly more than a 'trend'!
And CENSORSHIP it is. Journalism has been banned.
Basic goods and needs which come under commodities -- long recognized as REQUIRING regulation by government for the stabilized and ensured the flow of goods and services, to prevent insane shortages and insane surplus problems and uncontrollable pricing and other useful things for trade and society as a whole -- are now up for grabs in the post NEOLIBERAL COUP era.
Sometime, maybe about 33 BC, a child was born. During those 30 odd years it is told he took a fish and a loaf and turned it into many. Then about 33 years later they executed him...
The spikes driven into his wrists and ankles were the most painful thing he'd ever felt. Is this what they went through? All the pain, all the questions: though he knew the answers, he could see life, for them, was filled with questions... filled with pain. It wasn't as easy as anyone looking down upon their creations might think.
For maybe there is knowing all.
And then there is actually "knowing."
Having human form made all the difference.
But he never expected what that last jab in the side would actually feel like.
"Why have you forsaken me," indeed.
Finally it was "finished."
The story goes that his body was prepared, taken to the tomb. You know the rest. Or do you?
Since he often taught with parables let's the expanded story much the same way...
