I heard about that Republican "envy"-blabla once more, after Obama's spreech.....

Pshaw, 30% for wealthy parasites is just right to get them to work. I don't "envy" those arrogant rich no-goodniks, just want them see getting to action. I don't "envy" poor who live on welfare or food stamps. I don't 'envy' the wealthy welfare queens as well. But America is NOT a country of moochers, freeloaders and slackers! America has always been the country of doers. Some rich idiots follow kinda dreams about being sort of neo-baroque wannabe-sunkings. And we gotta tell 'em: NO GO!

A corporation or other venture can make money as much as they want. But it's smarter to reinvest, than to misuse profits for insane pomp. Reasonable taxation encourages reinvestment instead of private luxury. And 30% is still rather generous.

After that ridiculous "envy"-blabla, I decided to attack harder: the GOP. We gotta be more offensive and tell them the truth. It is time for tough counter-attacks -- tell 'em off. Obama can't do anything without us. He can't attack as hard as I can. He simply can't afford as President of all Americans. We have to do that, without being afraid to hurt people. Obama lost his majority in 2010 and can't do much against the GOP gridlock. This is a cold WAR, we have to fight for this country. We don't wanna go to the 3rd world after 2012!

Ed Schultz said it yesterday too: "This is war." We have to fight for America.

    SOPA PIPA and now ACTA!
Will these people never quit? Nope, and they will get sneakier.

Did Obama say something in his speech last night about having just signed a bill that sounded a lot like ACTA? Did they sneak one in on us?

"If you thought the Stop Online Piracy Act and the Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act were scary, imagine this: There is an international treaty with the same goals and civil rights infringements as its American cousins, crafted in secrecy outside any existing trade organization with the help of industry giants such as the Motion Picture Association of America.

The treaty’s goal is to ban counterfeit goods and online piracy by requiring Internet Protocol servers and individual websites to monitor and prosecute suspected copyright infringements. But the goal comes packaged with some collateral damage: infringements on individual’s civil rights and the creation of a system responsible for widespread, international online censorship.

This nightmare treaty is called the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. It has most of the same goals, supporters and privacy abuses of SOPA and PIPA. What it didn’t have was the kind of public outcry led by websites such as Reddit and Wikipedia when it was signed by the U.S. The treaty now awaits ratification by the European Union before it goes into full force.

ACTA’s scope is far wider than SOPA or PIPA. It aims to stop the “proliferation of counterfeit and pirated goods, as well as of services that share infringing material.” This includes knockoff Louis Vuitton purses and cheap counterfeit medicine in developing nations. It also means any website or program that could potentially be used to infringe copyrighted material, from sites with links for music downloads to music-burning software, would be automatically outlawed."

  • What do you think of President Obama's State of The Union speech?   13 years 27 weeks ago

Much of what Pres Obama said last night was very welcome...but saying something...making great grandstanding speeches is one thing but acting on it is another. That's right!...Obama can't act alone...except in the case of the appointments he makes. And just what appointments did he make in this term that liberal/progressives are happy about? Actions speak louder than words and Obama's past actions....appointing wolves to rule the roost, constantly giving in to elite interests and giving away most of the interests of the majority of Americans, and acting just like that tin-horn wanna be dictator war criminal Bush....does not anoint Obama with anything that can be believed or relied upon in any speech he gives.

Obama laid out some very necessary things that need to be corrected...and a few things that sounded like he is skirting around some issues...like our military presence in the Middle East, murdering innocent civilians with drones and other high tech weapons. Sounds like he is still our war criminal President ready and willing to continue the slaughter to keep our military industrial and oil companies happy.

Obama is really out of touch with reality when he continues to mention Al Qaida....the boogey man still lives in the minds and propaganda of some people...but others in the know....know that we whipped them a long time ago and the only people left are the ones who are just fighting the tyranny of foreign occupiers and are defending their homeland. And the more atrocities we continue to commit over there..the more enemies we will have...no matter what stupid propaganda name is attributed to them. But enemies is what the military industrial congressional complex needs to keep it's citizens scared and compliant with their demands.

