What has this topic here got to do with chimps? I didn't watch that TV program and have no clue whether you got it right. In the past you often did NOT (Russian revolution ect.). If a radio and tv host talks many hours daily, there will always occur errors. In Thom's program this happens very seldom, because he really seems to love truth and accuracy. As I saw, it seems you don't appreciate this that much.

Today it's well known, animals are being taught by their parents. If you adopt a seagull, it's impossible to teach it how to survive. I can speak for that as mother of a disabled herring gull for almost 18 years.

I dont care about the chimpanzee point (right or wrong). All I can tell you for sure is your reasoning is exactly backwards.. Liberals endeavor to give people freedom and choice.. While the common denominator of conservative economics is to funnel all the profit and resources up to the top 1-percent (borg like structure).. Ironically, it is conservative economics, letting big business do whatever it wants, that is turning our society into a borg like structure, where the drones (workers like most of us), dont matter (rather only trickling the money up matters)..

We had cops attacking peaceful protesters in America.. I saw a cop with an industrial size tank of tear gas spraying protesters sitting down with cameras.. I saw an unconscious protester (apparently the war veteran whom the cops shot in the head with a rubber bullet).. And when other protesters tried to help the unsonscious person, the cops threw a grenade into the group.. Now, they are trying to change laws to put peaceful protestrs in jail? We live in a diuctatorship, and I am amazed that conservatives support this.. Seems liberals and conservatives both should unite on this point..

The ideas and goals of libertarians are simply asocial. In a functioning society, freedom at any expense isn't possible. Because it destroys any society. Communism isn't working, libertarianism isn't working as well. Both are extreme theories that don't work in reality. We have traffic rules and we need rules in economics as well. Everything else leads to chaos.

The right to strike and protest should be universal.Unions wouldn't need to exist if every business was run as a co-op.In our hierarchical system, where some bosses recieve thousands of times the compensation of grunts, unions MUST be allowed to exist.The hoarding of wealth isn't healthy-money needs to flow.

As a parent of two young women, I'm appalled by Rush's comments. And, not just the "slut" and "prostitute" comments. He was even worse the following day as he suggested that Fluke should post sex tapes on-line - "So Miss Fluke, and the rest of you Feminazis, here’s the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex. We want something for it. We want you post the videos online so we can all watch."

Nothing short of disgusting - This man should not be on the air!!!

Thick as theives...Obama and Aipac...or maybe I should say thick as war criminals! Yeah, I know....Obama just wants to be re-elected. So...it looks like the Israelis are taking advantage of the US elections...basically blackmailing or coercing Obama into acting on this critical issue on Israel's behalf at a time when we are most vulnerable to being coerced. Aipac is very powerful and it seems no one gets elected or re-elected without their support. I suspected that they would come up with something in an attempt to derail the attention away from our terrible economic problems and the criminal banksters and wall street fiascos. I thought they would engineer another 911-style false flag but no it looks like that false flag will likely hit Iran (then maybe the US). And was Rush Limbaugh all part of the distraction? After all what is more important? What Rush said or what Obama said when Obama said that the US would gladly be Israel's Butt Buddy in an attack against Iran?

That's just the way I saw it, too. A non-apology posing as an apology. Limpballs isn't really sorry and he obviously meant every word he said before. He was only being pressured by losing so many sponsors. In "apologizing" he ended up attacking the victim once again by calling her and everyone of us names...."he stooped down to our level"....right!

And this same mentality has let a lot of the wealthy elite get away with murdering and robbing us. The banks are getting away with looting us. The military is murdering us. The cops are beating us. And now Obama is supporting Israel in the likely Israeli attack on Iran.

How many innocent Iranian citizens will be murdered by an invasion by Israel and the US? How many Israeli and US citizens will be killed if Iran retaliates?

There are many Iranians in many cities all over the US...how many are waiting to retaliate if Iran gets attacked? How many devices of mass destruction are planted in US cities?

If Israel has a large arsenal of nuclear bombs then why can't Iran have some too? Why is Israel so much more deserving of our support on this matter?

Having nuclear weapons, when others don't, gives Israel or the US the ability to bully other countries that don't have them. History has shown that if you have nukes the bully nations with nukes shy away from bullying them and certainly won't attack them.

And don't tell me that Israel (or the US) is more responsible and less crazy than would be Iran or any other Muslim country. The US has already murdered hundreds of thousands with their nukes in WWII in Japan and nearly used them again several times...in Korean War and in the Vietnam War. And the US and Israel has used inhumane and illegal munitions against people they were at war against like Phosphorus Bombs, Napalm, Agent Orange, Depleted Uranium, cluster bombs.

And Israel has continued to steal and occupy land that belonged to the Palestinians and continues to bomb them into oblivion using Phosphorus and cluster bombs.

This is about as clear and easy to understand as it can be. The article below is completely neutral, neither anti-republican or democrat. Charlie Reese, a retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinel, has hit the nail directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must assume responsibility for the judgments made that impact each one of us every day. 545 vs. 300,000,000 People

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don't propose a federal budget. The President does.

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? John Boehner. He is the leader of the majority party. He and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.

If the Army & Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan it's because they want them in Iraq and Afghanistan ...

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees...

We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

I watched Thom the other night on TV. He said the difference between humans and other mammals like chimpanzees is that human’s alone share knowledge. “Such as young children working together to solve a puzzle”. Thus sharing in society is exclusive to humans but not other mammals. (An obvious veiled suggestion about socialism) ….. WRONG ….

Chimpanzees are troop oriented and territorial. Just as humans are family and community oriented. Chimps are tool users, not by instinct but by shared learning in their troop. One troop may be skilled at sticking twigs in termite mounds to piss off the termites. Then when they extract the twigs they’re covered in tasty termites. The entire troop shares this skill within its community. But another neighbor troop may lack this knowledge. It remains that many mammals in the world share and teach information, such as bears and seals to their offspring. But the chimp troop does not share with other troops. “It’s a survival of the fittest strategy to protect the group”.
Dolphins and killer whales and many other mammal species evolved to share information within small family populations but not universally. Hunting techniques in particular are diversified throughout the world and are a result of shared learned behavior in small groups - not some mandated “world view” Orca government.

The socialist ideology actually applies more to ants and bee colonies, and the Borg on Star Trek. Where the greater good of the hive, or nest is the rule. And thus individuals have little value. ......But insects are pure instinct, - “Sorry bees, make me some honey and shut up”!
Nature was not designed to be to be universally equal, and sadly we humans aren’t either, even if some “silver pony tail radicals” from the 60’s disagree.

Humans are incredibly competitive by nature, and to just ordain it not so by political ideology does not change it to be so. No matter what kind of society mankind creates, it will always develops into a common denominator.
“Survival of those who want the least amount of discomfort and the greatest amount of power and wealth”.

And that’s why the founding fathers created the constitution. “To create a society where it had the best chance to survive and benefit EVERYONE UNIVERSALLY by preventing tyrants from taking over.
