Dear Mr. Hartmann:
You have some Veterans here that need a little help. We wrote a book of poems, had it published and had 2 book fairs (all with our own money). My Literary Agent was supposed to help; but never got back to me. Mind you, we get small checks and food stamps.
We need some help to get our book out there. It gained great reveiws.
If you know of someone, we would be willing to give 1/2 to his favorite charity and some of these poems will be made into records.
Thanks for listening....William Abair
"The need to be right is the sign of a vulgar mind." - Albert Camus
There is a rather rhetorical question often asked in clinical psychology, the origins of which seem lost in the quicksand of time: Would you rather be right, or be loved?
as a dem, i enjoy watching jindal writhe in his effort to position himself just right to win nomination: no chance, bobby; your "rebuttal" of obama's early speeches was lame, unimaginative, a script from gop column a.
the fun will be watching these idiots scramble for the low road, fight to outdo each other in callousness and meanness. jindal will try hard, but no chance.
An article exposing right-wing fundraising scams has gone viral--and it's by conservative blogger John Hawkins. Linked and quoted in other articles left, right and in between, it's better to rely on the original source to read for yourself. Among the biggest scammers are Sarah Palin, Ben Carson, and various Tea Party groups:
Anyone who's interested in following what Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is doing in--and to--the state should be a regular follower of the Capital Times editorial and companion cartoon published every Wednesday.
CT editor emeritus Dave Zweifel needs no hype to break down Walker's machinations; he makes his points factually and succinctly. Award-winning cartoonist Mike Konopacki polishes it all off with spot-on companion cartoons that skewer Walker for the self-aggrandizing, Koched-up sycophant he is.
Drinking? Having your just attended the Prayer Breakfast, the “ugly” truth is, Mr. President, we sure look like we’re at war with Islam.
America is replete with failures in separation of church and state, including, most egregiously in the military. I guess that’s why Obama felt it necessary to remind American’s that we are not at war with Islam (but really, I’m not too sure!):
Recruiters using posters advertising god’s war,
Troops singing Onward Christian solider,
Top brass in full military garb at the pulpit addressing a mega church,
Bomber plane pilots being predominately Christian,
The constitutional mandate of the post office ensured a cutting edge communication service for citizens, as an important attribute of a free society. It very clear to me that this mandate should have expanded many times in the past - to account for the telephone, the cell phone, and now internet and whatever communications technology is about to develop.
Tom - I'm tied in knots with frustration. These two Women, (2/18/2015) talk over everyone. They've been on before. I won't watch them again unless you can get them to respect other commentors. Rude!!!