The dirty little secret is that the real enemy is right here at home and those elitist powers are creating the illusions that get people to believe and do stupid things.

One stupid belief is that some bearded man suffering from Marfan's disease, someone who needed kidney dialysis, sitting in some cave in Afghanistan managed to conceive, plan and convince 19 Muslims to crash airliners into tall buildings. These 19 got into the country so easily, with the Bush regime help, and some trained at flight schools...some near military bases...were terrible at even the small craft they trained on...all with the watchful eyes of the FBI...but whose managers kept that information suppressed. Now, why do you suppose they did that?

Some people knew, beforehand, what was going down. Important people were warned not to fly that day. Stock markets reacted with lots of short selling on those two airlines that day. A van of Israelis were arrested watch, filming, and cheering when the towers went down....later when they returned to Israel..went on their TV to say they were there to record the incident.

We are supposed to believe that these "terrorists" were capable of hitting their targets? Non-sense!! The whole false flag of terrorism has replaced the Soviet Menace of Communism and the total annihilation scare of an atomic war to control the people. It keeps the military industrial complex and politicians in business.

And politicians can continue to make great speeches that tweak the emotional heart-strings of the people, and continue to blame the other side, in their tug-of-war, smoke-and-mirrors propaganda machine. But unless the people see through it and realize that words are just empty and meaningless without real actions to back them up then we will continue our downward slide into serfdom and slavery. Obama's great speech was just another meaningless campaign speech...just as meaningless as the ones he made before he won the Presidency.

Ultracrepidariously ugly? It's hard to interpret the adverbial form, but at least "ultracrepidarian" is a word I'd heard of. I guess it means a kind of ugliness beyond what has ever been encountered. That would have been appropriate for the "liberal" cat yesterday.

You know Maxrot, there's actually been some study lately into using high-altitude sails (basically kites) on cargo ships to provide some of the propulsion. Wind is faster at higher altitudes (hence the height of wind turbines) and the heights they'd be dealing with wouldn't significantly reduce the density of the air relative to sea level, so the force of the wind can replace a lot of petroleum usage. Warships wouldn't want to depend on sails, so they might not want to have them in the first place, but the navy has tankers for refueling, and those could ironically be the ones to reduce carbon output for the navy as a whole.

I heard on the Stephanie Miller Show this morning that Romney doesn't even do the work of investing his own money, he has a trustee to do it for him. This makes Romney seem like the financial equivalent of a plantation owner, who owns the land but doesn't work the fields with his own hands.

    RE: Steve Jobs/Apple

Let's keep in mind that while Jobs DID outsource much of his work, MANY/MOST of the components that he needed for his manufacturing proceses are no longer even manufacturered in the U.S. For example, just check out where video displays are now being made.

Did Obama just repeat the republican talking point that the US has one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world?

  • Daily Topics - Wednesday January 25th, 2012   13 years 27 weeks ago

The speech sounded it fine, but it seemed a bit hollow to me. One of the things that struck me as completely wrong was his emphasis equating community colleges as future career centers. In other words instead of community colleges being stepping stones to universities (an inexpensive way to get a lot of required general ed completed btw) now it seems he just wants them to focus on being trade schools. It bothers me that somehow it has become OK to leave unskilled labor behind, as though they either don't deserve a job or don't deserve a job with a living wage. Perhaps its because its a pet peeve of mine, or perhaps its because it seems like another way of blaming the unemployed for poor trade policies that have shipped so many well paying non-degree requiring jobs oversees.

  • What do you think of President Obama's State of The Union speech?   13 years 27 weeks ago

Mitch Daniels confirmed that Republicans can't think on their feet. For one, he complained about Pres. Obama saying the state of the Union is strong. Of course, Obama didn't say it was strong; he said it was getting stronger. Nevermind that if he hadn't said something along those lines, Daniels probably would have accused Obama of hating America.

