Inspection- Drones v. Torture

How is this even considered a "rational" discussion we must have?

"We're going after...the Environmental Protection Agency." Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY)

This from the Union of Concerned Scientists:

"We're going after...the Environmental Protection Agency." That's what Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) promised the billionaire Koch brothers and their allies in a leaked recording. And now he's gearing up to do just that.1

PETITION: “Tired of the Bushes And Clintons?”

This from RootsAction:

North Dakota Oil: Lawsuits Claim Native American Tribes Cheated, with the help of the Federal Govt, Out Of More Than $1 Billion.

You can't even get a fair deal when you want to destroy the environment!

Oh well, Indigenous people, and others with less of a political voice, always get screwed first. But with fracking it’s all our turn.

The Private and Lethal Prosperity of Today’s Energy Special Interests.

Pipelines, fracking, natural gas, coal exports, “Saudi America”, financing of the same, etc. is all coming at a horrific and likely final price. Fossil Fuels blaze on. We have solved nothing.

WI Taxpayers, NOT Walker’s Gogebic cronies, have spent $260,000 so far on compliance costs for the uber destructive Taconite mine.

It blows my mind, how this thing can be built when it will pollute the single largest fresh water watershed in the United States – Lake Superior (and probably the Mississippi river). I’m just going to throw it out there that fresh water might be of strategic significance to the entire nation. Is this what Obama meant by “States’ Rights?”

New York state, home to Wall St Oil financiers, BANS OBAMA’S FRACKING citing huge risks to air and water.

Europe also bans fracking citing huge risks to air and water, but yet wealthy campaign contributing oil companies are allowed to run rampant with fracking over much of the US, thanks Obama

Read it and weep about how Americans feel about torture

A coherent article about torture. Every Cheney point is refuted.

Political Corporate Fascism and the U.S. Postal Service

This was response to TH's blog. I thought it made a good blog post

It's a perfect target for the new conservatism. It's undefended and unaware, that it's an enemy of the new conservative (corpo-fascism) ideology. The United States Postal Service is a cheap option for the public to ship and receive their mail and packages. And last but not least, Postal workers are protected by democratic institutions, the enemy of state capitalism, unions.

Og and Zog Go Hiking: Walking Like a Caveman

As an outdoor photographer and long distance hiker, I was fascinated by the idea that our brains are plastic and when harmed, through evolutionary circumstances, we have the ability to heal our mental and emotional traumas by walking long distances.

I backpack throughout the Missouri Ozarks year round covering on average 400 miles annually and have done so for the past three years. The nature photography project in which I participate demands I hike up to 15 miles on my longest treks during the summer; it was especially these hikes that I tried a new approach to walking.

Would a Democratic President Wield Power as Ruthlessly as Trump?

Thom plus logo Interestingly, the current divide in the Senate gives us an insight into how powerful a genuinely progressive Democratic president could be, and how much he or she could get done. As we saw yesterday, the Republicans voted repeatedly to participate in a cover-up of Donald Trump's crimes.