I really want to see an opposition response given from hand-written notes made during the speech, so that it's in response to what the President actually said.

There's no need for the nominal Republican faction of the corporate party to "broker" its convention of distraction.

The market-state's brokers already have their candidate, because the corporate party's "progressive" Obama voters are effectively all closet Goldwater Republican voters.

Obama said: "No more bailouts!" ...right! we'll see....according to some economists we will continue to have bail-out after bail-out because the repeated precedence has been established (something called Moral Hazard) and has engraved itself deeply in the power structure of this country..ie: the rich recklessly gamble with their excess wealth because they know that if they lose...the government will bail them out. Old Tim Geithner sure didn't look very happy, did he? Maybe that is a good sign.

  • The President is set to deliver his State of the Union address tonight - What will he talk about?   13 years 27 weeks ago

Great Speech! Almost makes me want to vote for him again! He did say some very welcome things...others not so welcome. But, again, actions....not inspiring things he thinks we want to hear will win the day for many of us. Terrible actions like appointing that guy he pointed out as head of Consumer Affairs...when he should have put Elizabeth Warren in that spot. Like appointing those inept criminals, you know the ones that helped put us in the economic mess we got into, as economic advisers. And Eric Holder....another one that is part of the problem. Obama complains that we need to reign in Wall Street, the banks, and mortgage brokers...but appoints all the wrong people. Had he appointed the right people... that would have made a real difference. Yes, Obama says some very nice things that he knows America wants to hear. But his actions, so far, has not produced anything but adding to the problem. Yes, I enjoyed hearing some of the things he said...which were very true...and does need to happen. But Obama knows that the Republicans are not going to let it happen...especially if all he ever does is give in and compromise (which really is not a quid pro quo...Obama wins us nothing). And he cannot....we cannot.....put ALL the blame on those who obstruct him because of his actions of appointing people favorable to those who have created the problems for most Americans..those were his choices...can't blame that on the obstructionists. His words ring hollow in light of his actions. And all we will see in the next four years, if Obama wins, is more of the same...horrible appointments...and more giving in to the Republicans.

  • The President is set to deliver his State of the Union address tonight - What will he talk about?   13 years 27 weeks ago

I hope the President's speech addresses the nature of the current reign of economic terror. We have an economic system which creates nothing more than billions of unearned and undertaxed dollars for the very few at the expense of the hardworking, underpaid many.

Vulture capitalism is part of this system and it's legal just like slavery and feudalism once were....but it still doesn't make it anymore morally correct than the former. One who "unearns" a living in this manner and is proud of it, is certainly fit to lead no one.

President Obama will probably tell us that Free Energy Technology has been available for over 100 years and if it were not for special interest elites, we would have enjoyed great abundance and prosperity worldwide and would truly be ready for the quantum leap in consciousness that we are about to experience. He will tell us that contrary to all the doom and gloom senarios promoted so heavily in the elite controlled media, we are about to embark on a "golden age" the likes of which is beyond anyone's current imagination. He will tell us that our government has indeed had contact from benevolent star beings as well as some "not so benevolent" beings from other planets. He will tell us that full disclosure of all the details with the irrefutable truth of our history will require a complete re-write of all of our history books. He will tell us that we need to be compassionate with those who we feel have wronged us and our ancestors; that they are about to give up the vast fortunes that they have stolen from us and we will create a totally new system (banking, financial, governmental, ecomomic, in fact all). Again, he will tell us to dream the greatest dream we can imagine and multiply that times 1000. He will tell us that it's time to celebrate and express our gratitude to our Creator whose infinite, unconditional love will always be with us, forever. Coulove (Citizen of the Universe Love)

Another trick the rich have, in order to lower their taxes...they will, eg, buy something...like a painting....hang on to it for a while...then donate it to a museum and claim that the value of the painting was way more than they paid for it...then writing it off their taxes. And they still get all the kudos and warm fuzzies by the public for being so magnanimous. These people are nothing but leaches and maggots...mansion trash.
